As no regular hobgoblin remained, and while it seemed tough to get close to the archer mini-boss, when Ellis and his sister went at him together, especially with her air punch—though it didn't have enough power to make a lot of damage—it was still enough to distract him and force him to defend, cornering him.
And after getting closer to him, Ellis, while drawing the aggro to himself, tried his best not to accidentally kill him. After a brief struggle, with his sister's steel fist skill, they finally finished him off.
Seeing that he didn't get any blank points, Ellis didn't care much. But when he noticed a small, glass-like bronze orb, about the size of a ping-pong ball, glowing with a copper hue near the corpse, he finally felt like he was truly challenging a dungeon.
Extending his hand and holding the orb, Ellis expected a system window or some sort of reaction. But when nothing happened, he turned his head to his sister, who was looking at him expectantly.
"What is inside?"
Seeing her reaction and the way she eagerly asked, Ellis realized that the issue might be with him. So without saying a word, he just handed the bronze orb to her.
"Oh, it's really a skill! And a D-rank at that, We were really lucky."
Seeing how his sister exclaimed, Ellis was pleased that it was a skill, but not knowing if he could use it, couldn't help much, so he simply asked,
"What's the skill?"
"Wind Slash. Wait, you also can't see the system window for the bronze orb?"
"No, I can't. Anyway, this skill will likely need a weapon, so we can keep it for now. But how do you learn the skill from this glass-like ball anyway?"
Hearing her brother's question and realizing he had only used the healing skill so far, Clara was surprised at how he had become so strong without using any other skills. Nevertheless, she still explained:
"Brother, all items are initially contained inside the bronze orb, and you can read their description while it's still inside. When you focus on taking the item out, the orb will disappear, and the item will appear. Skills come as skill stones, which are a bit bigger than this orb, but other items like equipment will be much larger. The important thing to remember is that after opening the drop orb, you won't see the exact details of the item anymore, as the system window won't appear again."
Thinking of the explanation he just heard from his sister, and thinking of the skill, it was suited more to him, especially if he got weapon later, so maybe he should buy one, when he get out. And replied. "hmm, then when you buy things from others, they should still be in the bronze ball. To not get cheated."
Thinking of the explanation he just heard from his sister, and while Ellis knew the skill would suit him more, especially if he could got a weapon later. So as he was considering buying one when they got out. He replied, "Hmm, then when you buy things from others, they should still be in the bronze orb to avoid getting cheated."
"Yes, Especially for the skills."
Nodding at his sister, Ellis began to estimate how much time had passed since they entered the dungeon. He was certain it was not more than five hours. So after checking the corpses for magic stones, he decided to continue.
"Let's continue."
After saying that, and continuing deeper, they cleared another big room without finding more trouble. Unfortunately, nothing dropped this time.
"Brother, I hit the level 50."
As he was resting a bit and contemplating how much of the dungeon remained, his sister suddenly mentioned her level. Having forgotten about the levels, Ellis was a bit surprised but, considering the classes he heard about, he still asked.
"Oh, that's nice. What about the classes? How many are there, and which one are you going to choose?"
"There are seven classes to choose from, and I'm hesitating between the Brawler and Martial Artist classes."
While Ellis didn't know if seven choices were a lot or not, hearing the names of the two classes his sister was considering, it was clear that she wanted a class which specialized in hand-to-hand combat. So after thinking for a moment, he asked,
"What about the first and last choices?" His train of thought was that there should always be a unique class option, especially for someone like his sister, who has an innate talent and skill.
"The first is warrior, and the last is Investigator."
As he hummed to himself, Ellis, upon hearing their names, thought the Warrior class seemed like a normal standard class. Then what about the Investigator class? It also didn't seem particularly special to him. But after some contemplation, he wondered if it might actually be better. Unable to articulate his reasoning clearly, he decided to try a different approach and said:
"Sister, activate your innate skill and think carefully again. I think the investigator class seems unique and that you should choose it. But after activating your innate skill, if you still feel otherwise, you're free to choose the one you want."
Seeing her stay silent and then close her eyes, Ellis waited patiently. But as he watched his sister contemplate which class to choose, he was unsure how to feel. Even though he had become stronger and theoretically could live forever, he felt as though he had a lot of worries and troubles recently. Just a little while ago, he had been concerned about his relationships with his sister and mother. And then whether he should reveal what had happened to him at the Gray Gate. Now, he was anxious about the class selection and where it would ultimately lead.
Just from the messages he read before absorbing the gray shard, he couldn't trust the Twilight Codex system. And if possible, he wanted to remove it from them, but he wasn't sure how or if it was even possible.
