Chapter 33 - The Mission

Two days passed since Saor accepted Artis's quest, he was now covered with heavy clothes adorned by fox's fur.

He was getting ready to depart, his first destination, the deer's clan, thank god Artis gave him a detailed map, if not for that he was sure that he would have gotten lost in a matter of hours.

Looking behind him he gave his goodbye to that small ice village and departed in the snow.

Artis looking at Saor's back completely changed his attitude, his once weary eyes looked like normal and his sad demeanour disappeared almost as if all that he showed Saor was nothing more than a facade.

One of his guards looking at his chief felt proud, he knew that his boss always had the entire situation under his control, he knew how to manipulate Saor since the first time they met, he wasn't a fox for nothing.

...

Unbeknownst to Saor, he believed with all his heart that Artis was nothing more than a little child, his biggest error was to think as him as the same as a Less, the young members of the Glacials Clans matured way faster than any other creature.

After only one week of travel Saor found the deer's clan, or what remained of it, several huts were destroyed, most of them reduced to ashes, a charred black was everywhere.

There were some bodies, all of them severely disfigured, by the few number of corpses the remaining members of the clan probably escaped or got taken by the bear clan.

The situation was worse than what Artis thought, the bears were no longer trying to maintain the appearances, an all war started and with each clan divided it was impossible to stop them.

The clans needed a leader, one that could guide them towards a victory needed for their survival.

Saor knew that that burden practically hanged on his head.

He continued his travel after he buried the mutilated bodies of the poor deers.

After their village he also passed into the mouse's village, the rat's village and the reindeer home.

All of them were in the same sorry state of the first one, evident sign of fire were everywhere, Saor also found many steps in the snow near the moose's village, almost forty soldiers passed there.

His hopes began to falter, there was still only one village left, after three weeks of travel he finally arrived to the wolves village, and not in the best of the times.

At the center of the village a dozen of wolves could be seen fighting will all they had against only six bears, it seemed it was time for Saor to shine.
