Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Vengeful Heart

When Jacob Kyler sees his reflection in the mirror, a handsome man bearing a fragile, broken heart urges anger to engulf him. He doesn't know what to do because his mind is blank, just thinking about how she's dared to go out with Henry.

He throws the vase toward the mirror, breaking both objects into pieces.

"You pathetic fool, why is that girl not afraid of you?" That's all he can afford for himself while looking at his reflection in the mirror. This is the moment he realizes how worthless his life is—how pathetically his existence is ignored by the girl he loves with all his heart!

A mafia whose routine is to kill others, ruin them and their happiness, and handle all kinds of illegal work; however, his heart never allows him to look at other girls except Rosalia, who detests him in every way she knows. Now, for this girl, his heart is aching severely.

He grits his teeth in anger while balling his hands into fists.

"You'll repay it; you both are going to repay it so severely that remorse will break your heart and soul mercilessly for this day. I know you both are doing it to hurt me; now see how I'm going to repay you."

Pushing himself onto the bed, he lays down, staring at the ceiling like a dead soul. For this very moment, all he wants is to be numb, to be dead to his feelings. To overcome all the pain he's feeling right now, all he wants is for his heart to go cold.

But with each passing moment, his pain only increases. The brightness of his room and the opulence and splendor of each item here just serve him the monotonous, empty sight of life. A mafia whose existence is for ruining others for his comfort, there is no way he will endure the pain silently.

He starts to smoke cigarettes, one after another, but nothing calms his anger.

After a while, something diverts his mind and produces a smirk on his lips.

"First, let me handle the small fish."

He gets down from the bed and heads downstairs while having an instant phone conversation with his secret secretary.

Sitting on the sofa with his legs spread out, JK waits for someone to arrive. A few minutes later, his men arrive with the "small fish" he has been waiting for.

A smirk forms on his face when he sees him in front of him.

"Welcome, Shorty," JK says, indicating to his men to loosen their grip on Jim Kalvin, who has been JK's business partner for decades but recently refused to deal with him without any reason, which pisses him off. No one is second to none in mafia violence, and daring to mess with JK means no one goes unpunished.

"How dare you bring me here like this!"

"Simple—you dared to mess with me."

Anger rushes into Jim's veins, yet JK's words are meant to boil him from the inside.

"Oh, my little fish is angry! Why so angry? Is it because you couldn't go on a date with your lovely dove, whom you've found after decades?"

"I'll kill you, Jacob Kyler! Let me go now!"

JK smirks, hearing him.

"Really, you will kill me?" He grabs Jim by the chin harshly, darting his fierce gaze at him. "You think I brought you here to let you go?"

Unable to control his anger, Jim punches him harshly. Amused and indifferent to the punch, JK lets out a long sigh.

"You are taking this rivalry to another level. If I lose my love for you, I'll make you regret it hard."

"There's no human who can make me regret it; I'm the one who makes others regret when they try to mess with me. Look at how pathetically you're regretting now."

"Come to the point," Jim replies, impatience in his voice, as he has no time to waste.

"How come people like you are smart—rumor?" JK's sarcastic laugh taunts him. "Who manipulated you to cancel all the deals with me?"

"I can't tell his name. I don't even know him personally."

Jim's tricky response pricks JK's nerves.

"You don't know him personally, but you dare to mess with me for him—so a rumor is always a rumor. I don't know what you're doing in this mafia world."

"Stop your nonsense. He tried to snatch my girl; that's why I had to cancel the deals."

"Now you're confined by me—what kind of mafia are you, always getting captured? Tell me his name and join me again; otherwise, you know me better than anyone else."

JK's reckless words draw a scoff of disbelief from Jim.

"I'll never do it!"

"Then spend your whole life in my underground hell!"

Anger rushes into Jim's veins as he hears JK's threat. As soon as JK signals his men to take Jim to the underground, they surround him from all sides, making his eyes widen in fear. No matter how intense his rage, it's clear that once he is in JK's dungeon, escaping will be impossible.

Seeing no other choice, he decides to give in.

"It's—Venomous!" he blurts out, desperate to escape this hell; otherwise, nobody would ever know that JK's dungeon had become his address before meeting death.

JK smirks proudly.

"Okay, return this bull to his lover!"

This is the worst humiliation Jim has ever faced. However, surviving in the mafia world while cheating on JK is like playing with fire, and he knows he doesn't want to make things worse. To return Jim to his spot, JK orders his men. They follow his command instantly.

Jim leaves, but the thing that haunts him is how vulnerable he became before JK just to protect his love—how weak love can make a person!

"I'm not going to be weak but I'll make all of you weak! If I'm not happy then none of you are going to be happy! The more my heart will burn, the more I'll make your heart burn!"
