Chapter 25 - Back to the Beginning

Kai stood in the sky, his massive wings extending in the air like legendary sails. He was flying at tremendous speed, yet felt a strange warmth and calm, as if the air around him was whispering ancient secrets. This place felt familiar, not from his adventures in this world, but from tales he had lived in another world, when he would sit in front of a screen and read about the adventures of the "Straw Hat Pirates."

He approached his destination, and the features of the land began to take shape beneath his feet—a small, simple village nestled in the embrace of green hills overlooking the vast blue sea. This was *Foosha Village*, the place where everything began. Here, in this small village, Monkey D. Luffy spent his childhood, and here he met Shanks, the Red-Haired Pirate, who gifted him the straw hat that became the symbol of his grand adventure.

Kai descended gently into the village square. His enormous wings flapped slowly, as if sweeping the air around him, gliding smoothly over the ground until his feet touched the earth. He stood there, before the astonished and awed villagers who had gathered to see him.

From a distance, Kai looked like an angel descending from the sky, with his dark black hair and eyes shining with an indescribable intelligence. His large, skeletal wings, resembling those of a giant bird, made him look like a creature from legends. Children stared at him with their mouths open, while women covered their mouths in amazement, and men took small steps back, unsure whether to welcome him or flee.

"Who is this?" wondered one man, his voice trembling.

"Is he an angel?" whispered a woman to her husband as she cautiously pulled her children closer.

But Kai was not unfamiliar with these curious and fearful looks. Since he began his adventure in this world, he had become accustomed to being seen as a stranger, a sorcerer, something out of place. Nevertheless, this filled him with a sense of calm. He knew he was here for a reason, and he had to continue.

Kai approached *Woop*, the village elder. He was a short man with a thick white beard and sharp eyes, dressed in simple clothes reflecting his humble village nature. Kai stood before him and bowed respectfully.

"I apologize for any inconvenience my arrival may have caused," Kai began in a calm and confident voice. "I have come to ask if I might open a store in your beautiful village."

Woop stared at Kai with eyes full of curiosity and caution. "A store? And what kind of store do you wish to open here?"

"It's an art store," Kai replied with a serene smile. "I will sell paintings, sculptures, and artworks that might interest the villagers and visitors."

There was a moment of silence, during which no one spoke. Kai appeared confident, but deep down, he knew that this decision was not easy for the village elder. Woop looked at him with eyes full of skepticism. To him, Kai was a stranger, and his appearance and manner did not fit with the quiet, simple life of the village.

Before Woop could respond, a small girl rushed towards them, clutching the mayor's robe. She wore a simple dress and had a red flower in her hair, her face reflecting the innocence of childhood and her eyes shining with curiosity.

"Mayor Woop! Will you play with me?" the little girl asked with a broad smile.

Woop smiled gently and then bent down to her. "Not now, Makino. I am talking to the new visitor."

As soon as Kai heard her name, he froze for a moment. **Makino?** The little girl standing before him was strikingly familiar. She was very small now, smaller than he had seen her in the manga, but it was unmistakably her. The same smile, the same wide eyes, the same innocence.

Kai felt a shiver run through him. This was a moment of confirmation: he had indeed traveled to a different time, to a period many years before Gol D. Roger's execution. But he had not asked for this era from the lantern; when he first wiped the lantern, he had only asked to live in a world of pirates, a world of dreams and vast seas. Yet fate had chosen to take him to this distant time, where Luffy's adventure had not yet begun.

Was it coincidence or something more? Could there be a deeper meaning to his arrival in this specific time and era? These thoughts began to crowd his mind, but he quickly refocused on the conversation.

"I don't mind opening a store in our village as long as it benefits its residents and causes no harm," Woop said after much thought.

Kai smiled with happiness and then bowed again in respect. "Thank you; that means a lot to me."

Kai turned to begin setting up his store and looked for the most suitable spot. The store didn't need a large building, just a simple tent was enough to display paintings and sculptures. He started working quickly, using his magic to set up the tent in just a few minutes.

As Kai's hands moved skillfully to set up the store, he remembered how he had always dreamed of visiting this place, *Foosha Village*, where the hero who inspired him with his ability to overcome obstacles was born. And although he knew that the time and place might not be as he had imagined, the dream that once seemed unattainable had now come true. He was here, in the heart of the world he had always loved. Every corner of the village, every house and tree, even the salty smell in the air, represented more than just a place to him; it represented the beginning of the adventure and the legacy he had lived through the manga pages.

As Kai set up his store, the villagers watched him from a distance with caution and curiosity. Some began to approach slowly, while children ran around him, wondering about the strange drawings and small statues he was displaying. They whispered among themselves, exchanging glances and smiles, while the adults watched them cautiously.

"Look, he's painting with a brush!" one child exclaimed with joy.

"No, no, he's a sorcerer! Look at how things move by themselves!" another added, pointing to the paintings that started glowing with bright colors as if they were alive.

Kai smiled to himself as he watched these reactions. He was used to seeing people amazed by his work, but there was something special about this place. He felt a positive energy, as if the village itself was welcoming him.

It wasn't long before Mayor Woop arrived, accompanied by a group of older villagers. They looked at Kai with eyes full of respect and interest.

"I heard that the store is attracting a lot of attention," Woop said with a slight smile.

"Yes, it seems people here love art," Kai replied with a smile.

Little Makino approached Kai, holding a small red flower which she shyly offered him. "Can you draw me?" she asked in a soft voice.

Kai gently took the flower from her and then bent down to her level. "Of course, Makino. It will be my pleasure."

Kai began to draw little Makino with great skill, using his brush in a way that reflected the innocence and pure spirit of childhood. As he drew, the girl looked at him with curiosity, as if she were seeing something she had never seen before.

"It's beautiful," whispered one of the villagers as he watched the drawing take shape before his eyes.

"He is truly a sorcerer," added another, but this time with admiration rather than fear.

When Kai finished the drawing, he looked at the picture with admiration. Makino seemed to leap off the page, with her wide smile and innocent eyes. He presented the picture to her, and her eyes widened with astonishment and joy.

"Thank you!" Makino cried out with happiness, then ran to show her mother the drawing.

As Kai watched her leave, he felt a sense of peace and happiness. He knew his presence here had a purpose and that this was just the beginning. Perhaps he hadn't planned everything that had happened, but fate had led him here for a reason.

The villagers began to approach him more, and they became more open to talking with him and learning more about his art store. They started to discover that he was not just a stranger, but an artist carrying with him a magic that could bring joy and happiness to their lives.

That night, Kai sat in front of his store, gazing at the calm sea under the moonlight. He felt an inner tranquility, as if everything was in its right place. He knew that his adventure in this world was far from over, and there were more islands and cities to visit, and more stories to write. But for now, at this moment, he felt like he was home.

The next morning, after a long night of talking with Mayor Woop, Kai woke to a gentle shaking. He opened his eyes slowly to find the mayor standing before him, his face stern and worried. There was shouting outside, the sounds of people rising as if they were in a busy market, and the echo of those voices resonated everywhere, making Kai feel as if they were piercing his ears and hitting his eardrum.

"Wake up, Kai!" the mayor said loudly, extending his hand to help Kai sit up.

Kai struggled to raise his body, still groggy from sleep. He looked around to see the mayor holding a manga chapter from his art store. The elder's eyes were filled with anger and confusion.

"What is this?" the mayor said in a tense voice, holding the chapter up to Kai's face. "How dare you write something like this?"

Kai looked at the chapter before him; it was the first chapter of "One Piece," where the adventure begins in Foosha Village.

"What do you mean?" Kai replied calmly, trying to understand the situation.

"This manga!" the mayor shouted. "It encourages piracy! It talks about a boy from our village setting out to become a pirate and starting his adventure here! How dare you? I have always fought against pirates and kept them away from here. And now you, a stranger we've never seen before, open a store displaying this... this nonsense!"

Kai realized what had angered the mayor. Foosha Village had always been far removed from the world of pirates and had strived to maintain its peace and security. Yet, the story of Luffy, which Kai had written himself, making the village the starting point for a young pirate's adventure, had caused a stir among its inhabitants.

"I understand your feelings," Kai began, trying to calm the mayor. "But the manga is just a story. It's for entertainment, to inspire people to follow their dreams, no matter what they are."

"Inspire them?" the mayor said angrily. "You talk about inspiring piracy! This is not a dream; it's a nightmare! And the hero of your story starts his journey from our village? How dare you? People here began reading it last night, and many liked it because they saw their village mentioned for the first time. But what is this? A story that encourages chaos?"

It was clear that the mayor was in a state of deep frustration. He had protected his village from pirates for many years, and this achievement was a source of pride for him. But now, with a story like this, he felt betrayed.

"I want to know the truth," the mayor said firmly. "Why did you write this story? What do you want from our village?"

The conversation between Kai and the mayor continued for hours, with Kai trying to explain that his intention was never to incite disorder, and that he came with good intentions to provide something enjoyable and beneficial. But he realized that convincing the mayor would not be easy.

"Listen, Kai," the mayor said after a long period of silence. "I want you to leave our village. Now. I don't want to see your face here again. And if you return, I won't hesitate to use more forceful means than those I used with you this time."

Kai felt a pang of pain in his heart, but he knew this was the reality. He had grown to love Foosha Village and hoped to have a place there. But the mayor was right; he had no right to cause this disturbance.

"I understand," Kai said calmly. "I will leave, and I won't return."

As Kai left the mayor's house, people outside were still talking about the manga. Some were excited, while others felt fear and anxiety. As Kai moved through the street, little Makino approached him, her innocent smile still bright.

"Are you leaving?" Makino asked, looking up at Kai.

Kai bent down and gently patted her head. "Yes, I'm leaving. But always remember to believe in your dreams, no matter what."

Makino smiled at him, that small smile filled with the innocence and spontaneity of children. Kai felt something tug at his heart, but he realized it was time to go. He turned and spread his wings, soaring away from Foosha Village.
