Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 Memories

At the teachers table, headmaster Brian was smiling as he touched his white beard.

"Haha! You really have an interesting disciple there Muri!"

"Hmm.. seems like he was swept by emotions though headmaster."

"Hahha! It's fine! It's fine!! What kid doesn't show emotions!?"

"Well, you are right, I am actually a bit relieved knowing he still has that emotions in him! Haha!"

----

Meanwhile at the other area, Karma and his family's seat.

"H-Wh- So Fast?!"

Herald was stunned at Eiji's speed.

Even he himself didn't know if he could do what Eiji did, nor could he think of how to outspeed Eiji.

"With that speed, even if you could predict what he could do, you still wouldn't be able to dodge it completely, that's why I told you to watch out for him, that Eiji kid, if he gets you in the first strike, you might lose Herald."

"!!!"

Herald listened to what his father said, he couldn't help but clench his fists.

'This orphan bastard is starting to get in to my skin! I already don't like him for being that bitch's friend and now he is garnering interest from my father!'

Herald had an uncanny obsession of wanting his father's interest and attention, yet even when he does everything perfectly, he would get either no words of appreciation or just lectures!

His mother had always told him to earn his father's approval and make sure that he will only have his love!

From the moment that Lime became vibrant from going to school to wanting their father's help in her studies, everything made Herald jealous and angry.

This time, he wants to make sure to get his father's approval by winning this stupid tournament and now by destroying that oprhan bastard!

Herald was engrossed by his own thoughts that he didn't notice that his father suddenly vanished from his seat.

Meanwhile, Neiva looked at her husband's empty seat, she knew where he was going but she didn't have any intentions in stopping or saying anything about it.

In fact, Neiva didn't do anything directly at Lime, nor did she say or looked in her direction in all these years!

Herald's attitude towards her wasn't even because of her, it was the influence of the other clan members that didn't like the fact that Lime, a child of a servant could have a status higher than them and get more resources than them!

Although Neiva knew they were manipulating her son into hating Lime, she didn't say anything as she knew the moment that she made a big deal and nearly drove out Lime's mother, the hatred had already started!

This would also make sure that Lime won't have any interest in taking any power or authority in the clan!

-----

When Eiji heard the teacher's words, he was already walking down the hallways going into the hospital.

After walking a few minutes he arrived at the room where Lime was.

Lime was still unconscious.

Eiji watched her.

She was wrapped in bandages.

Her face had a lot of bruises as well as cuts.

She had a few cuts in her arms and a lot more injuries in her body and especially her ribs that were cracked.

Eiji stood in the room watching the sleeping Lime.

As he stood there, he suddenly remembered his mother.

His mother was a kind woman.

They might've been just a farmer in a poor village, but they were happy. They couldn't have a full three meals a day, nor could they always have condiments like salt and sugar.

Meat was something they have as his father would sometimes hunt in the forest.

Despite their poor family conditions, he was happy, they didn't have any family conflicts nor they did have any arguments with their fellow villagers.

Everyone was busy working to provide food for themselves and their families.

At that time, Eiji thought that he would be the same in the future.

Farm as the main source of income then hunt when food is scarce.

He thought that he would marry someone in the village have a family, they may be poor but they would also be happy.

Then the effects of war came, their village was decimated, everyone died!

Only he was the survivor.

He survived and didn't know what to do in the future, feeling of just drifting through life and then follow his parents.

Then he was admitted in the swordsman school, he became friends with Lime and his classmates, he got a very kind and awesome master.

Everything was going great for him!

Yet the others also have their own battles to fight.

But for Eiji, fights with the family shouldn't be like this.

If Herald wasn't stopped, he would've killed her!

Does that mean that if you are from a big clan, if you don't have their approval and dont have the strength, means they could just dispose of you anytime?

If that's so, then it would be better to a civilian or maybe an orphan like himself!

"Ugghh!!?"

As Eiji stood there thinking of many things, Lime started waking up.

"Huh?! Eiji?! Good morning Eiji!"

".Hmm... good morning Lime! Though it's noon now."

"Oh? What happene-?? Oh!"

".."

"I lost!"

Eiji didn't know what to say when Lime said that with clear disappointment in her face.

Eiji doesn't know what Herald was fighting for, but for Lime, what she wanted was to be accepted in the clan and be treated like an equal or even if just the bullying stops Would've been enough for her.

But with the way things were, it seems like it would still be a long long long road for her.
