Chapter 4 - The Twist of My Life

"Good morning, Artoria."

"Good morning too, Lady Aria."

When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by the blonde-haired girl with blue eyes who smiled sweetly at her, and Artoria greeted her back out of politeness.

She then spotted the glass of milk on the desk, and her stomach growled in hunger.

"It's for you, Artoria, and don't call me with a formal title like Lady, just calling me Aria is fine." Aria then picked up the glass of milk on the desk and handed it over to Artoria gently, as she accepted it calmly.

After sipping the milk in the glass in her hand, her stomach began to calm down, and she no longer had the discomfort again, and her mind was fully refreshed.

"Thank you." She then offered her gratitude and placed the glass of milk on the desk gently.

"If you have any problem, you can ask for my help."

This time, Artoria acknowledged Aria's existence as her friend; her sincerity and her help won good points for her. After all, compared to morality, justice, and the greater good for getting rid of evil, she prioritized someone kind to her over that holier-than-thou false act.

"Ah... Don't worry, Artoria, I'm happy to help the same fellow noble." Aria flushed in shyness at Artoria's serious demeanor and thought Artoria was too serious; moreover, she didn't think they needed the help.

"Okay..." Artoria nodded and didn't comment further on that.

"Yes, I almost forgot, I brought you the new dress, I hope you will like it." Aria had already ordered her guards to bring the dress that befits a noble for Artoria as she presented the elegant brown dress to her.

"Now, I will leave you to your privacy, Artoria, I hope the dress fits." She grinned and left.

When Artoria tried the dress and looked at herself in the mirror of the wardrobe, she saw a young girl with striking green eyes and golden blonde hair with a prominent ahoge that symbolized Saber. A dark blue ribbon adorned her hair, adding a touch of elegance to her overall appearance.

She was wearing a brown dress with a ruffled design down the front, accented with black bows. The dress was both cute and modest, with a hint of frilliness. Around her waist, there was a black belt that cinched her dress, highlighting her figure. The sleeves of her dress were long, and the dress itself flared out slightly at the bottom, giving it a flowy and dynamic look.

She pondered, how did Aria even know her size, and how could this dress fit her perfectly?

Did she measure her size when she fell asleep?

It seems she needs to train her instinct further, so she is not caught off guard as now and someone could sneak up on her while she sleeps and touch her without her being aware of it, making her very vigilant.

This is the Akame ga Kill world, after all, the dangerous world where the city she inhabited was full of corruption and assassination.

She didn't know that her instinct didn't work because Aria didn't let out malice, and it only worked and was on guard when people were malicious towards her, not people who showed kindness or other positive emotions.

Unknowingly, after trying on the dress, she decided to hop in the bath first, then begin to meet Aria's parents at the breakfast table.

"Welcome, Artoria, take a seat, Aria has already explained your swordsmanship, and we have already witnessed your capability yesterday," Aria's father greeted.

It seems her assumption of them being classist wasn't wrong; they indeed hated the lower class or lowborn, but when they heard their daughter's revelation of Artoria's identity as highborn, they no longer feigned their kindness, instead treating her with sincere kindness.

"We decided to recommend you to Captain Ogre; he would gladly take you as his disciple and give you an important position in the Imperial Police." Then he began to explain their arrangement for her.

"How?"

"I will take the offer, and thank you; however, I think Captain Ogre has nothing to teach me. I have already learned combat skills from Sir Ector and Sage Merlin." Artoria nodded at the offer but refused to be a disciple.

"Indeed, let's do this then." Aria's father clapped in agreement, understanding that a highborn like her didn't like being taught by someone lesser than her.

He smiled in understanding.

If Artoria knew what this guy was thinking, she would roll her eyes at him. She is not classist or racist like this old guy or his family; moreover, she knew that Captain Ogre is the one who taught Seryu to become delusional and brainwashed her to be blind to the Empire's corruption.

So, the answer is no, thank you very much.

While they chatted, Aria's mother coughed at Artoria, signaling that she wanted to talk with her.

She blinked and signaled Aria's mother to go on.

"I have a request for you, Artoria. My daughter seems to like you very much; I want her to live with you in another villa that we bought in the Capital after you get the job from the Imperial Police if this is not too much of a request."

"Well, if she wants to live with me, so be it then." Artoria nodded.

She then ate the breakfast gracefully, confirming further her identity as they nodded in satisfaction.

Hah...

What a life indeed.

Yesterday, she thought of them as enemies; in one blink of a moment, they became friends who are tied with interest.

I guess this is how the real world works.

Only interests are eternal.
