A knock came at the door, Snow flinched as her sobs stopped facing up to the man holding her.
Divean not moving turned to the door, " Who is that?"
"Sir, your presence has been requested," said the one at the door.
"Alright, will be there in a minute " he answered.
When the footsteps disappeared into the hallway, Divean looked down at the tear-faced woman in his arms.
"You ruined your make up" he let out with a smile.
Snow sniffed, "Am sorry, my tears just could not stop".
"It's not that bad " he pulled out his handkerchief gently wiping her tears.
Snow stayed still letting him fix her makeup.
Then he helped her up standing next to her, his arms still holding Snow's waist and shoulders.
"Can you walk?" he asked.
"Mmm," she nodded.
"Really, you're still trembling," he said.
Snow breathed pulling away from his hold.
"Am fine " she assured him.
He fixed his coat while she placed back her veil.
They soon walked out heading back to the hall.
....
Snow sat back and watched her now fake husband give his speech. She had watched him multiple times give such speeches but now something felt different.
She sighed grabbing the glass beside her, raising her veil halfway she took a sip, and focused on Divean up front Snow didn't notice someone walk to where she was, sitting next to her.
"You can't take your eyes off him," they said.
Snow subconsciously clenched the glass in her hand.
"My husband is a handsome man, even the men can't help but look " she muttered.
"Mmm, you're right, but he doesn't hold a candle to me....I saw you two disappear into the rooms something the matter?" asked Tom.
Snow chuckled not answering.
"Something funny with what I said?" Tom asked.
"No am just amused by the way your wife is gawking at my husband, she too seems to be captivated by his looks too." she pointed out.
Tom turned to see Lydia chuckling next to Divean and the others. They seemed to be deep in conversation. But the way she was swaying her hips next to Divean and moving her hands was enough to know her intentions.
Snow gulped the rest of her drink and got up.
"If you excuse me, I need to go and protect my man from home wreckers," she said.
"Wait..."Tom said.
Snow glanced back, "What you want me to let her destroy my marriage as she did yours"
Tom blinked closing his mouth.
Snow scoffed and walked away, hiding her trembling hands.
Divean noticed her walk toward them and pulled away from the crowd to meet her.
He took her hand, "Are you okay?"
She heard he's voice and nodded breathing.
"Stay beside me" he said holding her tighter.
The rest of the evening they stuck by each other until the event headed to its end.
Divean had glimpsed Snow kept on drinking every time her eyes rested on the Barley couple.
"Ready to go home?" he whispered to her.
"Mmm, I miss Alia " she nodded.
Divean thanked the guests as they left heading outside. Their car arrived and he led her inside.
She took off her veil and sighed.
The car started to move, silence filled the car no one saying a word to the other.
Snow kept bending down touching her ankles and feet, until Divean asked.
"What wrong do they hurt?" he asked.
"A little" she answered.
"Then take off the shoes," he said.
"No am alright " she lied.
Snow shrank when he suddenly took her leg holding it up and taking off her heel. Then did the same for the other.
"You hurt " he said looking at her bruised ankles.
She pulled away her feet hiding them back under her dress.
"It's not that bad," she said.
Divean gazed at her then looked away.
