The next day, the two woke up early, got ready, and made breakfast together. Henry mentioned that they would visit his mother's house and then he would drop Liz off at work.
Liz agreed and added that they would need to hire a housekeeper soon, as she wouldn't be able to handle the household chores on her own.
Henry replied, "Since we're visiting my mom, maybe she could help us find someone. She's had the same housekeeper for years."
"Great," Liz said. "For now, we'll have to eat out for lunch."
"I'll just grab the gifts for your parents, and then we can go."
They arrived at Henry's parents' house, where they were warmly welcomed. They chatted for a bit, and Liz handed over the gifts she had brought for them, including a wrapped present for the housekeeper, who had been very helpful to them.
Liz then asked the housekeeper if she could recommend a trustworthy maid for them, as they needed one urgently. She promised to look into it and get back to them.
Henry's mother suggested that until they found someone, they could come over for lunch, as she would love to have them at the table. Liz hesitated, not wanting to be a bother.
"Oh, don't be silly… it's no bother at all. In fact, it would be lovely!"
Henry agreed, saying they would join for lunch that day, but after that, they'd figure out what to do.
"I should've thought of this sooner," Henry admitted. "With so much going on, it just slipped my mind."
"Now we need to get to work. See you later," Henry said, looking at Liz, who bid farewell to his parents, and they left.
Henry dropped Liz off at her office and warned her to be cautious until he was sure Maik, the psychopath, was out of the picture.
"Are you still thinking about that?" Liz asked, urging him to forget it. "I think his hope was that I would call off the wedding, but since that didn't happen, he's probably over it by now."
"I'll only feel at peace when I'm sure. I don't want anything happening to you or our baby."
"Alright, love. We've arrived. See you later. I love you. I already miss you."
Henry told her he loved her too and was already missing her.
They kissed goodbye, and he headed to his office.
Liz entered the office and went straight to Penne's office, where she was greeted warmly. Penne exclaimed how much she missed her friend.
The two hugged, and Liz told her she brought gifts and invited Penne and Nick to dinner at her house that evening so she could tell them all about the beautiful places she had visited in Greece.
"But we'll need to order takeout since we're still in the process of hiring a housekeeper," Liz added. "Also, since the Maik incident, Henry has been extra protective, afraid something might happen to me and our baby."
"Henry and Nick talked about that," Penne said. "Henry asked Nick to find the driver to figure out why he left you alone in the car. He's really worried."
"I understand why," Liz said. "Who would've thought something like that would happen on our wedding day? But let's save the conversation for tonight so I can tell you everything. For now, back to work!"
Liz went to her office, and after seeing the pile of work waiting for her, she took a deep breath, sat down, and decided to call her mom before tackling the tasks.
Meanwhile, Henry arrived at his office, where he also found himself swamped with work. After attending a scheduled meeting, he spent some time behind closed doors with his partner and friend before returning to his own office.
Both Liz and Henry had a busy morning. Henry texted Liz, letting her know he was coming to pick her up. She replied with a simple "OK."
When Henry arrived, Liz was already waiting for him at the entrance. He got out of the car, greeted her with a kiss, and opened the car door for her to get in.
"How was your day?" he asked.
"I didn't stop for a second! So much work. I barely had time to talk to Penne, which is why I invited her and Nick over for dinner tonight. Like I said, we'll order takeout."
"And how was your day? Did you miss me? Because I missed you a lot. I almost left work just to see you for a little while," Liz said, bombarding him with questions.
Henry smiled, gently touching her face, and began answering her questions.
"I started the day with a meeting. There's a lot of work to do, and yes, I missed you a lot. I really wanted to come get you and take you home."
"It's going to be hectic for a while," he added. "Getting the house in order takes time, so these first few days are going to be a bit crazy."
They had lunch with Henry's parents, and Liz thanked them, mentioning that she was swamped with work and needed to get back to the office quickly. Henry, too, had a lot on his plate. They promised to return with more time soon and then headed back to their respective workplaces. Henry dropped Liz off, waited until she was safely inside, and then went back to his office.
