Jodie stuck her head out the window, gazing into the darkness as her feet trembled beneath her. The unmistakable sound of rushing footsteps echoed through the night air, leaving her feeling exposed.
The scent that lingered felt familiar; however, Jodie had difficulty placing a face to it. Desperately, she wondered who it could be, as the uncertainty that settled at the base of her stomach was oppressive. She didn't know of any specific rule against witches in the Phoenix Pack, but the late Alpha King, Mikhail Androvo, after his fallout with a powerful witch, passed a decree against witchcraft practices in all the werewolf kingdoms.
Seers were exempt. They were not considered witches, but special individuals believed to be gifted with the blessing of foresight and hands that could cure any illness. They weren't part of a coven, and most certainly, they didn't move things with their minds.
