Chapter 62 - Chapter 62

The afternoon passes slowly. Henry arrives at the company to pick up his wife, and upon arriving at reception, he asks if Liz is with anyone in her office. The secretary replies that she's alone. He then asks not to be announced because he wants to surprise her. Henry heads straight to Liz's office, knocks on the door, and hears his wife tell him to enter. When the door opens, Liz sees Henry holding a beautiful bouquet of red roses.

"I came to pick up my beautiful wife," Henry says, walking toward Liz, who goes to meet him to receive the gift.

"They're so beautiful, my love. I love them. I love the roses and the surprise of having you here with me. I miss you so much when you're not by my side."

Henry smiles and says, "Shall we go home? I can't wait to be alone with my beautiful wife."

Liz laughs and responds, "Did you forget we're having our first guests tonight?" She kisses him and thanks him for the thoughtful flowers.

"I have the most handsome and kind husband in the world."

"Let's go then. We still need to order food," says Liz, hugging him and holding his hand.

"Penne has already left too. Soon, we'll be home."

Once home, Liz takes a shower and then goes downstairs to set the table. They order food to avoid cooking that evening. Soon after, their friends arrive. They all sit down to catch up. After dinner, Liz and Penne head to the bedroom to chat, while Henry and Nick stay in the living room.

Later, the two women come downstairs, Penne holding bags in her hands.

"Look, Nick, they went on their honeymoon but didn't forget about us," Penne jokes, laughing.

"Now, tell me about my godchild. How's everything going? When's your next appointment?" Penne asks, excited.

Liz replies, "I'm still feeling nauseous, but not as much as before. I have an appointment next week, and maybe we'll find out the baby's gender. We want to start preparing the nursery soon."

The conversation continues until their friends get up, say goodbye, and leave.

"See you tomorrow at the office," they say, as they head out.

Finally, Liz and Henry are alone.

"Yes, finally alone to talk," Liz says, holding Henry's hand and leading him to the couch.

"What's going on, my love?" Henry asks, anxious.

"What's this about asking Nick to investigate Maik? Didn't we agree to never hide anything from each other? Let's forget about this. What matters is that we're here, together and married."

"I just didn't want to worry you," Henry responds.

"I didn't want to worry you either, but I chose to be honest and told you everything. So please, do the same for me. Always talk to me first."

"Okay, my love. That won't happen again. I promise."

"Henry, I'm not mad at you. I love you so much and just don't want anything bad to happen to you. That's why I want to leave this behind."

"Now, can my handsome husband take me to our bedroom? Enough of this boring conversation, okay?"

"Of course, my love. You're right. Let's rest. That's the best thing to do. I just want to protect you and our baby."

"I know, and I love you so much for that too."

That week flew by. Liz and Henry worked a lot and barely had time for anything. Finally, the day of Liz's appointment arrived, and they were both eager to find out the baby's gender.

Liz joked with Henry, "I think I'll wait until our baby is born to find out. What do you think, my love?"

"Are you sure about that?" Henry asked, disappointed. "If that's what you want, I can't do anything about it."

"Don't be sad, I'm kidding! Of course, if we can find out, we will. We want to prepare the nursery and make it beautiful, colorful, and cheerful."

"I already told Penne that I won't be working this morning because of the appointment. I might not even go to the office today. I'll work from home."

"Today, I'm all yours and our baby's," Henry says with a smile.

"Let's go then. It's time," Liz replies.

They arrive at the doctor's office, where the doctor is already waiting for them. After greeting them, the doctor leads them inside. Liz gets changed, the doctor examines her, and then starts the ultrasound.

"Do you want to know the baby's gender?" the doctor asks.

They both reply together, "Definitely!"

"Then pay attention to the screen. Listen to the heartbeat," the doctor instructs.

"Are you ready to find out?"

"Yes, please," Henry says, anxious and excited. "I'm about to burst from the anticipation. Is it a boy or a girl?"

Liz holds Henry's cold hands tightly and smiles at him.

"I think the doctor should tell us before my husband has a heart attack here," Liz jokes, and they all laugh.

"All right, I'll tell you now."

Liz looks at Henry without letting go of his hand, then turns her gaze back to the screen, waiting for the doctor to announce the baby's gender.

"I was just confirming something before I could tell you. But now I'm sure," the doctor says finally. "Your baby is…"
