Chereads / Fox girl's double life / Chapter 8 - Ch.08 Little president

Chapter 8 - Ch.08 Little president

The next day, I met Violet at the alley and walked to school together. We chatted for a few minutes until we arrived at school.

"I heard the hurricane suddenly appear at the beach and hit the boxing club members."

"Yeah. and they're still in the hospital."

"But I don't think it came out naturally. I think somebody used magic."

Violet turned her face to me. I can see Violet is suspecting me.

"Do you think I'm the one who did it?"

"Well... I..."

Violet couldn't answer properly. I decided to be honest with her.

"It was me. I used my magic to make a Hurricane and attacked that club members."

Violet opened her eyes wide as she heard my words.

"You did that? but why?"

I explain why I did that. I also tell her that Linda and her friends Nina and Johnny were planning to beat up boxing club members. That made her eyes widen again.

"So you did that because you don't want Linda and her friends to get hurt or arrested?"

"I know what I did was wrong. But imaging about that... I just couldn't stay and do nothing...."

Violet looked at me. I bet Violet would be upset about what I did.

"I understand your frustration and concern for your friend. It's natural that you want to protect someone who you care about."

Her gaze filled with understanding and empathy. I was confused.

"Aren't you mad or disappointed at me?"

"You did what you believed was necessary to protect someone you care about."

She was right. But I don't think what I did was righteous conduct. I did it for Linda and her friends. And suddenly Violet stopped walking and asked me.

"Hold on. Does that mean you also took off their swimsuit and made them all naked?!"

I waved my hands in denial.

"No no no! It wasn't me! All I did was use that magic!"

"Then who did it?"

"It was Nina. She was the one who did that. She took off all of their swimsuits and made them naked. to take a picture and blackmail them."

When Violet heard my answer. She was convinced by maintaining her blunt face.

"I remember that Nina was planning to kill them. She always hates those members."

"I heard that too. Nina said she's going to bury them in the beach sand."

"And she's blackmailing them instead of burying them."

I remember Linda trying to convince her.

"Linda tried to convince Nina. But it was no use."

"No wonder. It's a tough nut to crack if that person is Nina."

At this time, I sense tons of mana is approaching us. I could feel that person has more powerful magic than me. My eyes widened. Suddenly, we heard the girl's voice.

"I see... so you're the one who did that to boxing club members at the beach."

I quickly turned around and ready to fight. But there was no one.

"I'm right here, you idiot!"

I looked down and saw the little girl with long white hair with red eyes.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Alisa, the president of Bearst School."

I thought she was joking. This little girl is a school president? Violet noticed what I'm thinking and explained it to me.

"She's not joking Mia. She may look little, but she's older than us."

Alisa pouted her face.

"Hey! I told you to not call me little! Do you want to get cursed?"

"You do know it's against Mages law, right?"

Mages law? Does that mean Alisa is a mage? I met a few mage friends but I never met a mage who has a lot of mana.

Alisa raises her right hand to Violet with an angry face. She was about to use magic. I tried to stop her. But before I act, Alice lowered her hand slowly.

"Don't call me little again."

Alisa looked at Violet with a frowned face for a while and turned her gaze to me.

"Come to the student council room at lunch time. We need to talk about this."

Alisa left and disappeared from the front of the corner. We hurried to the school before the gate closed. I asked Violet about alisa.

"Mages law, huh? So she's a witch? I felt tons of mana from her."

"Yeah. she's a witch. And her father is an archmage."

"Archmage?!"

It was a double surprise to me. Now I understand why Alisa has tons more mana than other mages that I met. Violet nodded and answered with a serious voice.

"He taught a lot of magic to Alisa. If normal mages can destroy the wall easily, Alisa can destroy the whole building like a piece of cake."

"Did she really destroy the building?"

It was hard to believe. But seeing her face doesn't seem like she's joking. Violet placed one hand on her forehead.

"She didn't destroy the building."

"That's a relief to hear."

"But she accidently destroyed half of her manor during her advanced magic training."

My mouth fell open at her words.

"It's truly a series of surprises."

"Yeah. And she gets mad if someone calls her little."

"I don't know if I'm right. But isn't it against the law if a mage uses magic in front of people?"

Violet sighed and crossed his arms.

"That's right. She shouldn't use magic on anyone without the permission of the archmage. But she uses it without permission."

"Why?"

"Because she thinks if no one witnessed anything, there wouldn't be a problem."

I felt a little bit disappointed. I thought she was a principled person. I still remembered Alisa's mana. I swore to myself that I would never call little Alisa.

The lunch time has come. After I finish having lunch time at the cafeteria with Violet, I head to the student council's room. Violet was worried about me, like I was heading to the execution ground.

When I arrived at the front door, thinking about meeting the daughter of the archmage made me a little bit nervous. but I couldn't stop thinking that she is so cute like a doll. So I knocked on the door and wait for an answer.

"Come in."

I heard Alisa's voice. I slowly opened the door and entered the room. The room was small and cozy, with windows in the front. Alisa was alone in the room. She sat on the desk chair and looked at me with an interested face.

"Welcome. mia. take a seat."

Alisa pointed at the front of her chair. I sat on the chair and saw her face.

'Damn… She'll be more cute if she smiles.'

I need to focus. Alisa wants to talk to me about what I did at the beach.

"I can see you're a fox like Violet."

"That's true."

"And I can see you're not a teenager. I know you transform into that form."

When I heard that she's the daughter of an archmage, it didn't surprise me if she noticed my transformation.

"Yes. I'm not a teenager."

"I want to see your real form."

Alisa stares at me. Her eyes are filled with curiosity. But I refused.

"I'm sorry. If I use transformation and return to being an adult, my clothes will..."

I remembered yesterday my clothes tore apart when I transformed into adult form in the detective office. Alisa's face turned red and she cut off my words.

"Alright! You don't need to show it right now. Maybe later."

She cleared her throat for a moment and then got to the point.

"Do you know why I called you, right?"

"I know. It's about what I did to those boxing club members."

"Why did you do that? Why did you use magic on those boxing club members?"

I thought she would ask that. I tell the truth about why I did that. She remained calm and listened to what I had to say.

"So you did that before they fought with those members?"

I nodded, but I don't feel proud of myself.

"Yeah. I'm not going to say what I did was justified."

"So you're not thinking of yourself as a superhero, huh?"

I was thinking about running away if she's going to reveal my true identity to all the students or use her powerful magic to capture me. Alisa closed her eyes for a few seconds and opened her eyes.

"I wish all the students were the same as you."

"What do you mean?"

"As student president, I met a lot of students who caused trouble. They lied about what they did to justify or deny their actions."

I remember the day when I was a high schooler. I remember the day I saw two kids bullying a weak kid. I ignored him because I didn't want to be involved. Thinking about that day makes me regret it.

"But you're not. You're not the same as them. You didn't deny or think your actions were just. You admit that what you did was wrong."

Alisa looked at me and made an offer.

"Why don't we make a deal? If you help me with my work, then your secrets will be safe with me."

It was unexpected. When I realized that Alisa found out my identity, I thought I wouldn't be able to stay at school anymore.

"Deal? You're not going to make me expelled or capture me?"

"Well, if you're having trouble making students who don't admit what they did, I would kick you out of the school or use curse magic on you."

The last statement was a bit excessive. but I didn't say it.

"What kind of work?"

"Finding the truth."

"What kind of truth?"

"I'll tell you when the time has come. So what do you say?"

I need to stay at school to find the truth about the killer who killed my mom and aunt. There's no reason to hesitate.

"Fine. I'll help you."

Alisa smiled brightly and seemed satisfied with my answer.

"Wise choice. Mia. You're going to be a huge help."

Alisa stood up on the chair and extended one hand and asked for a handshake. I looked at her hand for a moment. Then I walked up to Alisa, kneeled down to match her height, and had a handshake.

'I hope I'm not going to do something illegal.'

We shared our phone numbers with each other. Alisa sat down on the chair.

"I'll call you if I need your help."

"Ok."

When I tried to open the door and left the room, I heard Alisa's mumbling.

"I should be the one who did that at the beach."

I turned around and saw Alisa's gloomy expression.

"What?"

"Oh… It's nothing."

I tilted my head and looked at Alisa before leaving the room. As the door closed, Alisa turned the swivel chair she was sitting in and looked out the window at the clear sky.

"Would things have been different if I had just used magic to kill all the members in the boxing club?"

Alisa remembered what her father said.

'Murdering someone isn't the only way to solve the problem.'

She always remembered that word.

"Father… You also said every life is precious. But thinking about those bullies at school, it starts to make it hard to think that you're right."
