On a warm evening a few days after the solstice in the town of Han, a couple days outside of the Sen kingdom's capital city, the shopkeepers had begun putting their wares inside for the night when a loud sound spread over the town. People looked up and around as the sound repeated over and over, almost like an echo. Attention was brought to the fountain in the middle of the square where a line had appeared. Floating in midair it was as if the air had been split asunder.

CRACK CRACK CRACK

The sound continued as the line in the air spread and began to multiply. Soon they covered the area about the size of a door. Five minutes after the first crack appeared the door busted open as if something had hatched out of an egg. From it a man's body stepped. The man's eyes were closed when he stepped through though that wasn't what most people noticed at first. The first thing that drew people's eyes were the many cuts on the man's body that had begun pouring blood. When he had stepped entirely through the gate in the air the figure slumped to ground where he began gasping for air between frightful screams of pain.

"Doctor! Somebody go get the doctor!" screamed multiple voices in the crowd as people hurried about, many of them not entirely sure what they should do. A couple ran to the man with fabrics to bandage wounds including an old lady of about 60.

The old woman kneeled beside the man and wiped the blood that had covered his face and let out a scream. "No! No, it cannot be, how can it be? It just can't"

"Edna! Edna what's wrong?" asked another person who had rushed to help.

"This man is my older brother John. He went through the door almost 50 years ago."

"This can't be your brother Edna, this man is no older than 30"

"I know that it can't be but here he is. Look at this," Edna then pulled the left ear of the man forward and revealed a small red mark. "Its a birthmark common in our family. Look, I have it as well." Edna then revealed the back of her own ear, showing a similar red mark."It can't be and yet it is. The door must have more secrets than any of us could imagine"

"Move aside, please let me through," a small built man was squeezing his way through the crowd towing a big bag behind him. "I simply MUST get to the patient!" The doctor had started getting irritated with the crowd preventing him from doing his job and had begun pushing against the townsfolk with the strength of a man bigger than he appeared to be. As the doctor finished making his way through the rowdy crowd the screams of the bloodied man came to an abrupt halt. With eyes finally on the man the doctor dropped to his knees at the fellow's side and put his finger to his throat. "I'm afraid he had lost too much blood, he has passed on"
