3 years before the start of Elena's Junior year and 2 months before the death of her parents.
It was just like any ordinary day in Mystic Falls everyone was rushing to work rushing to school and trying not to get into any accidents Elena Gilber and her brother Jeremy walk to school everyday she is a very beautiful attractive young woman with an oval face light olive complexion almond-shaped brown eyes which are sometimes described as doe eyes and long dark hair her height is 5'6" and she has a slim slightly athletic physique Elena's sense of fashion is more casual sporty and "girl next door" and doesn't.
Wear alot of makeup or favor fashionable clothing unless attending a formal event she favors t-shirts of various colors dark blue jeans and converse sneakers however today she's going to be late to school today because her brother slept in again for the third time in a row Elena's parents Miranda and Dr. Grayson Gilbert are getting ready for the day Jeremy finally gets up and gets ready for school they rush out the door and head to school they barely make it before the bell rings.
Meanwhile Elena accidentally left an important project home for science class her mother takes it to school for her it gets delivered to Elena Grayson goes to his clinic Miranda goes to town hall the council members are annoyed that today of all days that she's late her friend Elizabeth Forbes asks why she was late Miranda sighs then says Jeremy wouldn't get up so Elena had to do it and forgot a homework assignment Liz nods then says that boy for some reason only listens to your husband but he fears your daughter i've always found that odd.
Miranda chuckles then says my mother was like that so what's got everyone so worked up Liz says well the 150 anniversary of the battle of willow creek is approaching ever since that night we've had no vampire activity but they are worried about something else something much worse than just plain old vampires Miranda asks what could be worse Liz says don't know the few witches we have on our side are frightened they say that someone has awakened an ancient evil that was slumbering through the centuries.
Miranda asks why would anyone wakeup one of the old ones and i thought they were extinct Liz says according to the witches this one is more powerful than even the vampire elder we captured Miranda says take me to these witches Liz does they find them scared out of their minds Miranda grabs onto them a vison gets beamed into Miranda's and the witch's heads once Miranda lets go she smiles Liz asks what did you see Miranda says they were right an ancient vampire is going to come here every council member heard this and they are freaking out.
Miranda takes them all to a secure room so they can't be over heard along with the witches she locks the doors goes to the head of the table has everyone sit down she says now i'm only going to say this once hold all questions or comments until i'm finished i need to say what i need to say before this vision fades and i forget what i saw everyone nods she says listen the vampire coming here isn't after any of us in fact he doesn't even know that we built a town here he still thinks that this is all woods with a few huts.
Miranda says in case anybody wants to know he will be 10,000 years old in 3 years everyone gasps at that as it's the oldest vampire they've ever heard of she says listen to me when he comes and he will come don't bother him as his people will take him deep into the woods away from people so keep everyone away from the deepest part of the woods who doesn't wish to die a most gruesome death and before you all talk about being founding families he was born here long before Mystic Falls was anything more than a thought in some drunk's head.
Liz says i know that you said to hold everything until the end but why is he comning home after all of this time Miranda says idk the vision didn't show me that part just to leave him alone and that he has no desire to harm us only the other vampires who get in his way from what i saw before the vision cut off his methods are more brutal than anything we could ever dream up also he's very old school when it comes to extracting information the Mayor asks how old school Miranda says like he still uses every medieval torture device and method there is they shiver at that Liz asks do you think i could borrow him for some of the more heinous criminals we get.
Miranda sighs then says idk i'm not a mind reader a witch walks into the room after using magic to unlock the door she walks right next to Miranda she has long black hair that's in a pony tail blue eyes she's mixed race wearing a ramones shirt with a leather jacket blue jeans with converse sneakers she says hello my name is Simone i'm a witch i represent the man you all were just talking about Liz's eyes sparkle then asks does he consult with law enforecement Simone says not since The Werewolf of Dole he doesn't Liz says wait he worked that case.
Simone says yes he did he helped the police on several cases before that one but they took the credit still he kept at it until the case i just mentioned came along everything was fine until my client couldn't figure out how he was going to his day job while at the same time killing someone across town Liz asks did the suspect have a friend relative or an accomplice Simone smiles then says yes he had a cousin who helped him out eventually both were caught and executed but the cops at the time were more corrupt than every politician on Earth the Mayor says that's not fair i got elected fair and square.
Simone laughs then says i'm so sure that you did just as i'm so sure that you so called founding families actually found something when really you're trespassing just like when you all came here in 1492 my employer could have wiped you all out had he chose to on that day but he decided not to plus he's been asleep since the year 1730 he's let you ravage his home plunder the natural resources we witches have kept him asleep until the time is right Liz asks when will he awaken Simone says i will wake him up when i see that everything has gone according to plan.
Miranda asks what is it that he wants here tell us and maybe we can help you Simone says no you humans do things the loud annoying way you use guns wires microphones cameras blood samples mircochips nope i did not risk my life traveling through hostile territory to come here to scout this place for him to see if it was safe from his enemies and to keep you humans from doing something stupid like think that just because you know about vampires that you think that you somehow know about the rest of them as well.
Simone sees the ring on the mayor and smirks at him he gets nervous Miranda sees it as well she touches Simone's hand then asks in her head why did you smirk at the mayor Simone can already tell that Miranda is a part time witch she says the mayor is a werewolf and no he has no intentions to harm any of you in fact most of them don't even know they are one until they trigger their curse to do so they have to kill someone whether it's by accident or on purpose someone has to die at their hands.
Miranda asks are werewolves dangerous simone says only during full moons and their bites will rip you apart like a normal wolf but to vampires their venom will kill them Miranda lets go then says Simone has more intel for us but before she says this remember not to freak out and let her explain everything she tells them everything she told miranda and actually the idea of werewolves intrigues them Liz asks are there any in this room Simone says i'm not going to rat out a possible supernatural creature so you guys can round him and his family up for either experimentation or execution.
Carol the mayor's wife walks in Simone is shocked to see her than asks what are you doing here carol i thought we were going to meet at your office Carol says i got tired of waiting so tell me your client what kind of house do you want built Simone says none we have our own contractors Carol says i'm a realator so what did you want from me then simone says there's one property that he's interested in buying the old mansion in the woods Carol says um okay but it's been condemned for more than a century.
Simone asks what is the current market value on a house that large carol says normally it would be close to $2 million but seeing as how it's a condemned building why not $300,000 Simone says i will need to go to the bank Carol says i will take you Simone starts walking then asks what are we supposed to do in the meantime i mean we have jobs families simone turns to look at Miranda smiles then says listen i like you what's your last name Miranda says gilbert she looks at Liz Simone says listen to me what you all are thinking forget it i don't have the power or the authority to spare all of you.
Liz asks why not you seem pretty important if we're meeting you face to face Simone laughs at that Carol asks what's funny about what she said Simone says because the irony in that statement is just too comical to ignore the Mayor asks how so simone says well my employer has a huge network of employees and followers all of which has never seen his face in fact as far as i've known no living person has not since the day he got his fangs Liz immediately understood the hidden meaning in what Simone said everyone is confused but they see liz smirking.
Liz says listen what she said was no living person has seen his face which means one of 3 things 1 he's killed everyone who has seen his face 2 everyone who knows what he looks like are vampires but they won't say anything out of fear 3 both are true one of the most arrogant and idiodtic council members asks how could both be true Simone starts clapping then tosses Liz a matchbook she says go to that address bring who you trust and make sure that they have a brain once the meeting takes place this town will be swept for vampires and if there is one well then they will be left alone for now.
Liz asks why Simone says because if you take a kill that never belonged to you in the first place he will not stop until this place is nothing but a pile of ashes but these vampires here if there are any serve a purpose plus maybe they can provide me with answers that none of you can plus there's someone i need to meet also keep the vervain out of the water supply Carol asks why Simone says because i've just come from Boston who has a similar council to you guys they did the same thing and killed a bunch of town's folk by mistake by poisoning them they died before they could make it to the hospital.
Miranda sighs in annoyance then says it's because they used too much you only need one stem from the plant Simone says i don't care using that much magic to make everyone move on was a pain in the ass i'd never felt so drained in my life i'm not doing it again because you all are incompetant it's not my job to clean up your messes that you humans created and most of the time those that became vampires in the first place were because of the choices that people like you all made in the first place that got them killed or forced them into a situation where they saw no other option but to become a vampire.
With that Simone leaves the meeting the next place she heads to is the Salvatore boarding house Zach lets her inside after some talking and flirting eventually Stefan walks inside the house she says it's about time i was growing bored waiting for you to show yourself Stefan asks do we know each other Simone says no we don't but i've done my research on you and your brotther and maybe if you help me with something i can help you Stefan asks what do you need help with she says i need help locating a tree in fact could you go grab your nephew he might be of some help.
Zach comes back into the room then asks what's up Simone says i was just telling Stephen here that i'd be willing to help you Stefan and Damon provided that you 3 help me locate 3 items then i will help you 3 do anything you need Stefan asks how are you going to do that Simone says well for one thing i'm a witch so that should open alot of doors for me Zach asks where are you from she says Salem in fact my entire family is it's thanks to my current boss that i even exist.
Zach asks what do you mean stefan says her vampire boss rescued her ancester from the Salem witch trials Simone says exactly in fact he had them shipped to Europe until it was over then once the witch hunts was over he brought those that wanted to come back here over here to live here again the rest stayed in Europe i have no idea where exactly Stefan asks so if we help you is there a time limit on these favors of yours she says yeah there is my death and no turning me into a vampire or some object that kills me temporarily or with drugs either once i'm dead i stay dead.
Stefan says i can respect that Simone says one last rule your favors can't have me using my magic to have anything to do with money or material possessions of any kind you know what i mean so don't get cute Stefan nods zach asks what do you want me to help you find she says you and stefan can do this together as i want 2 things from the two of you and no i don't want to steal one of the items on the list just borrow them this intrigues Stefan who asks what's the first item Simone says the founder's journals also when i say borrow i mean copy then return them before anyone knows that they are gone.
stefan says even if you can find them all doing so will be harder than it sounds as those things are more valuable than gold around here Zach says it's true even if you do find them getting to them will be hard and copying them even with magic will take time that you don't have Stefan says there could be a way but she would have to be quick and do all of them in one night now what's the second item on your list she says i feel silly for even mentioning it because idk if they even exist in the US anymore but a white oak tree.
Zach says oh is that all there's tons of white oak trees here in Mystic Falls she smirks then says perfect now what i need from you is not only the three but some stakes made from them Stefan asks what kind of vampire are you hunting that needs to be put down using a white oak stake she says a monster who's almost driven my boss insane infact his mind is almost completely gone the other witches tell me that he has another 10 years before he's nothing more than a mindless killing machine which is a shame because i've had conversations with him he's the smartest man i've ever met plus his mind is the most sophisticated that i've ever been inside of.
Stefan asks how can he be fixed Simone says i did some asking around apparently he can be fixed one of 3 ways he can drink the blood of the one who made him this way he can become whole or he can find his soulmate which will never happen as noone has ever caught his interest even when he wasn't killing things all he cared about back then was exploring the world and killing things Zach says well back then there was nothing else to do but be an explorer or be a soldier she says well he chose both i have a question for the both of you.
They ask what's your question she asks why is the founders council so trigger happy about vampires it's not like they are the worst supernaturals in existence or even the most dangerous Stefan sighs then says go to founders hall it will explain a bit you'll have to pay an entrance fee other than that it's open to the public and a couple of the founder's journals are on display just don't get caught copying them she says i won't also i have another question Zach asks what's your question she asks is there a records place somewhere to tell me as to when this place became more than just a bunch of trees and a few huts.
Zach says yes there is i can take you there if you want she says thanks it's not for me it's for my boss he was born here several centuries before anyone actually settled here even before the first reported sighting of the native americans Zach asks how many centuries she says like i told the founder's council he will turn 10,000 in 3 years this shocks Zach and Stefan but also makes them motivated to help him someone so ancient so they can learn from him Simone says listen i need to say something before we go any further both of them notice that she's only looking at Stefan.
Simone sighs then says so far i like you guys but he doesn't listen to me in fact he doesn't trust me at all he feels like i will betray him to his family the first chance i get so whatever you guys are hoping for drop it also when your brother finally decides to drop in tell him that Katherine is not in the tomb he'll know what i mean also tell him that if someone should come mentioning Katherine they are to come find me immediately Stefan asks why Simone says becuase Katherine has the object i need and if we don't all want to die she needs to give it up or everyone on this side of the continent will die because of her selfishness.
Zach takes her to the records hall where she gets the records she is looking for she also manages to find two founders journals hidden there she goes to the founders hall exhibit where it gives their history she writes everything down she manages to copy 2 journals one is a Fell's journal the other is Maxwell the first 2 she got were the Lockwood's and the Forbes after holding a real journal and not a copy she's able to sense where the others are she heads to Elena's family cabin uses magic to unlock the door then finds the journal in a the closet in a secret panel she copies it puts it back then leaves and relocks the door she finds the Bennett journal in the woods in the cemetary in stone coffin in hidden compartment.
She copies it puts it back then heads back to Stefan's house who is waiting with the journal in hand he says go ahead and copy it she asks are you sure he says yeah i know that it's for your employer she says thanks he nods she copies it then asks what is it that you want Stefan i will give you a free favor considering that you had to dig up a grave to find this journal he says there is one thing i do want she asks what is it he asks what do you know about rippers she sighs then says quite a bit actually she says i can fix the symptoms but the overall issues that turned you into a ripper will still be there meaning that when you feed on humans you won't have the urge to rip their heads off but you will crave more blood like an addict.
He asks can you do any better than that she says i could try but without knowing what you're like while on a bender i don't want to alter to much without hurting you he nods then asks could you maybe create a blood substitue that will lesson the cravings for blood but keeps me satisfied at one bag a day she says yeah i could do that it will keep you from robbing any blood banks or killing anyone but know this should you go longer than one month without feeding your cravings will be as bad as they were when you are on a bender he shivers then nods she says also i'm putting vervain in your new blood supply he frowns but agrees.
