Chapter 8 - 8. Making headlines.

Yinsen: "Why did we make a suit to just place it throughout the desert again?"

I threw the face mask on the ground. "To be honest. So my uncle can take it and make a cheap copy." - "So for no real reason." - "Pretty much. But hey, you're spending it with me so it make's it all worth it." - "I wish I had the self confidence you have." - "I've honed it after years of practice."

Yinsen placed the last piece. "There now what?" - "We say goodbye for now. I'll bring you to wherever you wish to go. Just name it." - "Anywhere?"

I made a portal back to the cave. "Yeah. Just tell me ." - "My village. I want to help my people." - "Uh. Can I take. Look at your memories of it? I don't know where that place is."

He walked close with a confused expression. I put my hand next to his head and dove in and found what I wanted. A portal opened behind him.

Yinsen: "Thank you. I hope you can make the world a better place like you told me." - "I'll try. I wish you have a long life. And don't make me save you a second time." - "Goodbye Stark."

When he pass through, I shut the portal And started to get to work. I have to go one by one and alter everyone's memories to make it look like the original movie. I want them to think I escaped with the iron suit that is now placed out in the desert.

I hovered on the sky looking down at the Missiles with my name on them. "Good riddance. Incendio Tria." Large jets of fire blew out of all my fingertips, Quickly indulging all of my weapons, making them explode.

When I landed a bit away I put a glamour over myself to make it look like I've been in the worse place for months as I made the long walk.

After walking for who knows how long I finally heard the sound of a helicopter.

It took them so long to find me that I actually started to regret making the long walk.

I fell to my knees when I seen Rhode running to me. "Next time you ride with me."

He helped me up. "I barely survived this time. Let's hold off on the next time. At least for a while." - "Deal. Let's bring you home. Pepper is worried sick." - "I bet she is. I can't wait for a nice comfy bed."

.

.

As I walked down the ramp medics started to come to me but I waved them away, and walked up to Pepper. "Why do you look sad? I was gone as long as I said." - "Don't ever do that again. It was a mess and I miss you."

I kissed her and held her waist. "I don't plan on doing that again. Let's go. I have some things to do." I lead and opened her door before I walked to my side.

Happy: "Where to boss?" - "Come on. Don't be so rigid. We are old friends." - "If you say so. But where do you want to go. We are just sitting here." - "I want a cheeseburger." I looked at Pepper. "I need you to set up a press conference. Burger first." - "Right away."

Pepper: "Why do you want a Press Conference?" - "It's time We move into protecting the soldiers and eventually the world." - "That's a tall order." - "Yeah. But it's me. Give me time and I can have it done… but seriously. I've been working on a full body Hard light sheild that I tested on my escorts, which worked but needed some tweaks that I think I got. I also want to make a set of weapons that are non-leathal that deliver a dendrotoxin upon inpack to instantly knock the target unconscious. Stuff like these will save lives where they normally would be lost." - "You've thought this through." - "For a few years. Yeah. Make the calls. I want to make an announcement after I get my cheeseburger."

.

.

As I stepped out of the car Obie was there to greet me. "Tony.. What are you doing? Shouldn't you be in the hospital?" - "No need. I'm perfectly fine."

Happy came around and handed me my last cheeseburger.

Obadiah: "You got a burger. Of course you got a burger. Did you get me one?" - "Sorry. I need it. Therefore it's mine."

.

I walked through the crowd of reports on my way to the podium.

I put my hands on the podium and stared at all the reporters. "Coming back from a event where I thought I'd die really makes you think about what's important in life. I seen Men and Women who I vowed to protect with the weapons I made, die right in front of me."

Reporter: "Mr. Stark. What happened over there?" - "What happened was I got my eyes opened. I relized I'm not doing enough. This company isn't doing enough. So that is going to change. I've been working on these for a while and now it's time to bring them to light.

I've been working on better ways to protect the Men and Women who fight for us everyday.

Full body shields, for the military. Shield staffs, and dendrotoxin Bullet guns for the police as a non-Lethal way to take down a target without killing them. This is the route for the foreseeable future for this company will go."

The reporters got loud and started to ask questions which made Obadiah get up and try to push me away.

"We will still make weapons, but we are going to expand. To be better."

I let him push me off and I walked back through the crowd to Pepper then we disappeared, but no one noticed as they were focused on Obadiah.

We appeared in our living room and I plopped down on the couch with a grown of pleasure.

Pepper: "You really stirred them up back there." - "I'll definitely make the headlines tomorrow. Tony Stark returns with a new mission. Or something like that" - "Not a bad headline.. What are we going to do about Stane?" - "Right now? Nothing. If everything goes to plan within two weeks he'll be out of our lives for good." - "Will he be alive?" - "That is yet to be decided.

What did I miss when I was gone?" - "You're smooth. But not that smooth. Are you really going to kill him?"

Blue mist surrounded Pepper and I pulled her to the couch next to me. "You have to understand. I know he's the reason my parents have been dead for 18 years. I intentionally played the long game but it was also torture for me. I'm ready to be done with me. That and he wouldn't be my first life I've taken." - "Maybe not. But for the first 21 years of your life he was your uncle."

I sighed and layed my head on the back of the couch. "You know I can see a version of the future right." - "Yeah. You told me that years ago." - "Well. I never told you when I got them. I was 11. I didn't know he would orchestrate it. But I knew they'd die. And because I knew they'd die and I wasn't there to stop it makes it hit that much harder.

Everything was going right in my life and I got cocky and I for some reason forgot it until it was to late.

The last thing I said to my father was to basically to tell him I'm not as dumb as he thinks I am. Not I love you. You're a good dad. Nope. That would've been to the best last words, but it wasn't meant to be. It was like a higher being was laughing at me while making sure they died." - "It was just bad luck. No one was laughing at you." - "I'm making you a suit." - "What?" -"A suit. I won't let what happened to my parents happen to you. Even if I'm not there, my suit will." - "I don't want to wear a suit Tony." - "Please Pep. It'll make me feel a thousand times better. I've seen what this world becomes. It'll put me at ease." - "Fine. You can make me one, but I don't need anything fancy."

I smiled. "Great." I went to get up when she pulled me back down. "It can wait till later. I have 3 months of pent up energy to let out." - "Jarvis. My Eyes Only."

The windows turned black and all the lights in the house dimmed.

"If I must."
