Chapter 9 - CHAPTER NINE: THE FIRST CASE (7)

"....Maxwell?" Alex called out, confused. He didn't expect his stalker would be the kid who pursued Bella.

Maxwell shook in fear as he heard Alex calling him out. He struggled fiercely, trying to get out of Alex's grasp. He tried to free his hand from Alex's grip and overthrow him to the side, but couldn't.

'What kind of monstrous strength is this? Is he even human?' Maxwell exclaimed in shock.

Alex feels that Maxwell is trying to run. Punched him in the face, knocking him out.

Alex then stood up after checking on Maxwell to see if he was really unconscious.

'Ugh! I didn't expect to meet the guy who is least suspected like this. Alex grumbled.

"Now I have to carry him all the way over to my house," he muttered, annoyed.

'I hope your dick falls off for making me carry you,' he cursed under his breath.

He then threw Maxwell on his shoulders without much effort and began walking towards his house.

"Good thing it's late at night and no one is on the streets," he mumbled.

'But why is this so light?' He questioned, as he didn't feel any burden carrying him.

Alex reached his home after a few minutes of walking. He locked the door and tied Maxwell to his chair with a rope that he found under his bed.

'Why is there a rope under the bed?' He thought, confused.

"Anyway," he said, then looked at Maxwell and shook him to wake him up. "Kid, wake up." But Maxwell didn't; he was still unconscious. Annoyed, he slapped him on the cheek using his full power.

*SLAP*

"Ah!" Maxwell jolted awake; his cheek turned red, and a trail of blood started flowing from the corner of his lips.

'I shouldn't have used my full power; now I kinda feel bad.' Alex sighed.

"W-Where am I? Where is this place?" Maxwell said as he winced in pain.

"Hey kid, tell me, where is Bella Harrington?" Alex asked.

'System activate 'eyes of truth''

[Ding! Activating 'eyes of truth']

Alex's eyes shone as he looked at Maxwell.

"Hey! Release me! Release me!" Maxwell yelled; he wanted to make some noise so that someone might hear him.

*SLAP*

Alex slapped him again, but this time with half his strength.

"Ughh!" Maxwell winced. 'What kind of human has this strength?' he thought, feeling his cheek burn in pain.

"I will only ask you one more time." Alex muttered, his expression deadly serious.

"Where is Bella Harrington?"

"I-I don't know." Maxwell lied.

'Lies'

*SLAP*

Alex slapped him again, his face contorting with anger as he looked at Maxwell with a deathly glare.

"WHERE. IS. BELLA. HARRINGTON?"

Maxwell's face crumpled in fear. He felt like a grim reaper was staring at him when he looked into Alex's eyes.

"I-In the old factory, on the outskirts of the city, by the river." Maxwell answered.

'True'

"What have you done to her?"

"I-I didn't do anything; in fact, I tried to save her."

'True'

Alex got confused by this information.

'He's definitely telling the truth; the ability doesn't lie. Then what happened?'

"What actually happened on the day when you went missing?" Alex asked.

Maxwell looked at Alex, hesitating whether or not to tell him.

Alex, who understood the meaning behind Maxwell's gaze, said, "Do not worry; unless you did something that you shouldn't, nothing will happen to you." He reassured.

"When I was leaving school for my part-time job, I saw Brent talking to Bella; Aiden and Carter were also present there." Maxwell said.

"What were they talking about?" Alex inquired.

"Aiden and the rest asked Bella to pick from one of them right there and said that they were tired of waiting and getting rejected."

"What did Bella say?" Alex asked

"She said that she doesn't want to pick from any one of them and said that she doesn't like anyone."

"What was their response?" Alex muttered, not liking where this was going.

"They got angry and tried to force themselves on Bella, but I intervened; they tried to beat me up but couldn't since I took some martial arts classes when I was young, but then..."

"But then?"

"But then a few men showed up; they beat me up and took Bella and me with them. I heard Carter talk with them like they knew each other. So I think he was the one who called them."

"What happened next?"

"They tried to r*pe Bella. But the gangleader stopped them, saying that she was not brought here to get forced upon, but a big client asked them to bring her."

"Do you know who the big client is?"

"No," Maxwell muttered as he shook his head. "But I heard that he wanted her to be handed over in 3 days."

"When was this?" Alex asked.

"Wait, how were you able to escape?" Alex asked, and he stared at him dead in the eyes. His ability was activated throughout the investigation.

"I was able to escape at night with the help of Bella; she also tried to come with me, but one of the guys saw us escaping." Maxwell stopped, his eyes tearing up as he clenched his fist in frustration. He continued, "She said that I should escape and call the police, and she would buy time for me to escape."

Alex's face crumpled in anger. "Then why didn't you go to the police?"

"The gang members were always at the police station; I tried to go to my house, but they were also there at my house, surveilling."

"Both at the police station and your house?" Alex asked with a tinge of disbelief.

Maxwell nodded In response, he said, "Yes."

'True' Alex's ability confirmed this.

"Do the gang members have a tattoo of a crescent moon or anything resembling that?"

"Yes." Maxwell confirmed.

"You said they are in an old factory by the river, correct?"

"Yes, at the outskirts of the city, there is an old abandoned steel-producing factory by the river."

Alex then looked up the location on the maps by following the river, and soon enough, he found what he was looking for. He showed it to Maxwell and asked, "Is this the one?"

"Yes, this is it." Maxwell confirmed.

'I need to go to the police and inform them and tell Natalie to raid the factory,' Alex thought.

He then wore his coat, ready to go out. He then looked at Maxwell and said, "Stay here; I will come back after I bring Bella back from the factory."

He then walked out of the room and locked it, not caring for Maxwell's response.

'What should I do? The police station is several kilometers away. And there will be no taxis at this hour. Should I run?' Alex pondered. 'I should run; I can't wait for a taxi to appear on the road.'

He then began to run towards the police station, with his speed ranging at 35 kmph.

'The body transformation sure is useful' he thought as he recalled how many times it helped due to him being strong.

Alex reached the police station in an hour. While running, he noticed a black van with tinted windows parked a block away from the police station.

'That must be the gang members.' he thought

He walked into the police station, panting for breath as his heart pounded against his ribs, and went straight towards the commissioner's office.

'I know she won't be there, but her daughter might or someone that's trustworthy,' he remarked as he recalled the police guy's face.

Luckily, Eleanor is at the station; he immediately walked over to her while sighing in relief and called her out, "Eleanor."

Eleanor looked at Alex, approaching him, and asked, "Alex, what are you doing here at this hour?"

"I have found out who kidnapped Bella and where they put her. You need to inform your mother and do a police raid on it immediately." He said this, still panting for breath.

"Are you sure?" She was skeptical of Alex's findings.

"Yes, and we don't have much time, so arrange the raid, and I will tell you the address."

Eleanor stared at him for a while, contemplating something. She then took her phone and called her mother; after a few rings, Natalie answered the call.

"Mom, detective Alex came in and claimed that he knows where Bella Harrington is and wants to do a raid."

Natalie turned silent for a while and said, "Give the phone to Alex."

Eleanor then gave her phone to Alex; he took the phone and began talking without giving Natalie a chance to ask him any questions.

"Miss Natalie, I know where Bella Harrington is. She was kidnapped by the group responsible for the bank heists. She is now located at the old steel factory by the river near the outskirts. She will be taken to the gang's client in a few hours, and I want you to raid the factory before that happens."

Natatlie went into deep thought as she contemplated his words. She then asked him to hand over the phone to her daughter.

Eleanor took the phone and said, "Mother?" while waiting for her orders.

"Form a team; I will call in the other stations; take Alex with you for directions. I will be at the factory with them." Natalie gave her orders.

"Yes ma'am." Eleanor replied seriously.

'Do not worry, Bella; I am coming to get you.' Alex thought as he clenched his fists, determination shining through his eyes.

At the old abandoned factory,

a person is sitting on a chair, his gaze rough and filled with cruelty. Suddenly his phone rang. The man picked up the phone and said, "Hello."

"Bring the girl to the place we've discussed before."

"Isn't this earlier than the agreed time?" The guy asked while frowning.

The voice, however, said, "Does it matter? If you want, you can get some extra."

'Ughh! These rich people think they are the gods of the world' the guy grumbled.

"Fine," the guy said and cut the call.

He then looked over to the side and said, "Hey! Useless shits, wake up and bring the girl. We need to deliver the girl now!."
