Chapter 31: Musician
Edward Lee sat cross-legged in the training facility, his eyes closed, and his breathing steady. The Astra Flora flower had worked miracles; the old man's previously pallid complexion now had a healthy glow, and his movements were no longer hampered by pain. Jin observed him quietly, amazed at the transformation.
When Edward finally opened his eyes, there was a renewed vigor in his gaze. "Jin," he said, his voice strong and clear, "I feel like a new man. Thank you."
Jin smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. How about we cultivate together for a while? I'd like to learn more about this spiritual qi."
Edward nodded, rising to his feet with ease. "Of course. Follow my lead."
The two men moved through the facility, practicing various techniques. Jin could feel the spiritual qi flowing more freely within him, guided by Edward's expert instructions. The energy coursing through his body made him feel stronger, more attuned to the world around him.
As they finished their session, Jin couldn't help but notice the significant visual changes in Edward. The old man no longer appeared frail; instead, he exuded an aura of strength and vitality.
Just then, the sound of a car pulling up outside interrupted their conversation. A young woman, elegant and poised, stepped out and walked towards the training facility. Edward's face lit up with a warm smile as he went to greet her.
"Jin, I'd like you to meet my granddaughter, Mei Lee," Edward said, introducing her proudly.
Mei eyed Jin warily at first. "Grandfather, who is this?"
Edward chuckled. "This is Jin Smith, the man who helped me recover and taught me the Phantom Fist. Without him, I might still be struggling with my injuries."
Instantly, Mei's demeanor changed. She turned to Jin with a look of gratitude. "Thank you so much for helping my grandfather. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to call on us. We will be there instantly."
Jin nodded, appreciating her sincerity. "Thank you, Mei. It was my pleasure to help your grandfather."
After exchanging pleasantries, Jin decided it was time to leave. "I should be going now. Thank you for everything, Mr. Lee. And it was nice meeting you, Mei."
Edward and Mei both walked Jin to the gate, bidding him farewell. "Take care, Jin," Edward said. "Remember, the path of cultivation requires patience and perseverance."
Jin waved goodbye, feeling a sense of fulfillment as he drove away. As he navigated through the city, a notification from the system appeared, catching his attention.
New job available: Musician.
Jin was momentarily confused but also intrigued. He pondered the idea as he drove back to his villa. Upon arriving, he parked his Bugatti and sat down to review the details.
First quest: Play to a crowd of people with an instrument of your choice.
Jin frowned. "I don't know how to play any instrument," he muttered to himself.
Suddenly, another notification popped up.
Reward: All knowledge of how to play any instrument, including singing.
Jin felt a rush of information flooding his mind. In an instant, he could play the piano, guitar, violin, drums, and even sing. He marveled at the system's ability to impart such comprehensive skills effortlessly.
Determined to start his new quest, Jin decided to order a variety of instruments. He contacted a local music store and had them deliver pianos, guitars, violins, and other instruments to his villa. The delivery process took a few hours, and soon his home was filled with beautiful, high-quality instruments.
Jin decided to take an electric guitar with him for his first public performance. To ensure his anonymity, he bought a stylish mask that covered the upper half of his face. He practiced for a while, getting comfortable with the guitar and his new skills. When he felt ready, he headed to the town center.
The town center was bustling with activity as usual. Jin found a spot that had good foot traffic and set up his equipment. He plugged in his electric guitar, adjusted the amplifier, and took a deep breath. People began to gather out of curiosity as he tuned his instrument.
Jin started playing the opening chords of "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen, one of the most iconic rock songs. As he strummed the guitar and sang, his performance captivated the audience. The power of the song, combined with his newfound musical prowess, drew more and more people. A small crowd formed, their attention riveted on Jin.
By the time he reached the chorus, the crowd was completely engaged, clapping and cheering. Jin lost himself in the music, the energy of the audience fueling his performance. He felt a deep connection with the guitar and his voice, as if he had been playing for years.
When the song ended, the crowd erupted in applause. Jin smiled behind his mask, taking a moment to appreciate the positive response. He bowed slightly, acknowledging the audience's appreciation.
"Thank you!" Jin said into the microphone, his voice amplified for all to hear. He began to pack up his things, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
As he was collecting his equipment, another notification from the system appeared.
Quest completed. Rewards: £2 billion and 2 shop points.
Jin's eyes widened in disbelief. The rewards were staggering. He quickly composed himself, aware that the crowd was still watching him. He finished packing and waved goodbye to the remaining spectators before making his way back to his car.
Driving back to his villa, Jin felt a mix of excitement and satisfaction. The system's quest had not only provided him with an incredible experience but also substantial rewards. He couldn't help but wonder what other opportunities lay ahead.
Back at his villa, Jin unpacked his electric guitar and sat down to reflect on the day's events. The system had once again proven to be an extraordinary tool, guiding him towards new experiences and growth. He looked at the remaining shop points and considered what else he might purchase in the future.
As the sun set, Jin decided to call it a day. He felt a sense of peace and contentment, knowing that he had made a positive impact on Edward's life and had successfully completed another quest. The future was filled with endless possibilities, and Jin was ready to embrace whatever came next.
The next morning, Jin woke up with a renewed sense of purpose. He had not only helped Edward but had also discovered a new passion for music. The system had opened doors he never imagined, and he was eager to see where this path would lead him.
As he prepared breakfast, Jin contemplated his next move. The musician quest had been an unexpected but enjoyable challenge. He wondered what other talents the system might help him uncover. The possibilities were endless, and Jin was ready to explore them all.
After breakfast, Jin decided to visit Edward again, to see how he was doing after the remarkable recovery. He got into his Bugatti and made his way to the old man's villa.
Upon arrival, he was greeted warmly by Edward and Mei. Edward looked even healthier than before, a testament to the power of the Astra Flora flower.
"Jin, welcome back," Edward said, smiling broadly. "Come in, come in."
Jin followed them inside, feeling a sense of camaraderie. They sat down in the living room, enjoying a cup of tea.
"How are you feeling, Mr. Lee?" Jin asked, genuinely curious.
"Better than I have in years," Edward replied. "Thanks to you. And now, I want to repay you by teaching you more about cultivation."
Jin's eyes lit up. "I would love that."
They moved to the training facility once again, where Edward began to teach Jin more advanced techniques. The old man's knowledge was vast, and Jin soaked up every bit of it. They practiced together, honing their skills and deepening their understanding of spiritual qi.
Hours passed, and Jin felt his connection to the energy around him grow stronger. The training was intense, but incredibly rewarding. By the end of the session, both men were exhausted but satisfied with their progress.
"You're a quick learner, Jin," Edward said, patting him on the back. "I'm impressed."
Jin smiled, feeling a sense of pride. "Thank you, Mr. Lee. I couldn't have done it without your guidance."
As they walked back to the living room, Mei joined them, bringing a tray of snacks. "How was the training?" she asked, handing them each a plate.
"It was excellent," Jin replied, taking a bite. "Mr. Lee is an amazing teacher."
Mei smiled, clearly proud of her grandfather. "I'm glad to hear that."
They spent the rest of the afternoon talking, sharing stories, and enjoying each other's company. Jin felt a deep sense of connection with Edward and Mei, grateful for their kindness and hospitality.
As the sun began to set, Jin knew it was time to leave. He thanked Edward and Mei for their time and hospitality, promising to visit again soon.
"Take care, Jin," Edward said, shaking his hand. "Remember, the path of cultivation is long, but you have the potential to go far."
Jin nodded, feeling inspired. "Thank you, Mr. Lee. I'll keep that in mind."
He waved goodbye and got into his Bugatti, driving back to his villa with a sense of fulfillment and anticipation for what lay ahead. The system had once again guided him towards incredible experiences and rewards, and Jin was ready for whatever challenges and opportunities the future would bring.
