"mhmm, where am I?" Seraphina grumbled as her eyelids fluttered open.
William and Achlys immediately turned toward her when they heard her voice.
"Seraphina, are you okay?" William asked as he placed his hand on hers, making her glance at him.
"William, where are we? What happened to that cannibal woman? Did we defeat that thing?" Seraphina hurled questions at the duo while frowning and looking around the infirmary.
She only let her guard down when she recognized it as the infirmary and sighed in relief that they were not in danger anymore.
William clenched his jaw as he heard Seraphina's question; he tightened the grip on both his hands, grabbing the attention of both women.
Achlys, too, perked her ears up as she was interested to know what happened.
SNIFF
William took a deep breath while calming his heart; he still thought that Seraphina shouldn't have done that, but what happened has happened.
"After your attack the cannibal leader died and you both have lost consciousness."
Achlys and Seraphina smiled in relief to know that the cannibal leader had died. They both looked at William as if to say, 'Continue the story.'
"After you have both lost consciousness, the dome disintegrated," William muttered while he tightly clenched his jaw. He narrowed his eyes while frustration was evident on his face at his helplessness.
"I am sorry; I had to do it," Seraphina whispered while she placed her other hand on his. Little tears formed at the corners of her eyes while she pursed her lips.
William, however, took a deep breath as he shook his head. "There is no need to apologize; I know you both did it for my own good." He reassured.
The girls widened their eyes a little when they heard William's words. They understood that their fiancé had matured a lot through this incident and smiled as they knew that this was a good thing.
Seraphina then smiled mischievously as she asked, "Then, William, what do you think of my performance?"
William's cheeks reddened a little at Seraphina's question, while Achlys snorted at her sister-wife as she muttered inwardly, 'Shameless woman!'
"I-I think you both were beautiful on the battlefield," William stammered as he praised both girls.
Seraphina and Achlys both blushed at William's answer. They never thought that William would reply to Seraphina's teasing.
Seraphina quickly recovered from the mild shock and smiled at him, 'It's good that he is maturing, it makes my work easy.'
She then moved as little outward while patting the bed in the middle and looking at him.
William nodded his head and walked over to the other side with Achlys and sat in the middle of the bed.
GULP
William gulped as he felt both girls' shoulders rubbing against his, but his eyes widened in shock when he felt Seraphina leaning her head on his shoulders.
Achlys pursed her lips; she then shook her head a little while clenching her fists. 'I should do it too!' she resolved and then leaned her head on his other shoulder.
William's breath halted when he felt both the girls leaning their heads on his shoulders; his heartbeat quickened while his cheeks turned a little red.
"Ar-"
"Shhh! Don't talk!"
As William was about to ask the girls about something, Seraphina shushed him and ordered him to shut up.
William's body tensed up while he nodded his head like a chicken, which made the girls smile in amusement.
SIGH
Seraphina sighed as she closed her eyes; Achlys, too, closed her eyes, slowly drifting to sleep.
'Is this what Father meant?' William questioned himself as he looked at the girls who were fast asleep.
'It's not a bad feeling, though?' he mumbled as a small smile bloomed on his face. Somehow, he felt that he was at peace; he too closed his eyes.
......
"Are you sure that the girls are all right, Lady Gaia?" Ara asked in worry as she walked toward the infirmary. She began to walk toward the infirmary as soon as Ophiscus came to their bedroom and informed her that Gaia had arrived.
She met Gaia along the way and asked her about the girls and her son's health.
"Yes, the trio is fine. You can go check on them if you want, but I would not advise you to do so just yet."
Ara narrowed her eyes while looking at Gaia; she thought that this woman was hiding something from her but couldn't figure out what, so she asked, "What do you mean, Lady Gaia?"
However, Gaia didn't answer; she only smiled mysteriously and walked away to find Ophiscus.
Ara stood there dumbfounded by Gaia taking off abruptly and looked back and forth while trying to decide whether to listen to Gaia's advice or not.
'He is my son; I should definitely go see him.' She decided and walked toward the infirmary.
She reached the infirmary in a few moments and opened the door.
"Son, are you—" Ara's voice trailed off as she saw her son sleeping on the bed with his two fiancées by his side.
'What the...? When did my little baby grow up so much?' she questioned herself, unwilling to believe what she was seeing.
'It must be that girl's fault!' She blamed Seraphina, who was sleeping with a smile that looked similar to a satisfied cat.
She pursed her lips while she thought of disturbing their alone time, but then shook her head while mumbling, "From what my big sister has said, you both have saved William's life. I will accept you both as my daughters-in-law and hope that you will live your lives harmoniously."
She then walked out of the infirmary while closing the door behind her, only to see her husband along with her sisters.
Ara was a little surprised to see them, but she smiled as she turned toward the infirmary and muttered, "Our son is lucky to have found such good women!"
Ophiscus and her sisters smiled at her words while Ophiscus walked behind Ara and hugged her. Carina and Aquila, too, walked beside Ophiscus and leaned their heads on his shoulders while Aquila muttered, "Yes. He is indeed quite lucky."
'Thank you, father. For the lesson you have taught me, you may not have been an ideal father, but your life has taught me a lot and made me what I am today,' Ophiscus mumbled inwardly while he recalled his now-dead father.
"Let's leave the kids alone, shall we?" Ophiscus asked his wives while turning around. Ara and her sisters nodded their heads while saying, "Yes."
...............
A few hours had passed since the trio had fallen asleep, and Seraphina and Achlys had already woken up and were whispering to each other.
"I think he has changed a little," Achlys whispered toward Seraphina while she looked at William, who was sleeping peacefully.
Seraphina, too, smiled at her sister-wife's words while she glanced at her fiancé and answered, "I think so, too."
Achlys nodded her head and continued, "Before going to that forest, he didn't even talk to us much, and now he's sharing a bed with us."
Seraphina raised an eyebrow at Achlys, "Careful now, sister, your words might mean something else, or were you meaning that from the start?" she teased while an amused smile blossomed on her face.
Achlys's face reddened as she recalled her words while she softly yelled, "Shameless."
"Fufufu," Seraphina laughed, watching the blushing Achlys; she was just too cute not to tease.
"I concede," Achlys suddenly said, while her face turned serious; she looked at Seraphina with a serious look on her face while her blood-red eyes shone in resolve.
Seraphina, too, turned her face serious and stared back at her. They might not say it out loud, but Seraphina knew what Achlys was talking about: the position of the main wife.
Both the girls were competing to be William's first or main wife without his knowledge, and Achlys had just conceded, admitting her defeat.
'Father would definitely scold me if he knew this, but she deserves this more than I do,' she resolved.
Seraphina nodded her head in acknowledgment; she knew how important the position of main wife was and how influential it could be, especially when it came to William.
'I should not say that it doesn't matter and that we all are equal; it would make it seem that I am undermining her resolve. Instead, I should show it in my actions, just like Lady Aquila.' Seraphina mumbled inwardly. She knew that it would hurt Achlys's pride if she dismissed her words and just nodded her head.
Achlys too smiled at her big sister. She knew that it wouldn't change anything and Seraphina would order her around from now on. Her words were a form of respect she wanted to show toward Seraphina for her actions.
She then turned toward William, who was still sleeping soundly and looked as if he might not wake up any time soon. "We should make sure he doesn't get scammed by other girls." She muttered, she knew that there would be more girls joining him and thought that they should protect him from girls who had nefarious intentions.
TSK TSK
Seraphina, however, clicked her tongue in disagreement and muttered, "My little sister, we should make sure that he doesn't look at other girls."
She then poked William's cheeks and murmured, "Wake up, sleepyhead."
