Drip I shoot up after I get splashed by some water overhead. I look up and I'm in a cave?
There are beautiful otherworldly crystals that light up the cave with a subtle shine. "Woah" I couldn't help, but to voice my amazement.
"Wait where am I?"
I wondered aloud
"Actually who am I?"
I came to a horrifying realization.
I don't remember anything.
I desperately look around the cave for any semblance of a clue or hint as to who I am. My search reveals to me a small lectern holding a seemingly ordinary book. Cracking it open there are no chapters, pages, not even words in the book.
"Oh, how helpful"
I close it in frustration, but still decide to bring the book along with me. Maybe it'll be useful later. For now I decide to examine some of the crystals.
Staring in my reflection I see a blonde boy with blue eyes and a shield?
"Is that me? I don't have a shield though."
I turn behind me, but there's no one there.
"How do I see you?"
Gazing into the other crystals I see a myriad of different people and items.
A boy with green eyes and a sledge hammer, a ginger girl with a witch hat, a raven haired girl with
"She gets a gun?!"
I can't help, but exclaim.
I try to check if I have anything else on me, but I can't find anything. I continue to examine the people and one in particular stands out to me. A brown haired girl with freckles and a cloak for some reason I found myself staring at her longingly
"Do I know her?"
I voice my thoughts aloud.
I try to think of any past memory or why I feel this way, but it's like there's a lock on my brain. It's on the tip of my tongue yet so far away.
Who are these people? Are they like me? Can they see me? After thinking a bit I decided to come back to it later and examine the book once more. When I picked it up it was a book without any writing. However, this time things are different.
The crystal's light seems to have revealed writing in the book.
"Ah, I'm dumb."
The book described A boy with hair as dark as night and eyes like soot stuck in the Crystal Cavern gazing upon others as trapped as him through mystical quartz he had not yet seen before. Lamenting about his misfortune until he finds his item is not what it seems. "Ah, I'm dumb." He remarks.
"Wait, how I just huh? This book is describing me?!" I try to read further ahead, but it seems the book is empty once more. I grab a small piece of the crystals which revealed the words and as I do I notice the book writes itself. Magically, it writes about my theft.
The boy pockets the mineral for later use.
"It really is writing about me. But how?"
My mind races in search of an answer. It just doesn't make sense. How is this possible?
I don't know why, but I feel excited. My memories have hidden themselves from me, but I feel like this is something I would have loved at least I hoped that I existed before appearing in this cave.
"If the book is magical, who knows maybe I am too. I might not even be human for all I know."
Suddenly, the book shimmered again reading: The boy contemplated his existence and the possibility that he was not simply human, clearly he was not the smartest of his kind.
"Bold words for a very rippable book!"
I threatened, but the book nonchalantly continued writing. Despite its lack of consciousness the boy yelled out in anger at his book

Suddenly the book began to freak out. Text began to blur as a wall of symbols and hieroglyphics appeared overloading the page. None of the symbols resembled any language I had seen before.
I tried to decipher the symbols, but they weren't just stagnant. They were moving, blocking me from comprehending the jumble of text. It felt painful looking at them as if I wasn't meant to have ever gazed upon them.
Still, I persisted concentrating on the foreign symbols and one sentence managed to engrave itself in my mind.
"Destroy the Soul?"
It was strange although I still couldn't decipher any meaning I knew innately that one of the restless strings of hieroglyphics said "Destroy the Soul." I didn't know what it meant by that, but I could feel it beckon to me within my mind. Calling to me like a warning.
I flipped the page seeing if there was anything else, but the pages soon became blank. I flipped back and suddenly that page was blank too. I hoped I didn't break it. What did it mean?
This book is definitely more than it seems. Its something I can't explain. Looking back at the other crystals I began to wonder
"Are all their items magical as well?"
I didn't have to wait for an answer though as I watched the girl with the cloak disappear entirely as she draped it over her head.
I gasped "Invisibility"
Continuing to inspect the crystals I saw all sorts of magical phenomena I simply couldn't explain: a clone mirror, a mask of transformation, Insect wings, etc.
Looking at the magical books held in my tan hands I wondered
"Why do we have these magical items? Where did they come from? What are they for? Who's soul needs to be destroyed?"
As the questions spouted out I heard a loud rumbling from where the lectern was.
The wall behind it opened as if saying to escape for the answers.
And so I did exactly that.
