Well, I guess my story can begin in a hospital. Oh, and by the way, my name is Nico Romano. From what I heard from the doctors, I come from a family that is half Irish and half Italian. It also turns out my brothers didn't have the same ability as I did. I figured this out quite quickly, he said in a depressed tone.
Anyway, I don't remember much from back then as it was quite a while ago, but my story continues from when I was first born. A random god named Rob happened to be near me while my mother was giving birth to me. Well, that's what the god told me. He decided to give me one of the most horrendous powers in the universe: complete immortality and no possible way to kill me. Well, not exactly. They could have killed me, but it would be pretty hard. The older I got, the more my powers would grow. The more mental stimulation I received, the more my powers would grow, kind of like the Sharingan from Naruto. At least the scientists let me watch that.
Of course, you want to know what Naruto is. Well, it's too complicated, so I might tell you later. Once the doctors realized that I wasn't going to die, they did a few other tests. They kidnapped me. They figured they could get a pretty big ransom for an indestructible child. Oh, and did I forget to mention immortality? Yeah, I'm immortal. But anyway, the government figured out that an indestructible child existed. Let's just say that seemed like some pretty good research material. Or at least a good super soldier. Well, I guess that's what they were thinking.
Once they realized that trying to extract blood from me was basically impossible and that mental stimulation made my powers grow, they chose the super soldier path. At least I got to see my family for a while. I didn't know the unspeakable horrors they were going to commit to me later. At least I was really happy with my family, which also made my powers grow. They trained me in martial arts, history, science, and English. My favorite subject was history and Ancient Egypt specifically.
The reason why is that I really liked the pyramids and Indiana Jones. That movie really got me hooked on ancient Egypt. I liked tomb raiding and kingdom building. Good times. I learned spy work, how to use cameras, hacking, acting, and a whole bunch of other things. They kept trying to cram as much knowledge into my brain as possible, and they got the toughest teachers for martial arts they could find. I got trained by marines. I got trained in sword styles, kung fu, mixed martial arts, and assassination techniques. By the time they were done, I was around 16.
While they were trying their best to keep me a secret, it wasn't such a good idea to keep the family alive. Let's just say some secrets got leaked online, and the whole world was basically in outrage over my existence. Countries were fighting for me. Basically, everyone saw me as a world-conquering tool. Well, that's what they were thinking. Once the government figured out that my parents leaked the news of my existence, they forced me to kill my parents. I tried resisting in every single way, but they tortured them until I did. Let's just say I think I did become indestructible.
Meanwhile, what I'm guessing was happening was Rob being scolded by another god. "You seriously made an indestructible human? Look, he's getting tortured. Look what is happening. This is all your fault. Now I'm going to have to bring him up here. And since it's unfair to kill him because you decided to push this fate onto him, I swear it's like you wanted to kill humanity. They would fight to the death for this power, and you just burdened a child with it. I'm going to send him up here and give him two wishes because three is overrated. That's it."
After getting over the loss of my parents, a golden light came over me, and then I suddenly appeared in a dark void, where two beings were arguing. One of them yelled at the other to go in timeout for 8 billion years, if I heard right. The other one shrugged and walked off.
"Sadly, I can't really tell. You get two wishes," said the remaining god.
I looked at him in confusion. "Why are you giving me two wishes?"
"Because I killed you and took away your invulnerability, but not your immortality. Basically, I kept everything else."
"Well, can you bring back my parents?" He sucked in a cold breath.
"Ummm, OK, maybe not any wish. Just something equal to me killing you and your invulnerability being taken away."
"Well then, can you still bring back my parents?"
"No, not really. That's not worth it. They've been dead for so long, and their souls are already in heaven, and they don't want to leave."
"Alright. Well, I've been dreaming about this for a long time," I said. "I want to time travel to Ancient Egypt, specifically around 321 B.C."
"OK, I'll allow that. And for your second wish?"
"I want to know all languages. I swear they trained me in everything but not in every language. The scientists were good for nothing."
"OK, child, be on your way."
"And that's how I got here," I said to the confused merchant. I was speaking in Egyptian so he could understand me, but he still looked at me like I was a crazy, rambling person. Well, it is to be expected. I do wear strange clothes. I should probably change my clothes. Yeah, sounds like a good idea.
I asked him where the nearest town was. He pointed to a random sand dune that didn't look like a town.
"No, no, it's farther that way," he said.
OK, I walked that way. I'm pretty sure he was lying because there was no town, but there was a really long river. Wait, this looks familiar. This looks like the Nile. I mean, I am in denial, I laughed at my own joke. I decided to follow the river to see where it takes me.
