I returned to my home after dealing with club members. I took a bottle of water from the fridge and saw the TV. As I expected, I saw the news about a hurricane suddenly appearing from the beach and hitting the peoples who were partying at the beach. Good thing that nobody was dead.
"I'm sure nobody will find that I'm the one who did it."
I took a sip of water and kept watching the news. Suddenly, my eyes became wide. I heard when paramedics found them at the beach, they were all naked.
"They were all naked? That's weird. When they all collapsed, they were still wearing their swimsuits."
I bet that person must be a pervert or who has a grudge against those club members.
At this time, I got a call from linda. I transformed into a teenager and answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey mia, Did you saw the news about the hurricane?"
Mia answered with watching the TV.
"Yes. I'm watching it."
"When we arrived at the beach, they were all collapsed. including rachel."
"So you were also at the beach?"
I was worried that linda and her friends got hurt.
"Don't worry, the hurricane didn't hit us."
"Well I'm glad you and your friends are alright."
"You know, I really hate those boxing club members. Especially rachel. But now I felt sympathy for them."
I know that feeling. If I killed them instead of making them collapse, I'll feel guilty and I'll be no different like any other criminal.
"That's because you have a kind heart."
"I wish Nina would think that too."
I tilted my head at the words.
"What makes you think that?"
"When we tried to leave the beach, nina ran into the place where the club members had collapsed. and she…"
When I heard Linda was hesitating to continue her words, I had a feeling that Nina did something violence.
"What did she do?"
"She took off all of their swimsuits and make them naked. She also took their pictures."
My mouth opened wide. So Nina was the one who did that.
"W-wait! Seriously!?"
"I'm not joking. When they woke up, Nina showed their nude pictures to everybody and blackmailed them. She said she'll post those pictures on the internet if someone tries to bully or call the police."
I thought it was a cruel way to humiliate them. even though they deserved it, it seems too far.
"I wanted to convince her, And she said she'll kill them if I don't let her blackmail them. So I gave up convincing her."
Nina really is a cruel girl. I wonder what made her into a savage.
"I gotta hung up. I'll see you later at school."
"Ok. See you at school."
I hung up the phone and returned into adult form. I changed my clothes into pajamas and lay down on the bed. I closed my eyes to fall asleep, but I couldn't sleep. So I headed to the kitchen and brought a bottle of whiskey and a glass. After I drank one glass of whiskey at the table, I thought about nina. I remembered Nina said she wanted to kill the boxing club members. I understand her rage, But I couldn't agree with her. Even though they did a lot of terrible things, that doesn't mean they deserve to die.
'Deserve to die…'
I poured whiskey again in my empty glass. That word reminds me of why I disguised myself as a high schooler. At first I wanted to find the culprit who murdered my family. So I can kill for punishment. And now, I started to hesitate about killing.
"Why am I hesitating!"
I stood up and shouted to myself.
"That killer deserves to die! I will make it suffer like I did!"
But my anger didn't get rid of my hesitation.
Next day, I got hungover. I feel headache and am still sleepy. I was crazy. Why did I drink too much? I woke up and called the school that Mia is sick today. I lied down on my bed and decided to abstain from drinking until I find the culprit.
'I hope nobody finds out that I'm living a double life.'
Few hours later. I heard the noisy doorbell. I was still tired but I thought to myself that I should answer it. The time was 10am. I yawned and got out of bed rubbing my eyes.
"Damn… who would come to my house?"
I headed to the entrance and looked at the door hole. My eyes widened. It was violet.
'What the hell is she doing here?'
Violet knocked on the door.
"Mia, are you inside?"
I calmed myself and opened the door with my pajama outfit. Time to act as Mia's mother.
"Who are you?"
Violet saw me and introduced herself.
"My name is violet. I'm Mia's classmate."
I acted like I was meeting someone for the first time.
"So you're violet huh? I heard you're a black fox girl."
"Yes. I'm a black fox girl. Is Mia here?"
I shook my head to make her leave.
"She's sleeping. I don't think you should bother her."
"I see…"
I saw violet staring at me with frowned eyes. Violet showed the paper bag to me.
"I heard Mia is sick. So I came to give this to her."
She gave the plastic bag to me. there was and apples and oranges.
"That's so nice of you."
"Could you give this to her?"
"Of course violet. I'll let Mia know that you give this."
"Thank you. And If you don't mind, Can I use the bathroom?"
"Why would I mind? Come in."
Violet entered the house and went to the bathroom. The bathroom is near the entrance. So I don't need to feel anxious that she'll think something suspicious about me. as long as she doesn't look around the house. I head to my room and change my clothes.
Few minutes later, Violet came out from the bathroom and asked me.
"Where's Mia's room?"
"It's next to the kitchen. but you better not go inside."
"Do you really live with your daughter?"
I was surprised by Violet's sudden question.
"Yes. Why do you ask?"
"Because I wanna know why there's only one toothbrush."
I started to regret not buying one more. I quickly thought of one and answered.
"Well… I threw it away in the trash… because I should buy a new one."
"Oh really?"
Violet suddenly ran into the room next to the kitchen. I tried to chase her and grab her, but it was too late. Violet already opened the door and saw the room was empty. Violet smirks.
"I knew it."
Violet glared at me with arms folded.
"Mia, Stop acting like an adult. I know it's you."
My eyes widened when I heard that word.
"I'm a fox too. Even when you turn into an adult, you can't change your smell."
I realized that there's no way to lie and trick violet. but I didn't expect that she would think the opposite way.
"I don't know why you transform into an adult, but you can't trick your tribe."
I closed my eyes and choose to admit it.
"You're right. But there's one thing you've got wrong."
"And what is that?"
"This is my real form."
Violet doesn't seems to buy my words
"Is that so?"
"Yeah. I'm actually a 27 years old adult."
Violet's black eyes suddenly changed into blue.
"I see… so you're telling the truth."
Violet's eyes return to normal.
"What did you do?"
"Just checking that you're still using transformation magic."
"You mean you use a magic sensor? I thought that skill is hard to acquire."
"If my mother didn't teach me. I won't be able to acquire this."
Violet pointed to her own eyes. She approached me with suspicious eyes.
"But enough about that. I want to know why did you transform into a teenager and transfort to bearst high school? What is your purpose?"
I sighed and stared at her.
"Can you promise that you're not gonna say anything?"
"I won't betray my tribe as long as they don't think about planning crime."
I remembered her sister and his friend was planning to rob the convenience store.
Violet sat down on the couch. I went to the kitchen and poured the grape juice in the glasses and gave it to her. Violet held the glasses and saw the juice.
"You didn't put poison in this juice, right? To kill the witness who found out your secret."
"Why the hell would I do that? If you don't want to drink, just give it to me. I'll drink it."
Violet chuckled and took a sip of juice.
"I'm just kidding. Cause I believe you wouldn't do that."
"Well thank you for believing me."
I sat next to violet. She would notice if I lie again. So I decided to trust violet and tell the truth. Except that I decided to kill the culprit who murdered my mother and aunt. Her face surprised for a while and changed into anger.
"That's unforgivable."
Violet said with clenching her fist. My tears stream down on my cheeks.
"That's why I transfer into bearst high school to find the truth."
I clenched my fist while looking at a frame with my family photo on the table.
"I'm going to find out who killed my mother and aunt."
I stared at violet while speaking with a sad expression. Violet put her hand on the back of my hand.
"Thank you for telling the truth. miss…"
I wiped my tears and said to her.
"You can call me mia. I want you to think of me as a high schooler mia until I find the truth."
"Oh… okay."
Violet thought for a while on the sofa and showed a serious look on her own face.
"There is someone who can help you."
I felt hope by hearing her words.
"Really? Who is it?"
"It's Detective Shana. She is a raccoon woman who was a former police officer."
"A raccoon woman…"
I heard racoons are good at using a lot of transformation magics on the leaves. For example, like doll, pencil, bag, vase. They can also tell whether their opponent has transformed through magic. However, they can't use that magic to themself. Unlike our fox tribe, we can't use transform magic on leaves. but we can use that magic to ourselves into other forms like I transform into teenager. I thought there would be a magic to transform myself into stuff. But my parents said that kind of magic does not exist. Hearing about detective shana makes me wanna visit her for an instant. I couldn't deny that I can't find the truth by myself.
"If you want. We can go together tomorrow."
"Why not today?"
"She went on a trip. So she'll come back tomorrow."
I wish there was magic to control time. But I have to be patient and wait for tomorrow. Violet took a glass bottle out from her school bag and handed it to me.
"My mother asked me to give you this for stopping my sister."
It was a clear glass bottle with purple liquid inside. Violet explain about the liquid.
"As you know, my mother is a pharmacist. She made an elixir."
"Elixir?!"
I thought I heard wrong. Elixir is an expensive potion which has a very complicated formula. In addition, some of the materials needed are hard to come by.
"I heard this is very expensive."
"Yeah. my mother told me that she wanted to repay you for stopping taylor."
Looking at Elixir, I couldn't help but think of it as a burdensome.
"By the way, she's not selling this in her own pharmacy. But if you want more of this, you can come and ask. But it'll cost you this time."
I couldn't take the expensive elixir. So I choose to gave back to violet.
"Give this back to your mother."
"Are you serious? As I said this is very…"
"I didn't help you for reward. So please… Take it back."
Violet was stunned. She takes the elixir into her backpack.
"That was unexpected…"
"What do you mean?"
Violet quickly waved her hands.
"Nothing! I'll take it back to my mother."
After a few seconds of silence, violet opened her mouth.
"You don't seem to hate or want to keep your distance from me."
I was puzzled.
"What makes you say that?"
"I thought you would also feel uncomfortable like classmates and teachers because of my face. some students called me robot violet."
I can see that. She always showed emotionless faces.
"So what? That can't be the reason to hate you or keep my distance from you."
Violet eyes become widened by my words.
"You're really different. I have never met an adult like you."
"Did I say something wrong?"
Violet smiles awkwardly and shakes her head.
"No. You didn't. I'm just surprised to hear that."
After a few minutes of conversation with Violet, I suddenly wanted to know why Taylor and her friend robbed the store.
"But why did Taylor and her friend tried to rob the store?"
Violet sighed and drink all the juice in the glasses.
"Money. She needs money to make her dreams come true."
"Dreams?"
"Taylor wanted to become an actor. but mom and dad didn't want her to. She only thinks being an actor is cool and easy to do it. My parent decided to let her do it If she only learn that being and actor needs a lot of practice and effort."
"But she still doesn't see that, right?"
Violet nodded and continued.
"Taylor didn't give up her dream. She wanted to go to acting school but she didn't have enough money. She thought about doing a part time job. And…"
When I saw a violet hesitating face, I thought about it.
"And what? Didn't she work well?"
Violet shook her head and grabbed her forehead.
"She thinks doing a part time job is not suitable for a future idol."
I was dumbfounded by hearing Taylor's reason.
"That's ridiculous!"
"I agree. And three days ago, I heard Taylor was planning to rob the convenience store with his friend."
Hearing the absurd reason, I began to feel disgusted with Taylor.
"You made the right decision to stop her and his friend."
"I know. I don't regret it. And my parents felt heartbroken when they heard that."
I looked at Violet's glum expression.
"It's inevitable that they feel heartbroken. because they're parents after all. It's normal to feel sad when their child gets arrested."
"But if she does that again, I'll stop her a million times. But I hope I can win her by myself."
I agreed with Violet, recalling the first time I fought Taylor who was holding a knife at a convenience store.
"Yeah. I can see that by looking at her fighting skill."
"I saw you beat her in 30 second."
"I thought she would give me a harder time but I'm glad she didn't."
"I wish I had strength like you."
I chuckled and patted her head.
"I'm sure you'll get stronger."
Violet's face turned red.
"Stop patting my head. it's embarrassing."
After I stopped patting violet, she looked at my breast.
"Come to think of it, you really have a huge breast."
I saw violet stare at my chest.
"Ok. enough watching. I'm starting to feel embarrassed if you keep looking."
Violet seems jealous, comparing her chest with mine.
"I want to be bigger."
"But time will tell you. Big chests aren't all good."
I remember when I worked at the company. Few guys talked to me with looking at my chest instead of my face. I wanted to blind their eyes so they would never do it again, including my boss.
"Well, I gotta go now. I have to help my mother."
I wave my hand as a goodbye.
"Bye Violet."
I watched violet leaving my house. and I lied down on my bed and blamed myself for opening the door.
"I forgot that I can't change my body smell even if I used transformation magic."
I hit my face with white pillow.
"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! I should've be careful!"
