Chapter 52 - CHAPTER FORTY SIX: SERAPHINA VS THE CANNIBAL LEADER

The cannibal leader's grin widened as she saw confusion and astonishment in Seraphina's gaze. She liked watching her prey struggle before she feasted on it.

Blood-red aura condensed in her right hand as she punched the laser beam of light.

BOOM

The laser beam of light shattered at her strength. Her blood-red aura began to devour the light, converting it into its own strength.

BOOM

The cannibal leader stomped her feet to the ground and rushed toward Seraphina, a blood-red aura condensing on both her arms and legs.

Seraphina widened her eyes as she noticed how easily the cannibal leader destroyed her attack.

'Magic Arts: Shield of Ajax'

Suddenly, the spear in the hands of Seraphina turned into a beam of light and converted into a massive shield covering her entire body. Magic runes and circles covered its surface as the punch of the cannibal leader landed on it.

BOOM

"ACK!!"

BANG

"AHHH!"

BANG

The cannibal leader's immense strength tore through the shield and landed on Seraphina's hands, sending her flying and crashing into Achlys.

TAP

TAP

TAP

The cannibal leader's eyes shone with madness as she deliberately hit Seraphina toward Achlys; she wanted to make the girls fall into despair.

"Are you okay?" Achlys asked as she groaned in pain; she too was injured, but her vampire regenerative abilities kicked in and healed the injuries.

"Y-Yeah, I am okay," Seraphina mumbled with great difficulty; blood leaked from her mouth, and her hands, which were hit by the cannibal leader, were now drenched in her blood.

SHIVER SHIVER

Her hands shivered due to the immense pain, but she had to hold on; she knew that the cannibal leader was playing games with her and would not kill her until she was kneeling in despair.

She turned toward the dome, which now had cracks running through it. "I will hold on!" she muttered as she curled her broken hand into fists.

Her body screamed in pain, but still, she held on. Her eyes turned resolute as she turned toward the cannibal leader.

"How many minutes has it been since we called Lady Aquila?" Achlys muttered as she bit her lip. She too wanted to help but couldn't, as she was too weak to be of any help.

"It's been four minutes; we still have to hold on for another few," Seraphina informed. They were too deep in the forest, and Aquila must avoid confronting powerful monsters as they would surely come when someone as powerful as she enters the forest.

"C-Can we hold on until then?" Achlys stammered as she turned to the cannibal leader. She was a few feet away, walking so slowly that a turtle might outrun her.

"We have to hold on!" Seraphina said, resolute. She turned to her to-be sister wife and said, "Our husband is too weak right now to protect us, so we have to make sure that he returns the favor after he becomes powerful." She added with a smirk, 'I will definitely make him work a lot!' She thought as she gazed at the cannibal monster.

Achlys gained a little confidence with Seraphina's words. A small smile bloomed on her face as she imagined William saving them from a monster, making her blush a little.

'No, I must protect him so that we can make it happen!' she thought. Her vampiric blood-red eyes shone as darkness spread from her. It engulfed the light dome, devouring the light.

The dome now turned dark, and red blood veins swirled around the dome, giving it an ominous look.

The cannibal woman, who was now just two feet away from Seraphina, raised her eyebrow a little at the girl's resolute expression.

Her grin had turned from ear to ear as she watched the girls in amusement; she began to sway around as if she were drunk.

She liked this; her prey was struggling desperately to survive. OH! How much she had missed this! She took a deep breath as if intoxicated by their actions.

WOONG WOONG

The bloody aura around her began to sway frantically, emitting waves of energy as the cannibal leader turned round and round.

Seraphina's face turned grim at this; she knew that the games were almost over and the real deal would start from now.

'I can't use weak attacks anymore. They will not have any effect on that monster! Should I use my strongest attack? Even then, there is no guarantee that it will work. But...' Her face turned toward the dome, ignoring the swaying cannibal leader.

'If it failed, I will die.... Achlys will die,' she chuckled as she thought about Achlys; she knew how much she tried to spend time with William. '...And most importantly, William would die!'

At first, when she heard from her father, the ruler of the holy continent, that she had been sold off to a brat. She was angry; she cursed her father using her divine mouth so much that it would make even a demon blush in shame.

But she knew she had no choice; no matter how much she cursed, she knew her father would not change his decision.

When she first met William, she confirmed her opinions: William was a brat, a spoiled brat. But he was her future husband.

At first, she was a little irritated by his behavior; he was too innocent and naive and liked to play a lot! There's a literal army coming to kill us, and he has time to play!

But the more time she spent with him, the more she got to like him; then one day she thought, 'William is just a kid and the world made him their warrior and almost threw all the responsibilities on him.' She thought it was unfair to him.

From that day on, she began to genuinely like him; she watched as he struggled and as he laughed, and every time, she came to like him more.

'Maybe...he was not so bad,' she turned toward the cannibal leader, who was still in her own mind.

'No one can harm my husband!' she thought, resolute.

"Achlys, I will use all my mana in this attack! If she survives even after this, take William and run as fast as you can. I will hold her somehow!"

"B-But!" Achlys asked while trembling; she couldn't imagine her new friend... no, her sister, dying.

"It's okay," Seraphina comforted; she knew this must be hard for her, but this was the only way.

SNIFF

Achlys sniffed as she took a deep breath and nodded at her sister resolutely. She readied herself to move at any moment and kept her guard up.

Seraphina then raised her trembling arms that were leaking blood. Her white bones engraved in golden runes became visible as her wounds were already healing, albeit a lot slower than Achlys.

'Magic arts: Arjuna's Gandiva!'

A majestic bow began to form in Seraphina's left hand; it was long, really long, almost double Seraphina's height.

It shone in golden light as celestial markings of a warrior battling hundreds of thousands of soldiers on a divine chariot began to swirl around its bow.

The string, as if made out of the divine threads of fate itself, stood sturdy, connecting the bow's two ends.

Seraphina's face began to pale as she felt mana leaving her body. She was giving it her all!

The cannibal leader, who was dancing around like a drunkard, stopped; she swiftly turned toward Seraphina. Her expression changed from a maniacal grin to a frown. That bow gave her a bad feeling.

'Magic arts: Surya Astra! Illuminate the battlefield with your brilliance and purge my enemies!'

WHOOSH WHOOSH

The air around Seraphina changed; her mana gathered around a single point, which shone in brilliant divine light. The single point then elongated into an arrow; it shone like a sun as an engraving of a man riding a chariot of seven horses purging the darkness appeared on its tip.

WOONG WOONG

The arrow began to emit waves of energy so powerful that it almost ripped the shield to shreds.

RAAAWR

The cannibal leader immediately took a step back as she saw the arrow getting nocked to the bow. If the bow gave her a bad feeling, the arrow gave her a feeling of imminent death.

RAAAWR

She roared at Seraphina, who now was more and more pale; light began to fade away from her eyes as she was on the verge of losing conciousness.

The cannibal leader began to condense all her aura into a single point. She could rush toward Seraphina right at this moment, but she would die even if an incomplete arrow of its caliber could kill her in an instant if she were not prepared.

GRRR

She growled as she could hear the sound of the bowstring creaking as Seraphina extended it, aiming at the cannibal leader's heart.

She should not have played with her food. She should have killed them the moment she laid eyes on them; her army was too far off to use them as shields, so she had no choice but to face it herself.

'Divine Bow Arts: Rama's valiant strike!'

The battlefield turned dead silent; Seraphina's golden eyes stared at the cannibal woman's frantic and nervous blood-red eyes. She could almost taste the fear of the cannibal woman as she desperately gathered her aura to defend against the arrow.

PHEW

Seraphina exhaled, calming her mind, her eyes now resembling a still lake as she.

FWOOSH

The arrow was released.

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

The arrow turned into a streak of light, chasing the darkness. It scorched the earth while burning everything in its path.

RAAAWR

The cannibal woman roared in anger and punched all her aura toward the oncoming arrow; she too had to give everything, or else she would die!

Her bloody aura exploded toward the aura, devouring everything in its path.

The battlefield turned into a majestic piece of art, as the divine golden streak of light met the evil blood red.

BOOOOOOOOM
