Today is particularly a windy one, the sound of winds touching every nook and cranny inside of trees that shake its leaves in a symphony could calm a mind of the stressful one.
The Rockwood forest that is located in the north of Yucca City, which is the main place to go for adventurers, has been through some unprecedented incident, Kyne is now tasked to solve the mystery behind this incident after having the case passed onto him by his friend, he arrived at the location where his friend had showed him in the hologram, the body of the victims, obviously has been moved and buried at a nearby graveyard, the only thing left at the scene is the smell of blood.
Kyne took a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it up using fire that he created with magic, along the rustling sound of bushes and his robe caused by the wind, Kyne stood infront of the location and carefully look at any small detail that might have been missed by his friend and colleagues, but it seems like there's nothing that really stand out.
"I guess whoever the culprit is, they're extremely talented, to not even leave a footprint..." - Kyne
'Levitation Magic?, or is it a ghoul.. Ah-' - Kyne thought
He remembered a few hours ago when he's still inside the city, he visited all of the victims belonging that was found within the location, and other than basic weapon and foods, he also found that there was a torch on one of the items.
"...They seem to have lost their exit from the forest, until it is inevitably night time where they have to use a torch."
Monsters is a normal creature in this world, they all have different categories and species, one stronger than other, and vice versa, although most monsters are physical, and can be killed with weapons or magic, there is a type of monsters in this world which physical contact is near impossible, and that is a spirit type monster, these monsters cannot be touched by living being, they can phase through walls and appear out of nowhere as they pleased.
At first they might look like a pretty powerful being, but the truth is, they have couple weaknesses and that is magic attacks and also light.
Spirit type monsters cannot go near any light source as its brightness will phase through, causing them to be instantly disintegrated, that's why spirit type monsters usually only appear at night time, at places where light is almost gone.
"This might be interesting to solve.." - Kyne
Kyne approaches one of the redder ground, the bloods that have been spilled at the incident had stained the dirt.
He then placed his hand on the dirt and casted a spell.
A magic circle appeared and soon it turned into a shattered pieces that flew in a direction.
"That direction is.. The city?" - Kyne
"Oi oi, are you serious right now.." - Kyne
The spell that Kyne just used is a detection spell, its commonly used to find the source of mana from a person, when a living being uses magic, some of their mana will be drained and transferred back into the nature, usually the mana will quickly disappear, but in certain cases where it finds an object that can be touched.
'In this case, Blood that were splattered into the air..' - Kyne thought
It will stick into the object for a lot longer, mostly days, or depending how large the mana consumption is, maybe even weeks or months.
"This spell cannot track the source of mana from someone that is far away.." - Kyne
"The culprit is in the city, and its close.." - Kyne
"This case just got a lot easier" - Kyne smiled.
He grabbed some of the stained dirt and put it in his pocked, he planned to use the same spell inside the city, the spell has a cooldown up to 30 minutes, it couldn't be carelessly used, because if the spell shows a direction, then the person that were being targeted could just use that 30 minutes to ran away, far enough for the spell to not work.
[ Yucca City, Center Point, Crime Management Office of Yucca ]
Inside the room which Kyne and his friend was talking a few hours ago, the door was suddenly barged by Kyne, his friend is still inside the room, reading and analyzing various file cases that were currently being investigated.
"Kyne-" - ???
"Tundra, answer me" - Kyne
"What? Did you find a clue?" - Tundra
"You can use a mana detection spell right, have you used it for the Rockwood murder?" - Kyne
"Yes i have, the result was nothing, the culprit is too far away" - Tundra
"Not anymore." - Kyne
"What?" - Tundra
Kyne then approaches Tundra where he opens a cabinet to find something, he grabbed a sword out of the cabinet and put it on his waist.
"I just used the same spell earlier and it pointed towards a direction, that direction was the city, the culprit is currently inside of this city, hurry up." - Kyne
Tundra quickly get up from his seat in shock.
"WAIT, SERIOUSLY?" - Tundra
"Yes, grab your weapon, based on the incident, you should have know that the culprit is not an ordinary criminal, they might have a talent in combat" - Kyne
"A- alright, i'll grab my weapon-" - Tundra
He ran for a few secs before stopping abruptly and looks at Kyne.
"Wait, are we the only one that's gonna deal with this?" - Tundra
"Yes, because that way this will be more interesting, having too many people is a disadvantage anyway, come on." - Kyne
Kyne pushed Tundra out of the room, with him next.

[ Yucca City, North Point ]
Kyne and Tundra walked at the side of the street, they wore a black suit with a hat, Kyne used another detection spell a few minutes ago at the dirt that he brought from the forest, and when the pieces of the magic circle starts to go into north, they followed it.
Yucca is not a small city, it stood at a level between Medium and Large sized city, located inside of a Kingdom named Ravensword, this city is one of the largest in the kingdom, walking from one edge to another could take almost 4 hours.
'There are two possibilities, one is that the culprit could be hiding somewhere north, if that's the case we will just check every dark alleways or use detection spell multiple times..' - Kyne thought
'And two, the culprit might be disguised as a normal pedestrian, who knows what they looked like, they could be someone that we just passed earlier..' - Kyne thought again.
"Today is pretty windy isn't it" - Tundra
"...Yeah, it'll rain soon i suppose." - Kyne
As they keep walking, focusing on each person that they could see with their eyes, searching for any suspicious action or clue, Kyne's arm was suddenly hit by someone walking infront of them.
He took a glance at the person and saw a short girl wearing black robe, her height compared to Kyne is the same as his shoulder, she noticed Kyne's eyes staring at her and she stares back, revealing her red eyes and sharp pupils that looks like a dragon.
"Sorry" - ???
The girl said to Kyne in a soft voice, she quickly disappeared from Kyne's sight.
"Wait-" - Kyne
He turned around, planning to stop the girl and questions her since her appearance is extremely limited, she covers her whole body with the robe and wears a hood, but when Kyne looked back, he didn't saw anyone that resembles her, she really disappeared from the scene, like a gust of wind.
"Hm? Kyne?" - Tundra
Tundra noticed Kyne surprised face as he dropped his cigarette from his mouth, Kyne then grab both Tundra's shoulder and asked him in distress.
"Tundra, did you see that girl earlier?" - Kyne
"Hm? What girl? I didn't see any girl passing us, atleast in the last few minutes" - Tundra
"Stop joking right now, it's not funny.." - Kyne
"B- but im not?" - Tundra
Kyne the quickly releases his hand and began to aggressively grab the stained dirt in his pocket again, he uses the detection spell without waiting and furrowed his eyebrows.
"Did you find something?" - Tundra
"Shut up" - Kyne
After the magic spell shattered, to both of their surprises, the pieces flew into the opposite direction from earlier.
"I KNEW IT THAT GIRL IS-" - Kyne
"FOLLOW ME!" - Kyne
Tundra was surprised but quickly regained his composure, smiling and holding his hat.
"Roger!" - Tundra
