Chapter 8 - CHAPTER EIGHT

After their long conversation, Noah was noticed to have become so tired. Mr. Kenneth asked Sarah to offer them solid food and drinks, claiming he would pay for all. Mr. Kenneth loved Noah so much like his own son, who had long travelled overseas to Germany.

"So, what is the news, now?" Mr. Kenneth questioned.

"I have been given an appointment for a job, sir…" Noah announced, covering his blushing face, as he looked at the man face to face, thereafter.

"Oh my goodness!" Mr. Kenneth exclaimed happily. "I can see the smile. I definitely know my son can never be a shame to me…!"

"Where is the place, Noah?" Mr. Kenneth questioned, eagerly awaiting Noah's response. His happiness was found whenever Noah was happy, and that had been since they knew each other years ago.

"Beltons..." Noah replied melodiously.

"Oh!" Mr. Kenneth rejoiced for him. "Really?"

"Yes sir." Noah replied calmly, and surely as he changed his sitting position to adjust to his physical bearing with Mr. Kenneth.

"Oh, yeah!" Mr. Kenneth noticed that and faced Noah, drawing closer to him and spreading his hands below his ears to hear more from him.

"Beltons Mall gave a surprise call…" Noah continued but got interrupted by the amazed Mr. Kenneth.

"Oh, it was Beltons?!" Mr. Kenneth asked, happily and hopefully for Noah. He blinked his eyes and looked up, smiled and faced Noah again. "Congratulations, my dear."

"Gosh…" Noah exclaimed, complementing the sound with a yawn.

"Noah, I am going to take you along on a tour to Germany during my next trip there." Mr. Kenneth promised Noah, looking at the newly employed gentleman with a smile.

"I will be very happy to go with you, sir." Noah smiled, as he held his cup of drinks onto his mouth. "Cheers to a new life, Mr. Kenneth!"

Noah couldn't just hide the fact that he had been blessed; he was now called to serve as an attendant in Beltons Mall, which was one of the hardest places to get work. Most of his friends back then had gone for alternatives since they couldn't get employed there with their certificates.

Beltons Mall was a three-storeyed building with golden stairs, strongly arranged bricks and silver walls. It also had an abundance of quality goods, and there were many young men who worked there as cooks, attendants, security officers, drivers, bakers and many more — Noah would love to be a trader in goods.

"What aspect are you going to work on, Noah?" Mr. Kenneth asked him, chuckling and sipping his drink.

"I actually don't know yet, sir." Noah replied, his voice calmed by what the food he had eaten, and the drink.

"I guess you can help as an attendant in their supermart?" Mr. Kenneth speculated, raising a finger on his both lips. "Or, what do you think? Beltons Mall has a variety of duties though, but the woman always gives any worker a chance to select whatever will benefit them — and, she pays well."

Smiling and almost interrupting Mr. Kenneth, Noah responded. "I can be an attendant, sir. But, I will be happy with any work given to me. I am fed up with waking, eating and chilling with Lily without offering her anything…"

"It is okay, Noah." Mr. Kenneth calmed him down. "Things have changed now. So just determine to do well there, my son."

"Of course, I must do as I am instructed…" Noah replied loyally and respectfully, his hands coming down his back. "This is a great opportunity I must never miss, sir."

"Nobody will despise you again, if you remain entitled to the job!" Mr. Kenneth exclaimed happily, holding his glass cup up towards Noah's to receive cheers.

"Yes!" Noah assented, as he hit his glass cup at Mr. Kenneth's and laughed loudly. "I can't express how happy I am, Mr. Kenneth."

"When are you to meet Mrs. Piper tomorrow morning?" Mr. Kenneth asked him

"Oh, by 8am sir." Noah replied, and wondered. "You know her…?"

"Why won't I?" Mr. Kenneth returned, switching his eyes around his eyeballs to make Noah laugh.

Noah smiled, holding his fist onto his jaws as he dropped the knife. Mr. Kenneth picked it up and made a signal. "This is a piercing and cutting tool. Make sure you pierce out every hole of lack in your life, and be a man!"

"I accept that, sir!" Noah responded confidently.

"Go with your documents, a pen and a sheet of paper." Mr. Kenneth instructed him. "That is what Mrs. Piper likes in an already appointed applicant. She can even promote you any time she wishes to do."

"Promotion is sweeter than the work, and it always boost things up!" Noah explained, widely laughing and rolling his eyes. He couldn't hide his feeling — he just kept behaving like a woman; getting a job wasn't an easy thing for him.

"Exactly!" Mr. Kenneth remarked on Noah's words, shaking hands with him. "It is so good you remember what I always told you back then, my son."

"I recall all the think and thin, sir!" Noah added, placing his fingers on his upper lips as he reminisced what Mr. Kenneth used to narrate to him about his experience in Germany.

"So, prepare for the job." Mr. Kenneth complemented what he was telling Noah earlier, and stated. "Go with your necessary materials, please."

"Wow, I never knew this!" Noah appreciated Mr. Kenneth's appreciation and smiled. "I am fortunate, then."

"Surely, Noah." Mr. Kenneth reverted.

Noah began to see himself as no longer a gentleman, but an employed and responsible man from then on. He smiled as he left Mr. Kenneth for his father-in-law's house.
