Chapter 8 - The Fated Signs

The green grass rustled as the wind crashed into Asher's face, seemingly screaming a powerless rage. In between the plain field lay approximately ten statues. Each was different, giving off different emotions to Asher.

The first statue was seemingly a man with a spear in his hands. Its entire body was made of golden marble. Shining off like a sun amidst the stars.

Asher's eyes narrowed as winds suddenly crashed into him. Throwing bits of mud and rocks into the air. With the tachi into the ground, holding him in his place. Albeit barely.

'What is happeni-' Before Asher could finish his thought, another spear appeared in the sky. Tearing the sky apart into two. The dark fissures in the space widened in the sky as a ginormous eye stared at him.

The spear, this time, was golden, and flames surrounded it like a blanket.

"Not again!" Asher screamed as he pulled the tachi out once again. Letting the winds take him away from this place. The entire forest behind him had plummeted. Giving way for the winds to take Asher away safely.

Several cracks in space appeared as the world trembled once again. The statue...

It was glowing.

Suddenly, a huge roar covered the dimension as the godlike abomination threw its spear.

"NO!" Asher screamed as his expression turned grim. The spear came, shattering the heavens and the earth alike. The world lifted as the spear came directed towards the first statue.

"Goddamnit! Faster!" Asher screamed once again, hoping the winds would answer.

And they did. The wind somehow increased their force. Taking him at an unfathomable speed.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. The spear was already a fraction of a second away from destroying the entire planet.

However, suddenly. Asher had a hunch. A desperate hunch.

"Seven Suns, Seven Gods. The Spear Of The Grand Order!" Asher screamed as the incoming spear abruptly came to a stop. Time shattered around Asher into a million pieces.

Suddenly, the eye in the sky widened. As if in disbelief. Asher, seeing this, immediately realized something.

Instantly, light-infused around him as his expression turned grim.

"I have one try!" Asher screamed as he rushed forward. Leaving a burnt path behind. The tachi in his hands turned white-golden as his own eyes suddenly got abrupt with flames.

And soon enough, he had reached the spear. Immediately, he brought forward both of his hands. With gritted teeth, a horrendous amount of light out of him. A small sun formed behind him. Illuminating the sky with daylight.

"DIE!" With white pupils, Asher screamed as he lifted the gigantic spear. Throwing it toward the eye with tremendous speed.

However, as the spear was an inch away from the eye, everything suddenly went back to normal.

Asher was back in the plain field circled by the evergreen conical trees. The sound of the grass rustling, the wind crashing at his face.

It was all the same.

However, something was different.

"What?" Asher mumbled as he felt refreshed. In fact, it's even stronger!

Running in the middle of the night constantly while also being attacked by abominations was indeed quite arduous. It was a miracle that Asher had the energy to simply stay standing.

"Just what was that? Another one of the disease's shenanigans?" Asher thought as he stared at the first statue closely.

The golden marble statue stood still. Valiantly holding a spear in his hands. It shone in the moonlight, enhancing its beauty even further.

However, before Asher could look at the rest of the statues, a voice suddenly echoed in his ear.

[You have slain The First Sign Of Fate: The Last Warrior]

Asher, surprised by the sudden voice, stumbled, nearly falling on his face.

'Now, what the hell is this!' Asher thought, hating surprises in his heart. His tachi lay swiftly in his hands. However, its color changed to a golden hilt and a white blade.

However, Asher couldn't care less.

The Second statue was another man, however, instead of being made of golden marble. It was composed of purple ones instead.

'Is this like some sort of a ritual or something?' Asher thought in exasperation. Nothing was special about the second statue. It was a man holding a katana lit with flames, which was quite intimidating, but not for Asher, at least.

The amount of things Asher had witnessed in this world already drove him mad. And this one was nothing special.

However, before Asher could look at the third statue, an immense force suddenly forced him onto the ground. Nearly crushing his bones.

'Holy crap,' Asher thought as he gritted his teeth in pain. He couldn't even count the amount of times he had gritted his teeth at this point.

"You are too weak to bear the other fated signs." Suddenly, Asher felt a shadow covering his face. He had an urge to look who it was, but the force held him down.

"Who are you?" Asher said with a choking voice. Blood was starting to flow from his eyes and nostrils.

"The other signs will come to you by fate. Don't bother to look for them." The hoarse voice said once again before vanishing completely along with the force.

Asher coughed several times as he stood on his knees. Blood flowed from his mouth, and he cursed the voice internally. However, Asher looked ahead. The statues...

They were gone.

"I swear I will make that bastard pay for this!" Asher said in a hoarse voice, vowing himself to take revenge no matter what.

However, for now. He had a bigger problem.

For some reason, Asher now felt even more compelled to move towards the citadel.

"How amusing."
