Chapter 8 - Abomination of a snake

Bam

A big tree fell to the ground as its roots were corrupted by the abomination of a snake.

Slrrrr

It kept on slithering as Eden also didn't stop.

Srrrr

'Ah. This world is too chaotic.' He didn't slow down even a bit, as he kept running for his life.

He didn't know if he could be eaten since he didn't have a physical body, but he wasn't too keen on finding out either.

Slrrrr

The abomination of a snake also kept flickering its tongue as it made Eden sudder in fear.

'Ahhhh, that sounds very creepy.'

Srrrr

Eden ran through small areas, hoping the monster would stop following him, but that was futile since the trees were nothing for the monster.

Bam Bam

One by one, the trees started falling as the ground shook.

Slrrrr

The monster launched its head toward Eden to eat him.

'Shit.'

Eden cursed as he turned and looked at the monster.

'Better than nothing.'

He thought as he extended his limbs forward.

'God work.'

[REFLECTION]

SHHHHHINNNGGGGG

A glowing, invisible wall like shield suddenly formed in front of him. It was so sudden that the monster couldn't react in time.

BAAM!

Its mouth collided with the shield.

ROAR!

The monster's head was launced backward as it roared in pain.

'Holy shit it worked.'

Eden thought, as he felt a little dizzy.

'Agh.'

Flick

[You used a lot of energy. Please refrain, or else you might collapse from energy deficiency.]

'Tell me how to survive this situation first.'

Eden said it in a hurry, as the monster was now slowly standing tall, looking at him in rage.

'God, I'm going to die.' He thought as he raised his limbs again.

His limbs were shaking as it turned out that he had used quite a lot of energy on the recent shield.

'Whatever. COME ONE.'

His body spiked as the glow emitted from his body intensified.

The monster opened its eyes as it looked at Eden.

Opening its mouth, it launched towards Eden, trying again to eat him.

'Shit.'

BAAAAM!

What happened next wasn't easy to explain.

The monster's head suddenly vanished from Eden's sight. No, it wasn't only its head; its entire body had vanished.

BAANG!

A loud sound of crashing echoed out as Eden looked around.

'W-what happened?'

Flick

[The monster seems to be fighting with another monster.]

'What?'

Eden thought as he walked towards a huge rock and climbed it.

BAAANG!

'…Dang.'

He muttered as he looked in front of him.

The monster that was attacking him just a second ago was getting beaten by another abomination of a snake.

This abomination of a snake was even bigger than the one that attacked him.

With its head reaching near the clouds, it was handling its opponent without breaking a sweat. The later one didn't seem to do much, or, to be more precise, it couldn't do much. It was powerless in front of the real monster.

'T-this place is too dangerous.'

Eden muttered as he jumped down from the rock and looked around.

'How far did I run?' He thought as he had run quite far.

'I have to look for a cover.'

Eden didn't want to come into contact with another monster at all.

He looked for a specific place and ran in that direction.

Eden had no way to know this, but he was getting farther from the red zone.

Drip Drip

Inside a small, dark cave, a liquid-dropping sound was frequently heard.

A few dark figures were seen laying down breathless and motionless— they were dead.

They looked like wolves but had three horns on their heads.

Drip Drip

Under their figure, a puddle of blood was forming, as it turns out that the liquid-dropping sound was from their blood.

"Agh."

A small groan resounded from the corner of the cave.

"I-I'm losing blood."

A figure was sitting on the ground with the support of the wall as he looked at the wolves in front of him.

"Am I going to end up like them too?" He muttered in a low voice.

Looking beside him, his hopes of surviving were shattered into pieces.

It was his arms. Blood was dripping from it too. The arm was also holding a sword, which looked like it was broken.

There were small, dark particles flowing around the arm as if they were slowly devouring it.

Those same dark particles were flowing around his body too. His body was covered in scars from where blood as well as dark particles were flowing, which were slowly devouring him.

The wolves also had dark particles around their bodies, as it was the same way they died.

Clang Clang

The figure moved his other arm into his bag, looking at all the empty bottles of glass. Tears dropped from his eyes.

"T-the potions aren't working either." He muttered, as all the empty bottles used to be full, but he used them all to stop whatever was happening to him. And even after that, nothing happened.

"Sigh… Forgive me, father. I just wanted to go for a hunt before going to the capital." He muttered as he looked at the necklace on his hand.

The necklace had blue jade on it, which was slowly getting engulfed in red.

"Who knew I would encounter such a mons..."

Thud Clang Clang Clang

His hands dropped down as the bag fell, making the bottles spread.

But the necklace remained on his palm.

The blue jade, which used to be blue, had completely turned red.

Srrrr

'What was that sound?'

The dark cave slowly started to light up as something slowly walked inside.

'Shit, I should have left when I saw the trail of blood at the entrance.'

Looking at the puddle of blood and big wolves like monsters, Eden didn't wait much longer to give up on this cave, as he immediately tried to trace his way back out.

Flick

[The monsters seem to be dead. This place is safe.]

'For real?' Eden stopped as he turned around and walked.

'What happened to them?' Looking at the big wolves with three black horns lying on the ground dead while entirely covered with scars was a dreadful sight to behold.

As he walked past them, he saw a human like figure lying on the ground.

'…What about him?'

Eden asked as he remained cautious.

Flick

[He seems to be dead too.]

'…Sigh.'

Breathing a breath of relief, Eden walked towards the dead figure. Just like the wolves, he was also covered in scars, with a puddle of blood forming below him.

'What happened to them?'

Eden thought as he looked at the bottles of glass spread everywhere.

Flick

[Please touch the individual laying in front of you.]

'…Why?'

Eden asked a question in surprise.

Flick

[Please do as I say.]

'…'

Eden didn't say much as he extended his limbs and touched the figure on his shoulder.

Flick

[A pure, complete human DNA detected. Collecting the DNA.]

'Wha-'

Whoosh

Before Eden could remove his limbs, he lost complete control over his body as the swarm of energy engulfed the figure in a matter of seconds.

Srrrrrr

The swarm of energy remained still as if it were trying to process something it just ate, which it was.

A few kilometers away from the cave, there was a spherical, dark object that floated above the ground.

It was a portal that led to a city.

Far above, directly above the portal, a small island of land was floating.

Unaffected by the currents of wind, unmoving, the island stood still.

The island was, in fact, the city the portal was connected to.

Due to its uniqueness compared to other cities, it was named the city of wind.

Woong

Inside a spacious room, a blue jade that was hanging by the wall suddenly turned red.

"I-I must inform the Lord." The guard, who was standing by the entrance to the spacious room, muttered in panic as he quickly tried to open the door.

Clack

But before he could even touch the door, the door was opened from the other side.

As the door opened, a person wearing a white robe walked in a hurry.

"Send a message to the four guild masters. I have a mission for them." The person wearing the white robe said as the guard gave up on his task to inform the Lord and followed what the white robed person said.

"Understood, sir." The guard said this as he left the room and walked towards the information center of the building.

Click Click Click

In a room, a lot of people were each working on a blue device that imprinted texts on the scrolls.

The guard ran towards the middle of the room, where a woman wearing glasses with green hair was nonstop typing on the blue device.

There were towers of documents around her, as she had bags under her eyes.

"Please send an emergency mission request to the four guild masters." The guard said as the lady stopped her fingers and looked at the guard.

"Mission contents?" She asked as the guard opened his mouth.

"Rescue mission."
