"Congratulations, my darling!" Noah said, glaring at Lily and the document she held.
"Thank you so much." Lily responded joyfully. "I hope yours will come soon, too…"
"It will!" Noah replied rapidly, almost out of thought, then he shrugged. "I hope so…"
"Take your mind off worries and let us work it out." Lily advised him, and changed the subject. "Mia called me not quite long."
"Mia Miller?" Noah repeated, swerving his head around to Lily's side, hoping to hear a contrary response from her. "Are you sure of what you said…"
"Yeah…" Lily answered. "Isn't she your childhood friend…?" She asked him, bulging out her eyes funnily, making Noah laugh.
"Haha, I understand you now." Noah replied, still wondering how Mia got Lily's number, or how they knew each other. "But, do you know her?"
"Not really." Lily replied calmly. She was often uninterested in other women's cases, especially if it wanted to be a gridlock between Noah and her. "Wait, is there anything between, or was there a strong relationship?"
"No, no… no!" Noah replied loudly, waving his hands as a mark of his negative response. "I actually knew her from my childhood days back then in our locality. And, trust me, I haven't seen her for so long a while now." He explained, prompting Lily to talk.
"Oh!" Lily interjected. "You might not believe she was my coursemate at Norwalk University?"
"Really?" Noah wondered. "What a connection!"
"That aside." Lily interposed, drawing Noah to herself. "Sit beside me, and let me feel the life of your love, too."
"What do you want?" Noah asked, frowning his face, but hiding his mood. "Just let me know, I am here for you."
"A hug." Lily revealed, her mind still filled with the joy of her new job. "Only a hug, from you…"
"Is that what you called the life of my love…?" Noah asked her, and smiled. "That is too small a thing to offer you, my dear."
Noah got close to her and hugged her. He realised situations would change if he put on his masculinity. Showing his love to Lily, deciding on what to do on his own, and becoming bolder and more confident, were expedient of him. He just had to be a man!
Lily was happier to receive the first hug from Noah. All the times they both had an embrace, Lily offered it — but now, Noah hugged her willingly, without fear of what Mr. Cooper would say, even if he comes in suddenly.
Mr. Cooper knocked, suddenly making the chest of both of them beat. They had thought he would come at that moment, and he did — as if he knew their minds.
"My daughter!" He called, as he held the doorknob to force the door open. Lily stopped him.
"No, Dad!" Lily shouted. "I am undressed now." She lied, asking Noah to hide around her wardrobe, which nobody ever touched, except her.
"Alright, I'll wait…" Mr. Cooper waited at her doorfront, as he had said, hoping that Lily would dress up soon, and unknowingly giving Noah time to hide. "Guess you're doing well, my dear?"
"Yes, Dad." Lily replied, walking up towards the door. "You may enter now."
Mr. Cooper stalked in, as if he wanted to see something he would rebuke either of them for. "Your room is always neat. I like you, my daughter. Unlike that rough and poor gentleman in our house…" Mr. Cooper suddenly caught sight of the document in Lily's hand, which she forgot to hide.
"Huh!" Lily exclaimed, not feeling anything with what her father said.
"What document is that?" Mr. Cooper asked her, and suddenly gazed around, having heard a slight sound, as if of a movement. "I hope you're doing well here?" He asked Lily, again.
"Oh yeah." Lily replied, almost angrily. "Why do you keep asking… Dad?!"
"Roger that!" Mr. Cooper returned, shunning the sound he had heard. "Did you get any letter?"
"Yes, Dad!" Lily replied, now ready to show up the surprise he had kept for her Dad, "I got a job…!"
"Wonderful!" Mr. Cooper remarked, happily as he hugged her. Just then, Noah walked out suddenly from his hiding place, ushering Mr. Cooper into a shock.
"Lily is now a chief secretary in a billionaire company!" Noah said boldly, his shoulders being held up. "I am happier for her than you are I think, Mr. Cooper…" he smiled, expecting to receive the same response from him.
To his surprise and wish, Mr. Cooper smiled back at him, "I really like your cooperation this time, Noah!" He continued, still looking at him as he coughed due to the shock. "But, I pray your job comes in too, fast!"
"Yes, father!" Noah returned, happily spreading his hands around the room to reveal his pure hands on Mr. Cooper's daughter — Noah wasn't even used to, nor interested in doing anything with Lily before their marriage.
"It is well with you." Mr Cooper wished Noah well, and faced his daughter. "Lily, be prepared for work. I am so happy for you, Lily. You have made Harris' house proud, and may you rise and be the Queen of Cooper's family!"
"Amen, Dad!" Lily accepted the wish, considering it as a prayer.
"And, Noah…" Mr. Cooper shifted to Noah's side and said. "May you arise as the King too!"
Noah, surprised and nearly baffled, answered speedily. "So be it, father!" Noah knew Mr. Cooper loved how he called him his father.
"I think both of you are to meet at the dining room…" Mr. Cooper instructed them, his teeth covering a little part of his lower lip. "Actually, I need to eat some veggies, and have a taste of chocolate cakes and doughnuts."
Noah winked at Lily, and she gave a thumbs up signal, meaning that he acted like a man, and that she appreciated it, especially how it turned out well.
"Oh, right away!" Lily exclaimed in agreement. "I will be in the kitchen any moment from now, Daddy."
"Father-in-law, let us walk to see some movies…" Noah suggested, as he held Mr. Cooper to the sitting room, closing Lily's door with his left hands halfway.
