Chapter 27 - The Path of Chains

[You have entered Godhood once again.]

The voice echoed through Asher's head, his eyes ablaze with flames and determination. Staring at the two wings that had engulfed the world in its might, he realized what he had to do...

Suddenly, a devious smile appeared on his face; the flames visibly intensified; the golden runes covering everything as far as the eye could see started to glow. His hands trembled slightly before he screamed.

"Sevens Suns, seven gods, the spear of the GRAND ORDER!" Asher screamed at the top of his lungs; as the words echoed through the dimension, the runes shone even more before starting to circulate as well.

A bright white-golden hue suddenly clashed against the cosmic energy and the flames. Astraeus stood still in the sky, clad in his cosmic energy. His hair waved intensely, brushing against the unfathomable winds.

Asher's lips curled upwards. Seeing the god staring at him like that...

Made his blood boil.

'Just what is this?' Asher thought, his urge to fight, kill, slaughter. All of it was so unfamiliar yet so familiar. It was inexplicable for him.

'Well, who cares? I just need to survive.' He thought once again; a barrage of flames burst out of him, covering the entire world beneath. A golden white lightning burst his sword; his flames started to have sparkles of red lightning in them.

[You are ascending your limits.]

Asher grinned, his tachi slowly transforming, shaping itself meticulously into a spear. The world trembled slightly as that happened.

Suddenly, his eyes bulged out in pain.

'What?' He thought, his muscles refusing to listen to him. A grasp of fear fell within him.

How do you survive when your body doesn't even listen to you?

That was a question that no one could answer.

'Why can't I move?' Asher thought once more before gritting his teeth.

[Fate shall not let you escape.]

'You damn voice'

[Fate shall enslave you]

Asher let out a small grunt in frustration. His eyes started to dart everywhere, supposedly trying to find some sort of escape. Just as he did so, his eyes fell on the wings.

'No...'

Just between the two godlike wings, a man stood. A man with black hair and red eyes stood. His pupils were blood-red; his hair was half stained with blood as well. A grin presented itself on his face just before staring directly at Asher.

The fingers lay afloat above his wings as if being his throne. A white colored 'V' mark had manifested itself on his forehead, extending into intricate patterns up until his neck.

'Wait... That mark, it's the same as of those wolves.' Asher thought his eyes pupils contracting. That mark, those patterns, they were almost if not the same patterns even.

Suddenly, the realization dawned on him.

'That entire thing... was just a play?' Asher thought with fear, clutching his heart tightly.

The Blood Citadel, the Blood Forest, the crimson sky. Those archers, that white-haired man.

"YOU DAMN BASTARD!" Asher screamed with rage; the flames in his eyes suddenly got a tinge of red as he said so. His eyes conveyed severe bloodlust and killing intent.

It was now that he understood everything.

'Fate is the reason for everything. That damn bastard had me get the disease and placed me in this world. Had me go through all that crap. Fate God, that man...'

Asher closed his eyes before opening them again.

'Is the reason for everything.' He thought before taking a deep breath. He hated being played with; he had been fooled, and his actions were controlled.

A burst of wind flashed by as he thought so; the flames covering the world beneath turned pure white. Red lighting cracked within it as if calling the gods to challenge them.

Astraeus let out a small 'huh' seeing Asher's current state. His golden runes were fading, replaced by intricate white patterns. The 'V' mark faded, replaced by an infinity sign that had a white hue.

The world trembled once more, Asher's tachi engulfed with a bright white light. Instantly, the flames circled around him before a burst of energy came out of him, illuminating the world in its hue.

The sky, engulfed within cosmic energy, cracked slightly. The half-torn world was enveloped with a white hue.

As Asher's wings disappeared, he realized that he felt nothing. The fear was gone, replaced by this voidish emotion.

'What is happening.' He thought, feeling serenity within his being. The flame inside him, to spite everyone, had been replaced by a calm, white flame that lived within a thread.

The man with the flame wings stared at Asher with the same expression. It was almost as if he had been expecting this to happen. Suddenly, a corner of his lips curled before turning to Astraeus.

Astraeus, however, ignored him, simply continuing to stare at Asher beneath.

A grin appeared on Asher's face. He never had the luxury of being calm. Every single day, he had to stay alert at all times.

'This feels weird.' He thought calmly before a grin appeared on his face. A burst of energy came out of him; the world trembled once more. The force holding Asher slowly broke away.

The red-eyed man in the sky let out a small chuckle, staring at Asher before speaking.

"This man follows the Path of chains."
