At the same time that the disc starts playing, I see myself strolling down the hallway. A smile spreads across my face despite carrying my handbag over my shoulder. I reached the first step and put my hand on my stomach.
My descent down the stairs is pushed by a pair of hands wearing a black sweatshirt.
I know the hoodie. Exactly why would she do that? Explains Melvin.
And now he is aware that it was Michelle.
As I tumble down the stairs, I strike each step as I reach the bottom. When my head hits a step, there is blood on the step that I just hit.
Suddenly, tears start to roll down my cheeks.
That crazed little a**.
I find myself lying on my stomach at the foot of the steps, and I notice that there is a large amount of blood on the ground.
My hand is placed on my stomach as I do so.
Something like that shouldn't have occurred to me. I don't see why she would treat me in such a manner.
The person picks up my handbag, which is lying on the ground next to my body. Someone picks up the bag. After going through it, she takes out my pregnancy test and examines it.
Because of this, I could not locate it when I awoke in the hospital.
I can see Michelle's face from behind the hoodie I am wearing.
While she is holding my pregnancy test, she looks at me with a smile on her face.
"No," Quinn screams out in protest. He throws a chair across the room, and it hits the wall. "Give me the keys to the car." It is for me that he clutches his hand.
I rummage through my bag in an attempt to locate the keys. "Melvin, are you alright?"
"No, I'm not," she said. Immediately, I must leave this place. Tonight, you shouldn't count on me to be at the house. He robs me of the keys to the car.
What exactly is the matter with him? The fact that he is so upset about something that occurred to me is not his business.
While she is leaning in close to me, Michelle murmurs something quietly.
I shut down the computer and glanced at my superiors in the office. "Can I please have a few minutes to myself?"
"Sure," Zinnia responds.
Seraphina and Zinnia make their way to the entrance.
She utters these words just as Seraphina is ready to close the door: "I will understand your decision not to participate in the shoot today. After witnessing that, I am sure it would be challenging for you.
I am focused on her. "I just have to get it done. Continually canceling on my siblings is not an option. It is with great anticipation that they anticipate donning your garments.
By saying, "Okay," she closes the door.
As I sit here alone for a while, I allow the things I saw to run through my thoughts.
The video continues to play, and I see my brothers coming through the door as I turn the monitor back on with the movie still playing.
At this very moment, Taylor looks at me with tears streaming down his face. When he saw my luggage, he broke it open. When he took out my purse, he noticed it was me.
When Walden sees my face, he pulls out his phone and holds it to my face. He then rolls me over. While on the phone, he continues walking back and forth.
Taylor is examining me to determine whether or not I have any injuries, and he takes off his jumper and places it under my head.
A crowd enters the hall to observe what is taking place, but none of them takes any action to assist my brothers.
It makes me happy to have a big brother who is much like them.
In the crowd, Melvin and Leo are located close to the front.
When Michelle speaks to Melvin, she encircles him with her arms and whispers something to him.
Although he appears angry and attempts to dismiss her, she refuses to let him go.
Melvin is pulled away from the scene by Leo as he makes his way through the mob.
It surprised me that Melvin was there to witness me in such a state.
When my phone vibrates, I look down and discover that Alanie has sent me a message.
My siblings are waiting for me in the parking lot, so I go there.
As Alanie makes her way over to me, she hugs me. "Thank you for helping us with launching our careers."
Alanie, the launch has yet to take place. You have a great deal of work to complete before it.
She looks at the parking spot I have reserved. "Where's the Audi you drove here?" She looks behind me. "Where, Melvin?"
"He took the car."
"Why?"
But I don't respond to her. Rather than that, I make my way over to Walden and Taylor. A video was shown to me. There was Melvin with me, and he was in a rage. After taking the car, he said he would not return home that evening. I will have to miss his apartment tonight.
Taylor encircles my shoulder with his arm and grasps it. You can spend the night at Mom's if you so choose. If you were to stay the night at the residence, she would not be bothered by it. Another meal with the family is going to be a pleasant experience.
A grin appears on my face as I look at you. "Just like we did growing up." As I turn around, I face Alanie. Do you plan on spending the night with me as well? The entertainment room is the perfect place to throw a sleepover party, just as we used to do when we were teenagers.
Alanie eagerly nods. You can count on me. Please give your mother a call, Walden. If she is not given notice, she will be pretty upset.
To call his mother, Walden takes his phone out of his pocket and dials her number.
After a few moments, he removes himself from the call.
"What did Mom say?" Alanie has a question.
"She's happy that we're all going to be under the same roof again for the night." He leans very close to me and murmurs something. "She is going to talk to you and find out what transpired within the relationship between Melvin and you. Did you know that she liked him?
She does, without a doubt. Because he is the only guy I have ever taken home to meet my parents, he will continue to be the only guy I bring home with me no matter what happens.
"We are unable to leave the managers waiting. Please accompany me to the room where we will be taking the photographs. Together, we make our way down a corridor until we reach a lift. I press the up button.
When the doors open, I will hit the button to take me to the sixth floor.
This is the floor where we keep the photography equipment and clothing for photo shoots.
The Miller building has eight stories. On each floor, a separate department of the organization is in residence.
The reception is located on the first floor.
The designers are located on the second floor. It is they who are responsible for putting the outfits on them.
The business aspect of the company is located on the third level, and it is here that decisions are made regarding where to sell the garments and whether or not the Miller Twins are prepared to present the new line.
Storage is on the fourth floor.
Recruitment is on the fifth floor.
On the sixth floor, I spend most of my time working behind the camera and giving instructions to others.
As soon as Miguel can assist in the magazine's publication, the darkroom, which is located on the seventh level, will be where the individuals working on the magazine will be working.
Last, Seraphina, Zinnia, and I have our offices on the eighth floor when we are not required in any other part of the corporation.
I don't understand why they assigned me an office since they find me on the sixth floor most of the time looking over the photographs I took the day before.
As soon as I step through the door, Miguel, sitting on my chair, has his gaze fixed on me. "You're late."
She laughs, Zinnia. "We all can't be on time, especially after the morning we had."
She smiles back at me, and she nods her head in agreement.
At the same time that Miguel instructs us to change, he also provides my brothers with suits from his fashion brand for them to try on.
As soon as I see my brothers dressed in their suits, I can't wait.
Miguel poses a question just before we leave the room. "Where's Melvin?"
I feel Seraphina's hand on my arm. "I'll have a conversation with him. Put on some new clothes."
I grab Alanie's hand and lead her to the changing room where she will change.
