Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Making A Name

"Alright boys bets are in! But Murr you're really optimistic with that one. Aren't you worried about losing your money?" Asked Weasel as he checked the bets that were placed.

Everyone practically wrote down that he'd die; it was a given. What they were really interested in was how long he'd last before dying. Well, at least this was what everyone else placed besides Murr who bet that he'd live.

"Ah If I win I don't gotta work a couple days and if I don't. Well, a couple more people will get taken off the bounties. So it's a win-win" Replied Murr. He was an old Mercenary who enjoyed killing so in the end it wasn't a loss either way. If anything he was hoping for the young man to fail so he could have an excuse to take a couple extra bounties.

"Haha, that's just like you Murr guess the rest of us won't be getting any good bounties for a couple of days." Another Mercenary said from across the room as if this had happened before. By the looks of things it probably did because all the rest of the mercenaries present agreed and were already making some plans to take the week off.

"I'll get your bounties ready in the meantime" Weasel added as he walked back to his desk. While heading there he saw the entrance open as a familiar blonde figure walked in with a relaxed expression.

"Huh did you give up?"

Completing the bounty wasn't even an option in Weasel's mind so he immediately figured that Michael had given up. This wouldn't be surprising but it was still pretty upsetting especially when they had all their bets ready.

"No, I completed the Assignment"

Weasel furrowed his brow not believing him and assumed he may have gotten the task confused "Look killing one or two might be impressive but the job clearly stated to end their gang"

Michael just released a tired sigh at this. He had a feeling the reaction he'd receive would be like this based on their previous meeting so he came prepared. He couldn't exactly bring back every single person he killed but the movie Batman Under the Redhood gave him a pretty neat idea.

Reaching for his back Michael began moving his hands to grab something which caught everyone's attention. Gunfights were rare in this establishment but they did happen so everyone reached for their own firearms.

Michael saw this but was undisturbed; their rounds couldn't pierce him anyway so he kept going. Moving his hand to the right spot unhooked what he was holding and showed everyone a pretty large bag.

Some of the men looked at each other curiously and lowered their weapons to get a better look as Michael flipped it over. What they saw next was far from what any of them would have expected.

Thud Thud Thud

Michael stood still holding the empty bag but now there lay a pile of fingers beneath him. Specifically, it was thumbs belonging to the right hands of not just some individuals but of more than a hundred individuals.

The sight was so shocking and gruesome that some of the newer mercenaries had to turn away to throw up from the surprise. While others like Murr looked at the pile with interest and admiration enjoying the surprise.

"No F-ing way… Murr, I think you just won the Deadpool"

"No kidding Sherlock, just look at that pile and think all that's from the past hour." Murr's reply really gathered everyone's attention. While killing a lot of people was impressive it wasn't impossible and could be done with the right preparations.

Michael however? He didn't have that and to kill this many so fast he'd have to have been killing nonstop with ease. Which begged the question of how he accomplished this.

Clearly, he didn't have a gun or any sort of weapon on him to do this. So many of those present grew curious but they had the experience to know not to ask. Especially when the person involved had an unknown threat level.

Michael, who had been standing to the side, waited patiently. He figured that this was a bit much for everyone to take in and didn't rush. Besides doing this also set his image in place among the Mercenaries present.

Now doing such a thing might seem useless especially since they are pretty low on the importance bar of all things Marvel. However one should never look down too much on the little guys. You never know how useful they might be one day and even if they weren't well it didn't hurt to not be rude. Anyway, it's not like he's trying to make enemies everywhere he goes so he waited till things settled.

It had already been a couple of minutes since the earlier shock so everyone had already cleared the area allowing them to continue their business in private. "Damn, you are making a pretty good payout on this one, 27.2 Million untaxed beautiful green to be exact," Weasel explained after counting the last finger.

"And my meeting?"

Weasel looked reluctant hearing this. Even contacting Kingpin was something he didn't want to do but it's not like he had much of a choice now.

"Give me a minute I got a guy in Kingpin's group who sends us their assignments. I'll send the word through."

"Perfect, that's all I need," Michael said with a smile. Killing an entire gang was a bit of a detour but it did give him some experience using his abilities so he did value the side quest.

"By the way, most mercenaries use their names or nicknames when they handle jobs like this. While it might not be important to getting a task done it does boost one's reputation and helps with getting private commissions that are usually worth more. So is there a name you want me to list from now on?"

A Nickname huh well can't fix what's not broken let's go with that one. "For a name, I'll go with… Homelander"

"Homelander? Sounds like a franchise I like it" Saying this he quickly jotted it down "I bet Wade would have liked it too, too bad he skipped town"

Michael looked at Weasel with some real interest for once at hearing that name. "Wade he some friend of yours"

"Ah yeah but he's been gone for a while"

Interesting so Wade is in the process of becoming Deadpool right now. Wait! Why hadn't he realized this yet? If Weasel existed then of course Wade did as well but if this was true then that also included Mutants.

'I thought this world was the MCU that belonged to Disney… but with the mutants around that obviously isn't right and if they're around does that mean other characters are as well?'

This was definitely something worth looking into because depending on the situation the world could be a lot more dangerous than he originally imagined. However, this wasn't all bad, with their being more in this world that also meant more opportunities. Especially in the science side of things.

'The moment I get paid I'm definitely going to get a phone and laptop and research the hell out of this world'

In one of the many beautiful skyscrapers of New York sat a large man. One who was much larger than many imagined possible however his figure didn't dissuade him from managing his appearance. If anything it encouraged it as he wore a custom-made suit with some of the most expensive material.

Appearance was something he highly valued among other things but he always felt it came near the top. One's Presentation was everything after all as it was the eyes that ruled the heart and as such it was something he used quite often. His approach also seemed to have worked, gaining him many political allies and trustworthy subordinates who looked at him with fear and respect.

One such subordinate had arrived to give him the daily report of their drug trafficking and gang management.

"Sir we have received word from Margaret's school that our task has been taken care of"

"Oh, has it?" Kingpin said with some surprise. When he originally sent the request he never actually believed that it would be handled. The only reason he did so was to use some extra mercenaries to thin the herd for his men to finish the job. Which would have cut his losses.

"And they have an unusual request, sir. Well, not the group but the individual who handled it. A man called Homelander said that he wishes to meet."

A single man handled the Italian mafia? Now they weren't exactly strong but that didn't mean they were weak enough to be taken care of by a single man.

"And can this be confirmed?"

"From what we can see, Yes. They sent over a bag of fingers from every kill and prior to arriving I had the men check the Italian's known locations. Where they found multiple dead. All missing fingers confirming the story."

Tapping his desk, Kingpin went into thought as he checked all the angles. He's dealt with dangerous men before but the way this was handled was too fast and clean. Almost reminding him of how The Hand operates.

However, from the look of things this individual was a freelancer and not a part of that group. Meaning he could be something else as those ninjas aren't the only ones capable of this. A mutant maybe? Or even an ex-spy? He didn't know but a meeting shouldn't hurt and besides he had a feeling that it may bear some fruit.

"Let them know that I agree and that my office is open tomorrow at 10 am sharp."

"On it, sir" Having been given his orders the subordinate quickly left the room while another man came out of the corner. He wore dark tactical clothing along with a head covering carrying a target symbol.

"Bullseye check out the Italians and bring back anything you can find on this Homelander before tomorrow's meeting."

"I'll check around" Bullseye quickly agreed with some interest. He'd been in the room since the beginning of the report and as such also wanted to learn about this Homelander.

"Good" Having finished giving his tasks Wilson Fisk relaxed back into his chair as he had his record player start playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. A song he felt was perfect for the interesting night.
