Ms. Van's attention was drawn to Viola's cabin by the distant murmur of raised voices. As she hastened down the path, she looked over her shoulder, hoping the wolves wouldn't pick up on the ruckus. Jodie had informed her of her visit and the strange message Viola had sent to her. The plan was for Jodie to go ahead while she tied up the kitchen and joined them once she was done. But now, as the voices went higher, she wondered what could've happened.
Suddenly the door swung open, and Viola burst out, closely followed by Jodie.
"What's going on?" Ms. Van enquired, approaching them. "I could hear your voices all the way from—"
Her words trailed off, the query momentarily forgotten as she took in their bedraggled appearance and drew back in surprise. The pair was soaked to the bone.
"What happened?"
Viola shook her body vigorously, dispersing water droplets, while Jodie attempted to wipe her face with hands that were equally soggy.
