"Your emotions fuel your magic," Viola said, breaking a silence that had lasted for fifteen minutes since the magical surge.
Jodie looked over to where she was bent over, sweeping the remnant of the salt circle. The candles had been discarded and normalcy restored in the room. For Jodie, however, it marked the beginning of something different. She could feel inanimate objects beckoning to her as her gaze roamed over them. The room felt alive, the elements felt alive, and occasionally, her body felt like it wasn't her own. It felt like she'd been possessed by a powerful spirit that desired full control of her mind, spirit, soul, and body.
Sweat broke out on her forehead.
"I—I don't feel so good," she croaked. "My head hurts."
Viola dropped the broom and strolled over to where Jodie sat on the floor beside the exit door. She examined her briefly before joining her on the floor, legs crossed. "The magical half of you is awakening, Jodie."
