Chereads / Conscious as an Energy / Chapter 7 - Run

Chapter 7 - Run

"Sigh. Now, what am I supposed to do with you?"

The fox asked the purple gourd as it tried to remember the order that was given to it.

'Investigate the monster that was born in the cave at the east.'

"Agh. Why is the order so vague?" It groaned in frustration as it tossed the purple gourd around.

"This little one. How can you be so unlucky to encounter those greedy bastards right after being born?" It said this as it tapped on the purple gourd.

Swoosh

In the next moment, the gourd brightened up as it broke down.

Whoosh

A swarm of energy flowed out of the gourd as it combined and started to form a shape, but it broke down as it remained formless and small.

'AHHHHHHHH.'

Eden screamed as he felt dizzy.

'...Huh?'

Opening his eyes after a few moments, he felt nothing as he opened his eyes and looked around.

'Huh? What happened?' Seeing no one, he questioned.

Where did the humans go? Where did that big mouth go?

Several questions popped up in his mind.

'…A-am I safe?'

Eden said as he stood up and looked around again.

'Looks like it.' he thought.

'But what should I do now? It's too dangerous at night, and those humans might be around somewhere.' He thought as he looked at his body.

'This damn body.' He thought as the bright light was sure to draw attention to him.

'What should I do?' Eden thought as he remembered something.

'Hey… window? Help me.' Eden said.

Flick

Without any delay, a window appeared.

[Yes?]

'What can I do about this glowing body?'

Flick

As soon as he asked, a new window appeared.

[You can't. You will have to take on a form.]

'Yea that. Tell me how to do it.'

Flick

[You will have to obtain the complete DNA of a being. Only then will you be able to transform into that being.]

Flick

[Currently, there is only one DNA present, belonging to the human race, but it is incomplete.]

'Shit, there's nothing.' Eden thought as there was no way he was going to get a human DNA or any DNA by himself.

'…Can you help me find a hiding place?'

Eden asked.

Flick

[Previously, when you were running, there was a small cave. If you retrace your footstep, you can reach it easily.]

'…How will I retrace it?' Eden thought as he looked around.

Maybe it was from panic, but he didn't remember his surroundings while running.

'Oh footsteps.' Eden said as he looked at his leg.

'FUCK.'

He cursed as he looked at his swirly bottom half. He didn't even have legs.

Flick

[Here's the map.]

Flick

After noticing the dilemma Eden was in, the window opened and decided to help as it provided a map.

'What? You should have already given it.' Eden said as he looked at the map.

It was very digital like, holographic-like. And most of all,

'…It's very small.' Eden said.

Flick

[The map was created according to the path you ran from. It's incomplete.]

The window appeared as Eden nodded in understanding and started walking.

'So, this way.' He thought as he started walking.

As he took some steps, his eyes fell on some purple things lying on the ground.

'What is this?'

He thought as he felt some kind of attraction from it.

Flick

[It's a sealing gourd that previously ate you.]

'Ahh.'

Eden, surprised by the information, took some steps back in fear.

'This little thing ate me?' He thought as he looked at the gourd.

Flick

[It seems to be broken, so it's safe.]

'Oh, then why should I bother?' Eden thought as he walked away.

Flick

[You should keep it. It will be helpful after you restore it.]

'That sounds good, but the problem is that I don't have a pocket.'

Flick

[I can manage it. Please touch it.]

"Where is it going?"

Sitting on a tree branch, the fox muttered as it looked at the glowing creature, suddenly moving.

Deciding to follow it, the fox stood up as it tried to jump to another branch.

[Scarlet! Leave your mission and head towards the west.]

'…What? Leave him? Why now?'

The fox named Scarlet questioned as she gained some information.

[This mission is over. Head towards the west for an emergency.]

'Mission over?'

Scarlet stopped as she looked at the glowing creature walking away.

[Yes. Boss told me to say so. A dangerous anomaly suddenly appeared and is attacking some humans in the west.]

Some more information appeared on her mind as her mood started to become sour.

'An anomaly appeared?'

She thought as she kept looking at the glowing creature.

'Looks like this little one isn't stupid enough to stay outside at this time.' She thought as she witnessed the glowing creature going inside a small cave.

Although it was now outside the red zone, the cave was safe enough for it to survive the night.

"Ok then."

She muttered as she turned around and jumped away towards the anomaly.

'If the boss wishes, then I shall back down.'

'…Thank God its empty.'

Looking around the cave, Eden thought as it was a very small place, but enough for him to stay the night.

The glow emitted from his body had lightened up every part of the cave.

Walking towards the corner of the cave, Eden sat on the ground as he looked around for a moment and closed his eyes.

'Hmm, he is still sleeping.'

Eden thought as he looked inside his mind.

It was the same room from earlier that had only a chair, but currently there was also a comfy bed where Aiden was asleep.

His sleep didn't seem comfortable, as he kept frowning and spasming.

'It's going to take him some time to wake up.' Eden thought, as he could tell from his connection with Aiden.

Whoosh

'Tch. Even after moving to our next life, those mother fuckers still hunt us.'

Eden muttered as he appeared beside the bed.

Swoosh

Waving his right hand above Aiden's head, clouds started to emerge.

'It works.' Eden thought as he smiled in satisfaction.

In this world, he seems to have more freedom than before.

'Ok, if this works, then this should also work.' He muttered as he took some parts of the cloud and sent the rest back to Aiden's head.

The cloud he took was dark and gloomy as it hovered above his hand.

Snap

Snapping his fingers, a jar appeared.

Without any doubt, Eden inserted the dark and gloomy cloud inside the jar and sealed it with its lid.

'Hmm,'

Eden looked at the jar as he took it to the corner of the room.

Krr Krr

He started to dig a hole.

Krr Krr

After digging for some time, he finally placed the jar there and sealed the hole back to its initial condition.

'This should help his condition.' He thought as he smiled in satisfaction.

Now that these memories are sealed, they shouldn't hurt Aiden anymore.

Walking towards Aiden, he was relieved to see that Aiden was sleeping more comfortably now.

Pang

'Agh. That was taxing.'

He thought as he felt a pang on the head. He sat on the chair as he grabbed his head, trying to endure it for some time.

Sigh

After the pain went away, Eden sighed a breath of relief as he turned the chair around and looked at a wall.

Whoosh

His figure disappeared.

'…That took a lot of time.' He muttered as he opened his eyes and looked around.

'Is it morning already?' He thought as he looked outside.

It was getting brighter.

'…No matter what the world is, there still exists sun and moon.' He thought as he walked outside the cave and looked up.

The sky was getting brighter as the sun slowly rose.

Even after running all night and staying up all night, he neither felt hungry nor exhausted.

'What should I do?'

He thought as he pondered about it.

'Yeah, let's stay here until he wakes up.' He thought as he turned around.

Thunk

As he was about to walk inside the cave, he suddenly heard something dropping down.

'…What is it now?' Eden thought as he turned around and looked towards the source of the sound.

'Ah shit.'

A black snake with red eyes and a black pupil was staring directly at him from a tree branch.

It was not the first time Eden had seen a snake, as Aiden had dealt with many of them in his past life.

The problem was that the snake was wider than the tree bark and longer. It was big—bigger than any mere anaconda from his past life.

Its black skin had scales that felt dangerous to even look at, while its stare pierced through any prey's will.

Slrrrrrrr

The abomination of the snake flickered its tongue out for a moment before taking it in like any regular snake.

But just this small movement was enough to make Eden fear for his life.

'I don't have a physical body, so you can't eat me.' Eden said as he slowly took some steps back.

The snake moved its head forward as it hovered in the air while its body wrapped around the tree.

It kept staring at Eden with its black pupil, as if Eden were a mouse.

'I-It's planning on eating me.' Eden thought as he prepared himself.

'RUN'

Eden shouted as he quickly turned left and started running.

Slrrrr

As if reacting to Eden's movement, the abomination of the snake dropped down on the ground and started to chase after Eden.
