Chapter 10 - Family Library

While walking along the vast walls of his family estate, and reaching out to the library's location, which was situated at the utmost backside of the castle, and only after walking for an ample amount of time, he reached there.

The door of the library was austere in looks but extensively huge, made from weathered oak with intricate carvings of symbols and runes, whose meanings were lost to time. There was just one big door latch bolted to the door for knocking on it, and only when it opens on it's own, is one allowed in it.

Surprising as it may sound, the door of the library doesn't open for anyone apart from the descendants, not even those of high stature in the family are not allowed in the library, and it is said that the knowledge it contains has no end to it.

Jonan first took a deep breath, clearing any stray thoughts he had, and took his steps towards the door, after knocking on the door latch three times, he stood back and waited, and as expected, the door creaked open, revealing darkness looming but as he made his way towards the entrance, he found the whole room to be illuminated, and as he entered the library entirely, he found the light to be filled in every corner of the library.

Captivated by the scene in front of him, he first had a look around the whole room where no matter where his gaze reached, all he found were just books. There was no extra room to sit, not even chairs and tables, considering The Starfall Family's financial capabilities which was easy for them, but after noticing the scene in front of him where all he can see are just a huge amount of books, manuscripts, manuals stashed neatly all over the place.

He also knew that among these books, fighting and cultivation manuals were also present, as well as books containing miscellaneous knowledge, which were his main focus. After all cultivation manuals were of no use to him, due to the absence of a weapon talent in him, and every cultivation manual has weapons or one kind of weapon to be used while cultivating.

Whereas for fighting manuals, they will only be of use to him, if he is somehow able to ascend to higher realms, but they are not needed by him for now, so he can only look for miscellaneous books in the library, which can help him with his cultivation and help him grow in path to power.

While he was searching for a book that can help him in his path to power, he also found some books with which he was familiar and some with which he was unfamiliar, some of them were the basic movement posture of The Starfall Family, he also found the intermediate and Advanced versions of that movement and pondered that he can get them later on, when necessary.

There were also astonishing cultivation manuals as well as some fascinating battle arts, unfortunately, while they looked enticing, and great to read, it was of no use if he wasn't able to use them in real life.

Jonan didn't give up, no matter how much time it took, he was searching and reading through every single book, no matter it's title or contents, not wishing to miss anything, while it wasn't helping him reach his goal or even letting him know even a single hint for his condition in the absence of weapon talent.

It did help him in increasing his knowledge regarding the battle arts, cultivation manuals, and most importantly various types of knowledge regarding the magical beasts, magical plants, and most importantly about the two great races.

He doesn't know when, but somehow his intelligence has improved and his memory far better than before, even equivalent to those who have eidetic memory. Not concerned much with his increased intelligence, Jonan just kept looking day and night for something that might help him in the library, he would go back to his chambers around midnight, and by dawn, he would be back to the library, after completing his physical exercises.

His odd behavior was for sure noticed by many of his family members, his mother was just happy that he was healthy enough to keep to himself, and not cause trouble to anyone, whereas others just scoffed at his futile attempts, after all, it was not that hard to guess of Jonan's motives, according to them it was just wishful thinking on Jonan's part.

Meanwhile, Jonan himself was just engrossed in the books stored in the library, he would not even leave scrolls or leaflets, reading everything, no matter how minuscule it's importance is to him.

Days passed by, and Jonan continued his exercises and also his frenzied behavior of reading books, day and night without stopping, many of the notes and books also contained knowledge from his predecessors, which mentioned topics related to cultivating as well as their views on the current structure of the world, as well as some knowledge on relationships, morals and so on, which helped him mature and change his perspective about the world, enhancing his ability to comprehend matters of the world with more clarity.

After reading the last book, and rubbing his eyes in irritation, Jonan exhaled, wondering, if there was even any use in searching for what he wanted in this library, forget finding the way for his ascension on the path to power, he hasn't even gotten a clue.

Feeling downcast, he thought hard about all the books and scrolls he had to go through, he read every single thing which was present in the library, whether they be something important or even something nonsensical like love letters or journals, for the fear of missing out, he read everything, and after months of hard work, he finally understood, that for humans, it was simply impossible to cultivate without a weapon talent, and their natural elemental talent can only be of use, when they are able to generate aura, in their third realm Weapon Halo Realm, where they can finally start using their natural elemental talent, giving them more strength to fight, as attribute less aura is also of little utilization.

Cursing his bad luck to be born without a weapon talent, he could only just scoff inwardly, as he got up and ready to go out, after all now that he had read every book present, he knew it was really his wishful thinking, that he would be able to acquire some knowledge, which can help him, unfortunately, the reality is cruel.

While he was moving out, and heading towards the door, he suddenly stopped and from the corner of his eye, he noticed a black leather book, he remembered reading every single book, but couldn't quite figure out how he missed one more book, while it was time for him to leave the library, he knew he wouldn't be returning to this library in future, as he had read everything present here, but now seeing an unknown book, which he just noticed.

As he got closer to the black leather book, he observed that it resembled a journal. After picking it up, he found it to be quite thick and closed with a strap, first, he tried opening it, but he couldn't open it no matter what, he was not able to comprehend, for this is the first type of book or journal he came across in the library, which he wasn't able to open.

Jonan felt annoyed that he cannot even a damn book, finally when he tried concentrating on the cover in a deep state, he noticed that carvings on the black leather book were moving steadily, it made him feel creepy, but he couldn't fathom, just what is this book.

After deep concentration, Jonan was able to make out that the moving lines finally stopped and were words that he could read, but he knew that if he broke his concentration, all his hard work would be lost, he didn't know why but he felt it, he started feeling headache, and it kept on increasing as he tried to make sense around the words that were forming one by one, when the last line finally stopped, and all the words finally stopped moving, but now started shimmering as he tried reading them with his full concentration.

Even keeping his gaze on the letters present on the cover of the black leather journal was getting difficult for him, the letters started shimmering, he tried reading them, but then they also started moving as the letters started moving and shimmering, Jonan felt his brain would blast, even if he wanted he couldn't spare any other thought except for the letters which were just moving in a random direction on the cover of the black leather journal.

Unbeknownst to him, Jonan's nose started bleeding, he gritted his teeth persevering through this difficulty that is a painful and mind-numbing experience, just when he finally thought that he couldn't take it, the letters turned into a complete sentence and he could read them, which were somehow mysterious and alluring for him to read, and he finally read it.
