Chapter 25 - The Day The Tree Burned

The morning came faster than expected, the rebels were all free from the seeds, free from Flora's control, Saor in front of them.

Evy looked around herself, a smile appearing on her face, it was time to get back her father, looking towards the council she shouted "It time to get back our freedom.

Meanwhile at the council, the six elders all had satisfied smiles on their faces, in front of them stood Alex his body lifted in air by some branches, the eldest of the elders Oberon started to speak "Today, in this fateful day, I sadly have to condemn, Alex the general of our army, as he tried to kill our fateful God, Flora, and overthrow our whole village".

"Now if there is no other interruption, it's time to kill this disbeliever..." as he took a wooden spear, sharp enough to kill, the rest of the village began chanting prayers to their lord.

After a few steps he got in front of Alex, a smile concealed on his cold face, whispering he said to Alex "Finally I can eliminate one of our biggest threats, it's time to disappear foolish general ".

The spear moved towards Alex pointing at his heart, just as the spear began penetrating into his skin a wooden arrow interrupted him, pushing his spear out of Alex.

Startled by this Oberon looked from where the arrow came, there on the door stood a group of Guardians, each of them armed with weapon and torches, Evy was the one that shot the first arrow.

"Y-you, how are you still alive ? our lord should have already punished you" he exclaimed with visible fear on his face.

Before he could muster more other arrows flew towards his destination, he parried almost all of them, with one hitting his shoulder.

What followed was a disaster, the loyalist Guardians of Flora began fighting against the rebels, some of them even switched side before the possible freedom.

Fire began growing more and more as the battle dragged itself on.

While this happened Saor got inside the secret room where the communion happened, there he and Flora stood face to face.

She said, with resentment "My perfect village, my blessed people, all of this ended because of you, because of you my dream will stay unrealised, if I must go down I will take you with me".

Saor with a cold face answered "You brought this ok yourself, taking the freedom from the very people you had to protect, you disgust me...I hope you're ready, because you're gonna die here".

After saying that Saor jumped in front of the tree, in his hands torches ready to set on fire the entire place.

A particular fast root got out of the ground trying to penetrate Saor, thanks to the senses he trained for hindreads of years he only got slightly wounded by it, the problem was that one of the torches fell, without arriving at the objective.

As he neared futher to tree so grew her power, more and more roots began appearing from the ground, all directed towards Saor.

He already passed the altar, fewer than four meter were missing, just as he got ready to trow the torch a sharp branch penetrated his hand destroing it.

It pinned him down holding his torch still, he dailed, all hope was lost, without the fire there was no way in which he could defeat Flora.

"Oh oh oh, it seems that your journey ends here, stranger, once I finish with you I will kill all the other fools that dared to oppose me, You can't kill me , You can't kill a goddess" hummed Flora.

Saor felt for the first time after a long time anger, it wasn't for what she said about the others, he wasn't that much attached to them, but it was for her exclamation, in that world the only gods were the stars and he couldn't accept other answers.

His rage began to accumulate, slowly he crawled to her trunk, he supported his body with the armor hand he had trying to get up.

As he tried that a burning smell entered his nostrils, fumes were coming out from where he putted his hand, slowly it became fire and the once laughing Flora began screaming like a madman, her screams could be heard from all over the village, Oberon hearing them tried to run to his God to help, but Alex, now free, blocked his way.

The fires grew slowly engulfing the entire forest, the rebels after rescuing Alex decided that it was better to escape towards the prairies followed by Saor.

That day one of the Titans died, engulfed in flames made by the burning rage of Saor and the scales of Magma.

That day would later become a cursed moment for the rebels and their descendants, a moment that would mark their existence for the rest of time.
