Emma had been shown around the office and introduced to her new colleagues. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy and creativity, making her feel both excited and a little overwhelmed. After a whirlwind morning, she was finally directed to the CEO's office for a formal introduction.
"Ryan Turner is expecting you," the HR representative told her with a smile. "He's eager to officially welcome you to the team."
Emma nodded, thanking the representative before taking a deep breath. She straightened her blazer, wanting to make a good impression, and knocked on the door.
"Come in," a familiar voice called from inside.
Emma opened the door and stepped into the spacious office, only to stop in her tracks. Sitting behind the large mahogany desk, looking up from a stack of papers, was the last person she expected to see.
"It's you," she blurted out, her voice a mix of shock and disbelief.
Ryan looked up nonchalantly, a slight smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Ah, Emma. Please, have a seat."
She hesitated for a moment before walking forward and sitting down, her mind racing. This was the rude, attractive guy from the coffee shop—the one who had been so dismissive and impatient. And now, he was her boss?
"You seem surprised," Ryan noted, leaning back in his chair. "I hope this won't be an issue."
Emma shook her head, trying to regain her composure. "No, not at all. I just... I didn't expect you to be the CEO."
Ryan gave a small shrug, his expression unreadable. "People often have preconceived notions. I apologize for my behavior at the coffee shop. I was having a rough morning."
Emma nodded, appreciating the apology but still feeling a bit thrown off. "Thank you for that. Let's move past it and focus on the work ahead."
"Agreed," Ryan said, his tone turning more professional. "I'm looking forward to seeing what you bring to the team, Emma. Your resume and interview impressed us all."
She smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Thank you. I'm excited to get started and contribute to the company's success."
Ryan nodded, standing up and walking around the desk to shake her hand. "Welcome to XX Marketing. If you have any questions or need anything, my door is always open."
Emma stood as well, shaking his hand. "I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to working with you."
As she left his office, Emma couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. The encounter had been unexpected, but she was determined not to let it affect her professionalism. She had a job to do, and she was ready to prove herself.
Back at her desk, Emma dove into her tasks with renewed focus. She knew that first impressions were important, and she wanted to make sure hers was a positive one. As the hours passed, she became more engrossed in her work, her initial surprise fading into the background.
Meanwhile, Ryan watched from his office, a thoughtful expression on his face. He admired Emma's determination and professionalism, and he was curious to see how she would navigate the challenges ahead. He had a feeling she would be an asset to the team.
She had finished for the day and took the documents to his office,he was still working and didn't notice when she entered inside.
He looked really good with his reading glasses resting on the bridge of his nose, noticing her presence his eyeball moved from his work to her face before he sat straight and she was startled but moved foward to hand him the new files.
I umm.. didn't mean to disturb you,I finished with the project and wanted to share it with you before handing it to the team.
You're done already?,he asked and she nodded before he looked at the clock,it was already late.
He got up and took it from her before inspecting it..,he frowned slightly and closed the file,The proposal is good but needs work,a lot of work,He said and he face fell.
I.. I'll get going now ,She says and turned to leave.
Standing at the bus stop thinking about her days experience, she had expected it to go very well but all today brought was awkwardness and rejection, with a sigh she checked her phone as the bus didn't seem like it was going to pass.
A car drove by and stopped in front of her,the window wound down and Ryan's cold face appeared even more stunning under the streets light, Emma stood still not knowing what to do.
The bus doesn't seem to be coming, Ryan said and Emma looked around but smiled gently.
I guess I'll just walk then, Emma said.
Get in,Ryan ordered and Emma reluctantly entered the car as he drove off.
Where do you live?, Ryan questioned but she didn't reply and just put her address on the goggle map,He didn't say anything and continued driving stopping in front of her apartment.
Thank you, Emma said and was about to come down from the car but his voice slowed her.
Wait Emma, you're not mad about the project, are you?Ryan asked.
No I'm disappointed in myself,i thought I was an expert in this field but turns out I have a LOT to learn, She said emphasizing on the lot.
I choose who I work with and whomever I choose to work with me is always experienced and so are you,so one bad work shouldn't bring down your spirit ,He said and she looked at him,Her heart began acting up and she looked away and nodded.
Thank you..for the lift, I'll get going now,She said and ran off.
So turns out today didn't go as bad as she thought it did,He didn't think she was inexperienced and though he didn't reveal much emotions on his face, she could tell he meant it when he said she was as experienced as all his workers.
Smiling she went up to her apartment, now she couldn't wait to go to work tomorrow.
