"Wyetta, you've proved your point already. Get down from there," a rangy, young lady possessing pepper and salt hair and amber eyes clamoured with both hands on her waist, a worried expression on her beautiful face.
"No, Loyce, I just need to go a little higher.," the petite lady said as she reached for the tree branch above her.
"I don't think that one can hold your weight," A still-concerned Loyce said, this time her hands were no longer on her waist but crossed on her chest.
"Calm down. You never know, it could be the sturdiest branch in this whole tree. Have a little faith, baby girl," Wyetta grinned, her green eyes twinkling as she finally reached the branch.
"I'm light, so I'll hold on to the branch with one hand. Then, I'll assume a cool and enviable pose. All you have to do is take mouthwatering photos," the determined female added, causing the woman below to sigh in defeat.
"Seriously?! Last time, you almost got crippled. If you fall from this height, you won't even die with your body intact, at least your brain will be rolling miles away from your exhausted skull," Loyce complained but Wyetta was hearing none of it.
"Come on, girl. This isn't as dangerous as last time. I've taken my husband's advice to heart and this is my docileness," Wyetta reasoned.
Loyce sighed again, "My brother really did great; He married a bigger daredevil. I hope little Thalia doesn't turn out like you two."
"Why?" the thrill seeker questioned.
Loyce rolled her eyes, "Because if there are three daredevils in the home, I could collapse,"
In response, Wyetta chuckled. At this point, she was already dangling from the branch on one hand.
Resignedly, Loyce took out her phone and began to take photos while Wyetta tried to make different stylish poses.
After a few minutes, Loyce wanted to put the phone away, "It's time for you to get down,"
"Oh come on! Just one more please and I promise, I'll find my way down." Wyetta begged and her sister-in-law groaned in exasperation.
"I've already lost count of how many times you said that. Find your way to the ground,"
"I swear to the goddess, It's the last shot. Please?"
Loyce harrumphed before asking, "What's the ultimate pose you have in mind?"
"Easy! I'll let go of the branch for a few seconds and look at you with the 'peace' sign."
"Are you crazy? Sigh Why am I even asking that? Fine!"
At Loyce's count of three, Wyetta let go of the branch, her hands making the 'V' sign while she looked joyous.
A few seconds after the pic was taken, Wyetta was already holding the branch that now had signs of breaking.
A worried Loyce put her phone in her denim jean pants back pocket. Afterward, she ordered her naughty sister-in-law to get off.
"Of course I will. That was the last short you took. Here I go," Wyetta let go of the branch and she dropped downwards.
"You…!" A speechless and anxious Loyce jumped high and quickly caught Wyetta before safely landing on the ground.
Putting an excited Wyetta down, Loyce wanted to facepalm. "You really know no fear, huh?"
"You already know the answer to that. I figured letting go of the branch was the fastest way to get down,"
"You really let your wild thoughts win," Loyce nodded sagely, trying not to look miffed. "Let's go home, or else, your husband could organize a massive search party for you,"
"He knows I'm with you and you love me so much you'll save me like a superhero," Wyetta said with a coquettish tone while Loyce looked at her in disdain.
"Hmph! Keep up!" she said before making a swift pivot, running back the way they came.
"Hey, you know I can't keep up with you. I don't have super abilities." Wyetta complained but she still ran after Loyce.
"And I don't have daredevil personality," Loyce shot back, pausing to let Wyetta catch up before resuming her sprint once again.
"Hey, sister-in-law! Not so fast. What if some wild animal attacks me?"
Mid-sprint, Loyce turned her head, "I should fear for the animal instead, no?" with a smirk, she fixed her gaze ahead once more and continued running.
9 minutes later, both arrived at the town. One looked like she took a walk in the park but the other was perspiring and breathing hard, even wanting to sit on the ground.
"Don't be shameless. You want to hurt my poor brother's feelings?" Loyce questioned impishly.
"If you don't carry me home like a princess, I will really sit on the ground," the latter pouted.
Wyetta's husband's younger sister scoffed, "Suit yourself, I don't care. We're already in a safe environment, even if you get home at midnight, none of us would worry. I'm off,"
"You want to see Kilvester, don't you?"
"None of your business," Loyce said as she walked forward, literally ditching the exhausted thrill-seeker of a sister-in-law.
"Well.. Tell that pervert I said hi," Wyetta said, straightening her body.
Loyce immediately turned around, "Hey, he's not a pervert. He already explained; it was a misunderstanding!"
"What are you getting so worked up for?" It was Wyetta's turn to wear an amused look.
Loyce simply stomped on the ground and harrumphed before continuing her walk.
As the former's back view vanished from sight as she mixed into the crowd, Wyetta sighed, stretching her body before making her way further into the town.
None of the people living here were human. They were of the witch bloodline. In the legends, it's said that Goddess Jalthina made the witch clan and blessed them with several abilities. Only a few though are blessed with special knowledge that have been converted into books that are the perfect go-to for research.
"Good afternoon, Wyetta," a middle-aged lady said as she passed by the young woman.
"Good afternoon, Mrs Henry. How's your day going?"
The latter shrugged, "Pretty good,"
"Say hello to little Hank for me,"
"Sure thing. You should really go freshen up though," the latter pointed out.
"Is my look that bad?" Wyetta asked with a quirked brow.
"You look bedraggled, Wyetta. And remember, my nose is sharper than normal witches."
"Yeah, I recall that. Take care," she waved at the woman.
"You too," with that, Mrs Henry took her leave. Wyetta also continued her journey, greeting a lot of people until she finally arrived at the right place.
Her home.
In here, resided two cherished people. Her husband, and their little princess, Thalia.
