Chapter 49 - CHAPTER FORTY THREE: THE BATTLE BEGINS!

William stared at hundreds, if not thousands, of goblins neatly arranged as an army. 'We should retreat,' he mumbled to himself.He was not afraid of the army; most of the goblins were apprentices and amateurs, but he was worried about Achlys and Seraphina.He can handle hundreds of apprentices and amateurs. But he didn't know if Achlys and Seraphina could handle multiple opponents at once.Sure, they were more powerful than he was, but that doesn't mean that they should recklessly wage a war without any plan.He then turned toward the girls and was about to tell them it was a good choice to retreat, but, "Eh?"William exclaimed, he was confused by the expressions on Achlys's and Seraphina's faces. Both of them were grinning at the goblin's army as if they were looking at a tasty meal.'Why are they smiling like that?' William wondered to himself as he was bewildered by their expressions. He could understand Seraphina getting excited since she was always outgoing and was competitive.But Achlys's expression was totally unexpected. She was grinning at the goblins as if she were looking at a good punching bag.But, if William knew why they looked like that, he'd turn beet red with embarrassment. 'Hehehe, now I have the perfect chance to show off to William,' Seraphina exclaimed inwardly.Achlys, too, was thinking the same. She wanted to show off to William; she knew she wouldn't get anywhere if she stayed passive. That's why she resolved that she would be more active.The duo noticed William looking at them and turned toward him. Seraphina smiled at him and said, "William, you take care of the apprentices and amateurs; Achlys and I will take care of the experts and masters.""Ah!" William was confused by their excitement, but still, he nodded his head hesitantly and turned toward the army.The master goblin too was done with barking orders at the goblins and turned toward the trio; he raised his hand, which was holding a big axe.KRAAAHe roared, starting the battle. Hundreds of goblins moved in unison toward the three.RUMBLR RUMBLEThe earth shook in their wake as they rushed toward William and the girls. When they were halfway there to the trio, the army split itself into three.Experts and the Master Goblin went toward Seraphina, who was a master. Adepts and a few more experts went toward Achlys, and the rest of the army went toward William.Their plan was to quickly eliminate William and join the rest of the army to kill Achlys and Seraphina.Achlys and Seraphina distanced themselves from William to have room to move around. "Be careful, William. And watch how we do, okay?" Seraphina said as she sent him a flying kiss. She too decided to be more active in pursuing him."B-Be careful!" Achlys also wanted to do it, but was too embarrassed and quickly fled the scene.William's cheeks turned a little red at Seraphina's shamelessness. But he quickly shook his head, cleared his mind, and gazed at the oncoming army.'I can use all my understanding of harmony and also experiment a few things.' He thought, while he too developed a grin on his face.KRAAAAThe goblins, as if maddened by the grins on the trio's faces, roared in anger and rushed at them even faster.William looked at the rushing goblins with calm; he forced himself not to smile and calmed his excited mind.He freed his clenched fists, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath to relax. He then slowly opened his amethyst eyes, which were now calm as a still lake.'Let's start with 'Wind' first.' He decided and raised his hands to call forth 'Wind'.The mana in his core rushed into his hands while turning itself into wind mana. When William called wind mana, the neutral mana in his core would rush out of his core, and the intent of 'Wind' was added to it the moment it comes out of his body.This happens in everybody, but they cannot control it like William can and also cannot differentiate it like William can.The wind mana rushed out of his body and gathered in the sky. It sucked all the wind near it while forming a massive sphere. The trees around the sphere swayed as their branches broke because the sphere's pull was too strong. The broken branches were thrown everywhere by the wind sphere.FWOOSHSome of them pierced through the army, killing some of them.William then curled his hand into a fist, which made the sphere compress itself.BOOMBOOMBOOMThe sphere grew smaller and smaller; with thunderous booms, it shrank itself until it was the size of a goblin.William then stared at the rushing army, which was now cautiously looking at the wind sphere. Their green eyes wavered while watching how easily the wind sphere was shredding the trees nearby and throwing the branches like twigs.KRAAA KRAAA KRAAAOne of the goblins, who was better equipped and was emitting an aura of an adept, roared in anger as it turned to its subordinates. It fumed in anger as its subordinates wavered at William's attack.The goblin then pointed its hand toward William and roared again.KRAAAAt its last roar, even though the goblin soldiers hesitated, ran toward him. Their feet quivered slightly with each step they took and glanced at the wind sphere once in a while.A small smile tugged at his lips when he saw the goblins hesitate. He opened his mouth slightly, took a shallow breath, and swung his hand down.FWOOSHThe wind sphere hurled toward the goblin army like a streak of light, shredding everything in its path as it passed through the forest.KRA KRA KRAAAAThe goblins at the front screamed in horror as their green eyes widened in surprise while they felt goosebumps all over their green skin.They turned around and ran in the opposite direction of the oncoming attack.THUDThe goblins behind the front lines fell on their backs as the front-line goblins pushed them while they ran away in fright.K-KRA KRAOne of the goblins who was lying on the ground looked at the sphere rushing toward it. Its eyes quivered as tears came down its cheeks. Its entire body shivered in terror as the sphere swallowed it.The goblin could feel razor-sharp winds tearing its skin to pieces. It watched as the wind tore off its skin, then its muscles, until the bones were visible. But it couldn't watch more as the wind shredded its eyes, turning it blind before it shredded its brain.The wind sphere, which was white, turned deep green as it swallowed more goblins. It pierced through the goblin army's ranks, which were now in disarray.William's fighting prowess was similar to that of a peak expert who was ready to become a master. The goblin army, even though they overestimated his prowess and sent an army, still underestimated him.William looked at the mayhem with an impassive gaze. There was no smile on his lips, and his eyes showed no emotion.But a fire burned through William's heart as his mind repeatedly flashed the images of the goblins staring at Achlys and Seraphina with lust.He repeatedly kept imagining his mother in their place. If he had agreed to let Aquila come with him, the goblins would have stared at her with lust, too.His heart burned with rage as he looked at the dying goblins. "I will eradicate them." He growled, his voice leaking his contained fury.The wind sphere continued on its path, shredding the goblins. The adept goblin, who was in the middle of the army ranks, stared at the sphere while gritting its rotten teeth.It positioned itself in front of the oncoming sphere and raised its axe to split the sphere down the moment it reached him.FWOOSHThe goblin stomped its legs on the ground and tensed its rugged muscles, swinging the axe at the oncoming sphere. The axe traveled in a perfect curve, cutting the air; its blade glistened under the torchlight as it went down on the sphere.SWOOSHBut before the axe could reach the sphere, William mumbled under his breath, "Boom."BOOOOOOOMThe wind mana exploded like a bomb, serving its true purpose. The condensed wind mana expanded rapidly outward.The adept goblin didn't have the time to react as his body was crushed by the weight of the wind and was thrown like a broken kite. The wind expanded outward like a shockwave, engulfing hundreds of goblins and trees.It threw everything in its path into the air and crushed them with its overwhelming force. The explosion killed nearly a hundred goblins while severely injuring several hundred others.K-KRAAThe goblins who were injured cried in agony as they lay on the ground. Some of their legs got crushed while some had their torsos cut in two by the debris. Different organs were splattered across the battlefield, with dead goblins in the mix.The goblins at the back looked at the dead goblins in horror. The stench of the blood and organs of their dead comrades hit them like a tsunami. Their bodies shivered at the thought of fighting the monster in front of them. But unfortunately for them, the attack wasn't over yet."Return."
