Chereads / How I became a Catalyst / Chapter 17 - Void

Chapter 17 - Void

Demian's eyes fluttered open, his vision blurry. As his senses adjusted, he felt the cold, sterile environment around him. His limbs ached, a reminder of the recent experiments and torture. He had vague recollections of a strange dream involving Anahit, but the details were elusive. He knew only one thing: she was in danger.

Scientists circled around him, their expressions a mix of curiosity and calculation. They had been testing him relentlessly, attempting to provoke him into using the void. Their latest attempt had involved Tuma, a tall, red-haired woman with the ability to generate powerful sound waves.

Tuma's sound waves assaulted Demian, sending waves of pain through his body. They hoped to push him to the brink, to force him to tap into the void. Their plan backfired spectacularly.

In a moment of intense pain and anger, Demian screamed. Unintentionally, he unleashed the void. Tuma disappeared instantly, leaving only her legs behind. The effort overwhelmed Demian, and he collapsed, unconscious.

The scientists stared in horror and disbelief. They had not anticipated he could wield the void without catastrophic repercussions to himself. Panic ensued as they hurriedly drugged and chained Demian, refraining from any further tests for days.

INT. KUJIMA'S HIDEOUT - NIGHT

Meanwhile, back at the hideout, Kujima and the other Catalysts gathered around a rock table, a detailed map spread out before them. They strategized their next moves, hitting various facilities and liberating more Catalysts, gaining allies with each successful mission.

Anahit, Elena, and the others were determined, their eyes burning with resolve. They had one more facility nearby to target, but they knew the mercenaries were anticipating their attack.

Kujima, feeling the weight of their mission, retreated into the forest, seeking solace among the cherry blossom trees. His mind was filled with worry for Demian. In a rare display of emotion, he let out a massive surge of energy, the force of it snapping trees within a 1-kilometer radius. Kujima was powerful, his abilities a closely guarded secret even among his allies.

As the cherry blossoms settled around him, Kujima vowed silently, "Hold on, Demian. We're coming for you."

INT. SECRET FACILITY - NIGHT

Demian's chains clinked as he stirred, his body weak from the constant sedation. He couldn't remember the details of what had happened after Tuma's attack. His thoughts were a jumbled mess of pain and fear. But deep down, a flicker of hope remained. He knew his friends were out there, and they would come for him.

EXT. FOREST NEAR HIDEOUT - NIGHT

Kujima rejoined the group, his demeanor calm but his resolve steely. Anahit approached him, sensing his turmoil. "Are you okay?" she asked softly.

Kujima nodded, his eyes focused. "We need to move quickly. They're expecting us, but we have the element of surprise. And we have to be ready for anything."

Anahit placed a hand on his arm, drawing strength from his determination. "We will save him," she said firmly.

Kujima looked at her, a rare smile touching his lips. "Yes, we will."

Together, they turned back to the group, ready to execute their plan. The rescue mission was about to begin, and they would stop at nothing to bring Demian back.

INT. SECRET FACILITY - NIGHT

In the depths of the facility, Demian's mind wandered to his friends. He could feel their determination, their unwavering resolve. Despite the chains, despite the drugs, he knew he had to hold on. They were coming for him, and he would be ready.

As the night deepened, the facility hummed with the low thrum of machinery and the whispered plans of those plotting their next move. The clash between freedom and captivity, light and darkness, was about to reach a boiling point.
