Chapter 29 - The goblin fight club

With his new and very scientific plan formulated it was time to see it through.

Yet, before he could even start a message popped up in front of his magical visor that would change his view of the useless C entirely.

[The instructed goblin has killed another goblin 0.5 XP gained.]

Moros could only tip his non-existent hate before C, its heroic sacrifice for the greater good had confirmed that he could get XP for instructing and teaching A and B how to throw a punch.

C would always live on in his heart as he had advanced scientific understanding by a few years.

He took one last look at its battered and bruised dead body, before completely forgetting about it ever having existed. With newfound passion, he went on to locate another C and maybe a D.

The goblin fight club could never wait.

Stepping into the forest A and B followed Moros wordlessly. Their hands covered in the blood of an unnamed and forgotten goblin that had once lived in the forest with them.

The search for their next victim, sorry the next 'volunteer for science' came in the form of two knife-wielding goblins that ran at Moros with madness in their eyes.

Yet, after their knives were removed they too were rather docile.

Not waiting for Moros to say a word, A and B walked forwards and punched their newfound best buddies in their faces.

C2 and D looked at Moros with pitiful eyes, as if they were asking what to do. However the scientist stayed silent, as he watched on in curiosity to determine how his first 2 students would behave without any instructions given from the side.

"Subject A shows a preference to target the penis of its enemies. Whereas test subject B shows no strong indication for a preferred target area, as its punches aim for the entire body."

A and B were not distracted by Moros' observations as they happily continued to do what they were taught.

In their endless enthusiasm they did not stop unless Moros would make them, which he clearly had no desire to.

It did not take long that C2 and D were sent to join C1 in the realm of the forgotten assistant and the trio went to find new people to experiment with.

Of course, it did not take long till more candidates for C3 and D2 were located. This time however, Moros let the new assistant keep their knives as he wanted to see what would change if he did so.

A and B were far from deterred by their new short-term colleagues being armed, they simply threw punches at their faces.

C3 and D2 did not attack them back with their weapons, they simply ran at Moros and tried to stab him.

Thus, the scientist continued to dodge, the goblins armed with a knife ran after him to stab him, A and B ran after C3 and D2 to punch them to death.

This dance continued for a while until the temporary co-workers were sent to work at another place far, far, far away. Moros thanked their sacrifice and decided to test another thing.

But for this, he needed some new faces, he needed a C4, a D3 and an E.

This time it was to determine if they were more than 2 targets, whom they would target first.

The test itself followed normal procedure, after the punching bags had been found. It started off with Moros dodging the attackers as he had done prior. The goblins started to throw punches, preferring to throw punches at the one goblin that they had already targeted.

They did not appear to swap targets unless their colleague had already stopped ceasing and breathing.

Moros confirmed this by breaking the neck of one of the goblins that A had been targeting at that moment.

After the C4 was no more, A swapped its target to E without a second thought.

The rest that followed was as per expectations as the A and B punched till the other goblins disappeared from the face of Avarosia.

"Test results indicate a goblin to not be capable of attacking one enemy as their focus does not allow them to do so. More tests have to be conducted to understand the target process of a trained goblin."

So, Moros and the duo of goblins went on to test this theory again. C5, D4 and E2 proved the thesis to be true, as the result from the prior test repeated itself.

Even without outside interference from Moros, the trained goblins only stopped after one of their targets had died.

"For the time being, the idea of turning goblins into formidable soldiers is put off. Perhaps, goblins of higher class are needed to switch the targets in the middle of the fight."

Next, Moros needed to confirm if there were any differences if the goblins punched with their left or right hand.

As of now, they merely had punched with their right hands as Moros had only taught them to do it in this manner. Yet, after repeating the process done, they soon began to throw punches with the left and the right.

Another battle was conducted and no virtual difference was detected in their preferences for either hand. Notable, however, is that the punches with the left hand displayed less damage down with each attack.

As such one can deduce A and B to have a dominant right arm.

Fascinatingly to Moros' amazement not once had either of them shown a desire to attack the other. They stood side by side and waited to be brought towards the targets that Moros sent their way.

To further test their innate responses, he handed both of them a knife to see if they would start to attack him again.

Yet, none of them was willing to hold onto their knives. Every time the weapon was placed inside the palm of their hands they let it fall down to the floor, before clenching their hands into fists yet again.

"It appears that a trained Goblin is capable of suppressing the instinct. Or, and this is my view. One can train them to follow a new instinct by guiding their actions into the desired direction."

The next test was to determine if Moros' presence was the trigger for the change in nature and what would happen if they came across new test subjects without him near.

Running into the forest, he ran far away from A and B so that they could not see him.

After locating a new target for them, Moros quickly grabbed it and climbed onto the closest tree with the goblin that still tried to stab him at all costs.

Silently, he tried to approach the pair of trained goblins atop the trees before dropping the bloodthirsty goblin directly before them.

Seeing the goblin falling from the sky, the two of them did as they had always done and began to punch the goblin before them.

A punched its manhood as it always liked to do, while B massaged its face with his rights and lefts. This development continued until the bloodthirsty goblin was by all definitions of the word dead.

After killing the goblin, the two of them continued to search for their master as if nothing had happened.

Moros was filled with pride, he, the scientist was not needed here anymore. His students had taken on the spirit of the fist and now practised science to every goblin that ran across their faces.

"Truly, science is for all ages and species."

Yet, Moros was dropped down again before the two of them, because he needed to make sure that even if he went back to Elysium, that the idea of science would never die.

Finding yet another goblin in the wild he caught it with his bare hands. Instead of letting A and B hit it till death, he guided them in his hands on approach to copy the hands on approach he did to them.

It did take a few tries and some more heroic sacrifices from other goblins. But, at long last an F was finally created.

The goblins could not teach each other and spread the idea of throwing punches all over the realm.

He was a proud father, but he was no longer needed.

His job here was done.

As such, as every father does someday, he had to leave his kids to fend for themselves. Running up the tree he did not dare to look back.

They had not known each other for long, but to Moros, they were the family he never had.

Hiding from the top of a tree, he watched on as A and B and F marched on into the depths of the Evergreen Forest.

A tear of happiness falling down his face.

… his 3 children moved on into the distance. The three most excellent goblin scientists known to this world.

May they spread intellectualism all over the whole realm and fill the goblin children of all ages with the spirit of science.
