Chapter 11 - The Sniff Dog

At the break of dawn, a torrential downpour lashed the Celestial Kingdom, illuminating the heavens with fierce lightning. The storm raged with an intensity rarely seen, casting an eerie glow over the ethereal landscape. Amidst this tempestuous backdrop, Angel Bong Gum, distinguished by a unique mark on his forehead, embarked on a mission fraught with purpose and tension.

Determined and resolute, Bong Gum left the sanctity of the camp and headed towards the chambers of Angel Luci Kang. His heart was heavy with the burden of confronting Luci Kang about his betrayal of their revered master, Angel Strong. The wind howled around him as he made his way through the rain-soaked paths, each step filled with resolve.

On his journey, Bong Gum encountered Angel Bang Lee, a sentinel of Luci Kang's chambers. Bang Lee, vigilant and wary, questioned Bong Gum's presence. "Is Master Luci Kang in his chamber?" Bong Gum inquired, his voice steady despite the storm. Suspicious and cautious, Bang Lee scrutinized the unfamiliar angel, unsure of his intentions. Not recognizing him, Bang Lee blocked his path, refusing entry without proper identification.

Frustrated but undeterred, Bong Gum watched as Bang Lee hurried inside to inform his master of the unexpected visitor. Luci Kang, upon hearing the description of the marked angel, immediately remembered Bong Gum. A flicker of recognition and concern crossed his face. He instructed Bang Lee to allow the marked angel entry whenever he returned.

Disappointed yet resolute, Bong Gum returned to the camp, his thoughts racing. As he arrived, he was met by his instructors, Angels Green Yul and Shang. Their eyes filled with curiosity and concern, they questioned him about his early morning departure. Bong Gum, choosing silence, avoided their probing questions and took his seat, his mind still preoccupied with the earlier encounter. Observing his reticence, Green Yul and Shang exchanged knowing glances and whispered amongst themselves, plotting their next move.

After the morning devotion, the atmosphere in the camp was charged with a mix of routine and underlying tension. An angel approached Bong Gum, requesting his company to explore the kingdom. "Would you show me around?" the angel asked, hoping to distract Bong Gum from his earlier distress. Bong Gum agreed, seeing it as an opportunity to divert attention from his clandestine mission.

As the day progressed, Green Yul and Shang sought an audience with the Godhead, their concerns about the marked angel weighing heavily on their minds. In the sacred chambers, they reported their observations, detailing Bong Gum's behavior and their suspicions. The Godhead, wise and discerning, listened intently and granted them permission to proceed with their strategy to monitor Bong Gum closely.

Following a period of rest, the camp buzzed with the preparations for the evening duties. Shang, ever diligent, called on Green Yul to join him. Green Yul, still engrossed in his thoughts, asked Shang to go ahead, promising to follow shortly. As Shang made his way to the Mount Olive venue, a new angel approached him, revealing that someone had spoken with Bong Gum earlier. "An angel was inquiring about something with Bong Gum," the new angel confided. Shang thanked him, his mind racing with this new piece of information, and promised to keep it confidential.

Meanwhile, Bong Gum, ever vigilant, observed the conversation and grew suspicious. He confronted the angel who had spoken to Shang. "What were you discussing with Angel Shang?" he demanded. The angel, sensing Bong Gum's intensity, replied, "I was merely inquiring about the Lord's second-in-command." Satisfied but still wary, Bong Gum nodded and let the matter rest, though his mind remained alert.

Later, as Green Yul left the Lord's chambers, he was approached by Angels Ching Mo and Dang Yung. "Could you give us some water?" they asked, their request seeming innocuous yet laden with hidden intent. Green Yul, sensing their ulterior motives, refused. He made his way to Snow White Beach, a secluded spot where he kept a sniffing dog brought from Earth.

At Snow White Beach, the wind whispered secrets as Green Yul retrieved the dog, a creature with an uncanny ability to track scents. He took the dog to Mount Olive, allowing it to sniff each angel present. His focus was on Bong Gum, ensuring the dog memorized his scent. Once the dog had Bong Gum's scent firmly imprinted, Green Yul pretended to leave, blending into the shadows.

As the camp settled into sleep, the celestial realm quieted under the cover of night. Green Yul, moving with the stealth of a shadow, returned to Bong Gum's corner. With careful precision, he cut a piece from Bong Gum's clothing, a vital tool for the dog to track the marked angel accurately.

With the stage set, the intrigue within the Celestial Kingdom deepened. Angels moved under the watchful eyes of their superiors, each step calculated in the unfolding drama. The heavens, still echoing with the remnants of the morning storm, seemed to hold their breath in anticipation of the events yet to unfold
