Chapter 12 - Back From the Cave after 40 Years

After Angel Green Yul cut pieces from the marked angel's clothing and tied them around his sniffing dog, the white snow dog, to get it accustomed to the scent, the Godhead later discovered the dog and asked where he had found it. Angel Green Yul explained that he had encountered the dog stranded in the bush during his visit to Earth and suggested that the dog could be instrumental in investigating the activities of the marked angel. The Godhead approved the plan, and Angel Green Yul bowed respectfully, feeling pleased with the approval before leaving the presence of the Godhead.

Meanwhile, Angel Bong Gum, the marked angel, was sitting idly while the other angels worked diligently. His inactivity did not go unnoticed, as Angel Shang approached and inquired if anything was wrong. Bong Gum replied that nothing was amiss and stood up to join the others. However, he was merely biding his time, waiting for Angel Shang to leave so he could continue his covert search for his master, Luci Kang. After the morning hours had passed, Angel Bong Gum prepared to leave. The other angels watched him with surprise and curiosity as he departed, wondering what his plans might be.

As Angel Green Yul was exiting the Lord's chambers, he noticed the sound of a horse passing by, heading towards Angel Luci Kang's chambers. Initially, he thought it was Bang Lee, Luci Kang's second-in-command, but the barking of his dog made him suspect that the marked angel was involved. Feeling a sense of satisfaction that the dog was correctly identifying scents, Angel Green Yul decided to head towards Mount Olive to take over his duties there. Upon reaching Mount Olive, his suspicions were confirmed when he saw Angel Bong Gum heading towards Luci Kang's chambers. With his hunch validated, Angel Green Yul went inside his office and sat down to contemplate the unfolding events.

Angel Bong Gum, determined and resolute, approached the chambers of Angel Luci Kang for the second time. However, he was intercepted by Bang Lee, who promptly confiscated all of his fighting instruments and escorted him to Luci Kang's office. Luci Kang greeted Bong Gum warmly, expressing his happiness at seeing him free from prison, acknowledging his strength and resilience. He then proposed that Bong Gum join him in a bid to take over the kingdom, offering him the position of second-in-command. This suggestion made Bang Lee visibly angry, as he perceived it as a slight against his loyalty and position.

Bong Gum, however, was not swayed by Luci Kang's offer. He stated firmly that he was there to serve his true master, Angel Strong, and his mission was to free him so that he could reclaim his rightful position, which Luci Kang had usurped through betrayal. Bong Gum reminded Luci Kang of his treachery, recalling how he had handed Angel Strong over to the Lord's guards and had also orchestrated Bong Gum's exile to a prison in another kingdom. Bong Gum had endured over forty years in that prison and had only managed to escape with the assistance of arriving angels. Resolute in his loyalty, he firmly rejected Luci Kang's offer, declaring that his master Luci Kang would soon return to reclaim his place. As Bong Gum was about to leave, Luci Kang issued a warning, suggesting that Bong Gum was just one man and should be cautious. Bong Gum, undeterred, replied confidently that they would see who would prevail, and left. However, as he was departing, he remembered that his sword was still with Bang Lee. He returned to retrieve it, but Luci Kang instructed Bang Lee not to return the sword, leaving Bong Gum to depart without it.

Meanwhile, Angel Shang emerged from the Lord's chambers and headed towards Mount Olive. On his way, he encountered Angel Smart, who was attempting to communicate with Ching Mo and Dang Yung. Angel Shang shouted at Smart, causing him to flee in panic, unaware that Angel Bong Gum was still lurking nearby. Bong Gum waited patiently for Angel Shang to leave before following Angel Smart. He attacked Smart, swiftly overpowering him and taking his sword before disappearing into the shadows.

Angel Smart, shaken and injured, reported the attack to Angel Luci Kang and Bang Lee. The two leaders quickly prepared for revenge, devising a plan to destroy Bong Gum's powers and abilities, or, if possible, kill him spiritually. Bang Lee mobilized his men, awaiting further instructions from his master, Luci Kang. When one of the angels inquired about Bong Gum, Bang Lee identified him as Angel Strong's second-in-command. Upon hearing this, the angel smiled, but when questioned by Bang Lee about his reaction, he pretended to be eager to finish Bong Gum, satisfying Bang Lee with his apparent enthusiasm.

As Angel Bong Gum approached the Mount Olive venue, he saw a strange horse emerging from the cave forest, a desolate place where prisoners were often kept and forgotten. The sight of the horse brought back memories of the battle that had led to his imprisonment. Recognizing the horse, he decided to follow it, leading him to discover his men imprisoned inside the cave. Moving quickly, he secured the horse to avoid drawing attention and then freed his four men from their confinement. He led them to a small river where they bathed, cleansing themselves of the filth of imprisonment. Bong Gum then instructed his men to create a hiding place, where they could remain concealed until it was safe for him to bring them out into the open once more.
