James watched as both Dago and Mara carefully placed their wands through the circle of wards that hovered in front of them. The wards were imprinted unto their wands and they began to glow with violet and royal blue colors.
Dago frowned as he stared at his wand. "This is wicked." He said in whisper.
Mara nodded. "Alright James. What do we need to do next?"
James took hold of their shoulders and apparition to the roof of the Wesley Library. He looked out over Hawks Landing. "Dago you take the south. Mara, you direct your Patroum to the north. You have to release them out at the same time. When your ready." He said and then he looked up at the sky as a violent storm began to suddenly rage above their heads.
"Looks like we got trouble coming mate. I don't think the patronums will be enough." Dago said with a frown.
"Think your right, bro." James said with a grin.
Mara laughed. "That's why we're going to have to do something different. On three. One."
James took his wand in right hand and positioned his left hand in front of him. His staff appeared before him and started to glow with a leaf green glow. "Two." He said his voice echoing.
Dago turned to the South at the same time Mara turned to the North. "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" They roared aiming their wands.
A glowing hawk Patronus flew out of Dago's wand soaring away toward the south. Mara's raven patronus raced away toward the north.
"Protego Maxima! Fianto DURI! Repello Inimicum!" James roared.
A warm green light expanded out suddenly for a a second. An energy shield appeared above their heads and quickly started to spread over the entire sky realm of Hawks Landing.
James sat on the roof suddenly tired. He watched Dago's hawk and Mara's raven PATRONUMS race up into the sky and explode generating a shield over the entire Hawks Landing and Potter ranch.
"What are you thinking?" Dago asked.
"I'm hoping it's going to hold because we got a lot of work to get caught up on for forty-eight hours." James said in a tired voice.
"How much protection do we have now? Can we talk openly now?" Mara asked sitting down beside him.
James looked up at the skies. They were calm. He stared off around the outward borders of Hawks Landing. He closed his eyes. He nodded his head. "I'm not feeling anyone watching us. Damn. It has been a while sense I've felt this private in my own space. What the hell why not. Let's go inside and we can talk." He said.
Dago took hold of his shoulder and they went into an apparition appearing inside the library on the floor. James sat crossed on the floor while Mara got up and gave him a sandwich. He took it biting into it with two bites as he studied the core in the middle of the room.
"What are you going to use that library core?" Mara asked.
"Better question is why you even made the thing?" Dago said.
"I didn't?" James said chewing on his sandwich.
Both Dago and Mara rolled their eyes at him. James snorted laughter. "I didn't make the concept of it. But, I did figure out how to engineer the spell to draw it out of the my mother's mind."
"You not going to try and make us believe the core was entirely a work of your mother's mind. It was your magic that brought it out so that would make you the engineer of it."
James nodded. "Correct. I didn't think of the concept but I was able to engineer and generate it into existence using the core mechanics I've studied from the structure of this realm we're now in."
Dago nodded. "So this place. Isn't on earth at all is it?"
James shook his head. "No. It isn't. But that is pretty obvious by now to everyone." He said and chewed on his sandwich.
Mara stared at him and back at the core. "We have forty-eight hours. I'm guessing the project we're about to do is very tricky. I think we should get into it."
James nodded finishing his sandwich. "The protection spells we created around Hawks Landing won't last forever and I promised my mother forty-eight hours so let's get to it."
James brought his hand forward and the sword appeared hovering in front of him. "We're going to study this sword and figure out the elements in it that correspond to the realm we're now in."
"Hmm. Interesting." Dago said with a hand to his chin he rubbed it gentle as he pondered and study the sword in front of them. Your thinking we can use it as a key to reinforcing stronger protection wards around the place?"
"Yes." James said.
Dago smiled. "Yes completely or yes that is just one of the uses you have for the sword?"
"Yes." James said with a grin.
"Smart ass!" Dago said.
"James." Mara said gentle. "I thought you agreed to be more open with us for at least the time we have a window to have eyes on us."
James nodded. "I did and I will but I'm going to ask you straight yourselves more. So far I've been the only one to crack the spell engineering to this place and work it for good use. I'm going ask you to share the load with me and learn how to do the same so we can expand Hawks Landing at a faster rate. I can be the chief construct engineer here forever."
Dago nodded his head tapping a finger on the blade of the sword. "Well put mate. He's right Mara. We should concentrate more on figuring out how to protect and grow Hawks Landing then figuring out ever the hell James is doing behind the scenes regarding it. It doesn't matter any way."
"It doesn't matter?" Mara said.
James smiled but said nothing grabbing another sandwich from the pic nic basket while they talked.
Dago nodded. "Yeah. It doesn't matter whatever plan James is creating or crafting. What happens is what we can do here. Whatever his plan is he's going to do the right the thing. You know that. I know that. There's nothing else that needs to be said about it. Do you think we can replicate this thing?"
Mara opened her mouth and then closed it and then looked at the sword more closely.
"Hmm. A copy. That is a good idea. Though I don't know if it will be perfect or as powerful as the original." She said and then looked at James. "Do you think it will possible to make a one for one copy?"
James stared at the sword. "No. Not a one for one copy in power but we can use it to make maybe seven copies I think. It should be enough for the guardians." He said.
"What other guardians? Why seven copies?" Mara asked.
Dago snorted in laughter shaking his head. Mara sent him a glare. "What?"
Dago shook his head waving toward James. Mara looked back at James expectantly. James grinned. "Right now there are five guardians of Hawks Landing. I was thinking we might need more possibly."
"Who are the seven guardians then?" Mara asked.
"You, me, James, Ava and Angus. That makes five guardians." Dago said. "Five people that have contributed to Hawks Landing. Much in the same way Hogwarts has it's guardians. Though this isn't a school of course."
"Correct. Top marks for perfect deductions and excellently well put answer bro." James said.
Dago pumped his fist in the air. "Boom! You should be asking me all the questions. I'm the genius out of the three of us."
Mara stared at him. "You honestly don't care about-"
"-No. I don't. I don't give a shit Mara. That's James business not mean. I'm just happy he brought on to this project. Mara. Look at where we are. Look at the things we've seen and accomplished in the sky realm. The ideas and spells we made in school we've tested out here and the warding wheel of protection spells we've crafted. We've made history every day here Mara. Don't know what that means." Dago said shaking his head with a smile. "The ride doesn't end."
"The ride doesn't end my friend." James said.
Dago slapped his hands together. "I got an idea. I need my whiteboard." He said and started to walk away.
"Wait." James said.
Dago stopped looking back at him. "What? I have to write it down first."
James still sitting on the floor eating a sandwich. "Pick a spoke and start writing with your wand. It'll show up. Go on." He said and continued eating.
Dago took out his wand and then holding it like a pen he turned and started writing in the air and his whiteboard appeared in front of him. He paused for a second to dance and went back to writing on his whiteboard happily.
James grinned at his friend and looked at Mara but she was frowning at him. "You got any spell ideas for clone the sword?"
Mara sighed shaking her head. She pointed at the column of magical energy in the middle of the room. "I'm thinking of coming up with something using the core as the source."
James nodded. "Good. Write out the concept first and-"
"How tired are you?" Mara asked him. "You've been using a lot of energy lately and you didn't get that much rest last night."
James smiled. "I'll be down for a few days. I used up a lot of my energy in building the magical force-field around Hawks Landing."
Mara closed her eyes and sighed tiredly. "Oh. Of course. I should have realised that now but I was to busy asking a lot of questions. Rest. Have enough food at the tower. Dago and I will take up the work needed."
