Chapter 1 - Betrayed

In the Smith's mansionā€¦

Everything was finally ready.

Today, the daughter of the Smith's family would be getting married to her long-term lover, Abraham West.

In one of the bedrooms in the mansion, a beautiful reflection was showing on the full body mirror.

Her finely carved face was like an artist's most prized possession, graced with the most beautiful smile.

The girl in the reflection was wearing a strapless wedding dress that showed her chubby shoulders, making her even prettier.

But, the wedding gown was not the traditional colorā€”white. It was a golden colored dress, designed with little flecks of royal blue stones.

The bride, 22-year old Ciara Smith, could not help but tear up when she looked into the mirror. She was so beautiful that she almost did not believe that the person in the mirror was her.

However, her eyes were enough to tell otherwise. The blue and red orbs that stared back at her were a constant reminder that she was special.

At that time, a soft knock on the door pulled Ciara's attention away from the mirror. She gently dabbed on the tears that threatened to ruin her makeup before turning to see who it was.

"Ciara did youā€¦ cry?" The make-up artist worriedly asked, hurrying to where Ciara stood. "Don't you like the makeup?"

Ciara chuckled. She took the lady's hands in hers and laughed. "No, silly. I am just so happy," she whispered, her voice trailing off. "I cannot believe that todayā€¦ today, I can finally be with him, the love of my life."

"Oh!" The make-up artist exhaled in relief with a soft chuckle. "I was scared." Her expression softened as she held Ciara's gaze. "You must be so lucky to have a handsome man like Abraham who loves you more than life itself," she said solemnly.

Ciara nodded vigorously. "I know, right?" She sniffed back her tears and continued. "Abrahamā€¦ he's just so perfect. I've never seen anyone as thoughtful as him."

The make-up artist was almost moved to tears. She wrapped her hands around Ciara, rubbing the latter's back in circles. "I wish you a very happy married life, Ciara."

Ciara sniffed. "Thank you, Reyna."

After they separated from the hug, Reyna gathered her things before turning to Ciara.

"My assistant would do the final touchups. I have something to attend to but I'll be back before the reception," she said with a smile.

Ciara smiled at her favorite cousin. "Thank you, Reyna. Thank you so much for today," she stated, full of gratitude.

Reyna hissed. "Hey, silly. If I don't do, of what use am I as an artist. I'll go now, hmm?"

"Hurry back."

"Hmm."

About forty minutes later, Ciara was sitting on the edge of the bed and talking to her best friend, Camila Russo, when her phone buzzed.

Since it was right next to her, she picked it up, intending to slide away the notification and respond to it later. However, when she saw that it was from a private number, she decided to check it.

It was a message notification that read:

I hear you're getting married to the love of your life?

Congratulations!

Well then, permit me to give you an early gift. I hope you enjoy it, Ciara Smith!

XoxO

Under the text message, there was an encrypted video. Ciara did not think too long and hard about who the sender was and clicked on the video.

Immediately, her expression turned to one of shock.

Camila who sat across saw it and quickly came to stand behind Ciara. She did not know when a gasp left her lips.

In the video, a man and a woman were being intimate in a bathroom. It would have been a normal thing if the man in the video was not Abraham West, the supposed groom.

Ciara's body started to shake, but her eyes never left the phone. She watched with her jaw to the ground as the man she had loved for ten years, the same one she was supposed to be marrying in a few minutes, enjoyed himself with another woman.

As she watched the video play out, Ciara felt like her heart had been shattered into a billion little pieces.

However, just when she thought so, Camila spoke up.

"Is thatā€¦. Reyā€¦ Reyna, your cousin?" Camila asked, pointing at the black haired woman in the video.

"Who?" Ciara froze when she saw it. The woman knelt in front of the man, holding his manhood in her hand and running her tongue around it in an unholy manner.

The woman Abraham was cheating on her with was her cousin, Reyna?

Instantly, Ciara felt a surge of anger and in a split second, her whole body was shaking.

Camila took a step back in fear. She knew her friend was going to lose it. To say that she was not surprised too would be a lie.

"Abraham and Reyna?" She whispered, looking at Ciara, expecting her to go into rampage.

Nonetheless, Ciara remained seated like a ghost.

Now, it suddenly made sense to her. She had never thought of it but now, she understood why Reyna was always within a mile from anywhere Abraham was.

It finally made sense why Abraham never requested for sex from her. Even though she had willingly offered herself to him many times, he turned her down, willing her to reserve herself for marriage.

A loud laughter rang throughout the room, causing Camila to jerk backwards.

"It finally makes sense!" Ciara screamed, clapping her hands in a strange manner. She suddenly jumped up and stood before Camila. "Everything finally does! That bastard was getting his thing sucked by my own cousin, the same one he claimed to hate! How did I not see that?"

Camila swallowed, taking a step back. "Ciā€¦ Ciara, you need to calm down. Breathe. Take a deep breā€”"

Crash!

A vase was suddenly swept off the table.

"Don't tell me to call down!" Ciara yelled, unable to hold it in any more. "Don't tell me to calm down, Camila! He cheated on me! Abraham betrayed me! They both betrayed meā€¦" she cried, finally falling down to the cold floor, sobbing loudly.

Camila's fear disappeared almost immediately. Tears gathered in her eyes as fell on her knees, wrapping her hands around her best friend.

"It's okay, Ciara, you can cry all you want," she whispered as she began to sob. "I'll be right here for you. Let it all out."
