Inside the car, Ciara kept her eyes on the road, not paying attention to the man next to her.
Since she had already married him, there was no going back. There was no use being distance.
After a long time thinking, Ciara finally turned to the man whose eyes were closed. She took a deep breath and nervously spoke, knowing he wasn't asleep.
"Mr. Atticus, thank you for marrying me. If you don't mind, I'd like to talk to you."
Luther opened his eyes and glanced at the girl. He could tell she was nervous, even though she tried to hide it.
"Hmm." He nodded, waiting for her to speak.
"Firstly, even though this marriage is unexpected, it is already done. I am not a coward, so I will do everything I can to make it. I will expect your cooperation," she said before adding meaningfully, "except if you have ulterior motives for marrying me.
"Secondly, even though we are a couple, I would like to request that you do not not involve yourself in my personal matters. Rest assured, I will be submissive and will rightly perform my wifely duties. In return, I will not poke my nose in your personal matters too.
"Finally, I will retain my job. I work 9-5, daily. However, during the weekends, except when necessary, I will remain in the house… with you. I hope you can accept these few requests of mine."
Luther listened with a slight smile. He did not say anything for the next few minutes, causing Ciara to feel uneasy in her seat.
After a few seconds, he blurted out a single word, "Ok!"
"Ok?" Ciara blinked.
"As long as you stand by the requests yourself, I have no issues," Luther explained.
Ciara nodded, even though she had not expected him to agree easily. "Thank you, Mr. Atticus."
She returned her attention to the road, feeling relieved.
Ciara always knew she wasn't a coward. But, she never thought that she would be brave enough to marry a total stranger!
Since she wasn't the kind to regret a decision after making it, she decided on one thing:
"What's done is done and cannot be changed," she mumbled under her breath, but Luther heard and his lips lifted slightly.
The rest of the drive was as silent as midnight. Ciara was too tired to speak and Luther kept his eyes closed.
When the car finally stopped, Luther, like a gentleman, came out of the car and opened the door for Ciara.
The latter did not feel at ease with the whole attitude but said nothing. She stepped out with a small nod of appreciation to him.
When she had come out, Ciara quietly stood and waited for the man to finish speaking to his uncle. She did not know what they had spoken about, but she had a feeling it was about the events that had happened earlier.
After the older man left with the car, Luther returned to her side. He arched his arm, offering her the curve of his elbow.
Ciara hesitated before hooking her arm in his. With the other hand, she gathered his silk dress from going underneath her heels.
"I have prepared a room here for the night. My house isn't prepared for a wife," Luther explained as they walked into the hotel.
"I understand."
After speaking to the receptionist, Luther led Ciara to the VIP restaurant where a romantic candlelight dinner was waiting for them.
Ciara could not help feeling touched. In such a short while, he had managed to arrange a romantic dinner.
The couple ate to their fill before boarding the elevator to their room. When the elevator doors closed, Ciara watched as Luther pressed the button for the last floor, but she was too sleepy to think.
Ding!
The elevator opened on the top floor when the penthouse was located. Luther entered a pin and the door automatically opened.
Ciara stepped into the room behind Luther. Much to her surprise, the penthouse had been decorated with red roses, perfumed candles, and a banner that read 'Happy Married Life!'.
Ciara felt even more touched. She did not think that her sudden husband would be thoughtful enough to prepare something as beautiful as this.
"How did you manage to pull this off?" she asked, unable to hide her curiosity.
Luther just shrugged. It was nothing at all. Instead of replying, he just started to loosen his tie and unbuttoned his jacket.
The room suddenly felt different.
Looking up, Luther was met with a pair of pupils looking at him nervously. Instantly, he realized why the air in the room had changed.
His lips suddenly morphed into a smirk as he approached Ciara, slowly unbuttoning his shirt.
"Are you shy?" he asked. His deep voice was deliberately sexy.
Ciara's cheeks flushed. She wasn't shy, but why was he so eager?
She shook her head slowly. "No. Why should I be shy?"
Luther bit his lower lip gently as he loosened the third button on his shirt, showing off a decent amount of his hard chest.
"You tell me," he whispered against Ciara's ear. "After all, it's our wedding night. Right?"
As Luther's warm breath touched her ear, Ciara's body shivered lightly. She subconsciously took a few steps back before forcing her legs to stop moving.
He was right after all. It was indeed their wedding night. What right did she have to question his hormones since they were already married?
Thinking this, Ciara steeled her heart and forced a sweet smile.
Seeing this, Luther's brow rose at the sudden change in the air. He was going to speak when he saw her take a few steps forward, covering the space between them.
He was even more amused when her chubby hands suddenly wrapped around his waist and her head hit his chest.
Luther glanced at the girl in silent dismay. "What are you doing?"
"Isn't it our wedding night?" Ciara met his question with her own question. She shifted her head, positioning it right above his heart. "We shouldn't waste our wedding night, don't you agree?"
