Alaric was stunned, unable to think of a way to respond.
By the time he tried to react, it was already too late.
Sylas had lost interest in him.
Sylas wanted to test his full power's destructive capabilities.
"Are you ready to die?" Sylas shouted, unleashing his full strength.
Controlled by his psychic power, the Desert Eagle fired relentlessly, bullets pouring out.
The fiery whip in Sylas's hand lashed out, striking the golden light fiercely.
At the same time, Sylas used his psychic power to lift a nearby sofa and hurl it at Alaric.
Sylas also wielded his katana single-handedly in the attack.
Sylas's attacks were varied but truly at full power.
Alaric lasted only three seconds before letting out a scream, blood spurting from his mouth.
The golden light in front of him dissipated.
Sylas's assault was too fierce, especially the physical attacks, which Alaric couldn't withstand.
His golden light ability was indeed strong against energy attacks but failed against physical ones.
This was one of his weaknesses.
But honestly, even without this weakness, he couldn't withstand Sylas's onslaught.
Sylas's multi-layered attacks were too much for one person to handle.
It would have taken several more people working together to mount a defense.
Sylas quickly withdrew his attacks and used his psychic power to lift Alaric into the air.
Looking at Alaric, Sylas said calmly, "I'll be honest with you, you are going to die because you provoked me."
"But there are many ways to die."
"I can shoot you quickly, or I can torture you slowly. It's your choice."
Alaric spoke with difficulty, "I understand. Please kill me quickly. I don't want to be tortured."
Sylas smiled slightly and said, "Smart choice. Now, tell me how you reached level 2."
"Aren't you also a level 2 ability user? Why do you need to ask me?" Alaric asked, confused.
"I just want to know if your method is the same as mine," Sylas replied seriously.
Alaric weakly said, "Fine, I'll tell you. I killed mutated zombies and took a crystal from their brains. By absorbing the crystal's power, I advanced from level 1 to level 2."
Sylas quickly asked, "How many energy crystals did you absorb to advance from level 1 to level 2?"
Alaric's method wasn't much different from Sylas's, except Sylas used the system to absorb, which was faster.
"Four. I absorbed four energy crystals to reach level 2," Alaric said definitively.
"Are you sure?" Sylas asked, surprised.
"Yes, it's four. I'm certain," Alaric confirmed.
"Please, don't kill me. I can be useful to you. I can be your subordinate and follow orders," Alaric pleaded.
Who wouldn't want to live if they had the choice?
"Die," Sylas said, and with a thought, he used his psychic power to pull the trigger, shooting Alaric in the head, killing him instantly.
"Boss, it's my fault you're dead," Floyd wailed, seeing his boss killed.
He had never imagined that his boss would die here, and because of his actions.
"Don't cry. You're going to die soon, too."
"But your death will be worse. You'll suffer more," Sylas said coldly.
"You won't die a good death. Even as a ghost, I won't let you off," Floyd spat venomously.
"I don't fear you alive, why would I fear you dead as a ghost? Heh," Sylas chuckled coldly, indifferent to Floyd's threat.
Moreover, this guy brought it upon himself. For no reason, he shot at Sylas, clearly seeking death.
Floyd truly regretted his actions now. Had he known the outcome, he wouldn't have fired that shot.
He was merely jealous of Sylas's ability to fly and impulsively pulled the trigger.
But he hadn't expected the consequences to be so severe.
Without further words, Sylas grabbed Alaric and jumped from the building.
Using his psychic power, Sylas gently floated to the ground.
Once near the ground, Sylas tossed Floyd to the floor.
Several zombies, drawn by the commotion, were already approaching.
As soon as Floyd hit the ground, the zombies swarmed over, biting into him savagely.
Seeing the zombies rush in, Floyd was terrified, and he let out a scream.
"Help! Please don't leave me! Ah, kill me! Please kill me!" Floyd screamed in agony as the zombies tore into him. The horrific torture shattered his mental defenses completely.
Floyd no longer had any desire to live; he only wished for a quick death. But the zombies, devouring his flesh, didn't kill him immediately.
He would endure a period of excruciating pain before dying.
Floyd's regret reached its peak. He thought he was twisted, but Sylas was even more so, using such a perverse method to torture him to death.
He regretted his actions deeply, but it was too late.
Sylas hovered above, watching Floyd's demise until he was reduced to a mangled corpse. Only then did he choose to leave.
When Sylas killed Alaric, a surge of energy rose from Alaric's body and was absorbed and retained by Sylas.
This energy could be used to enhance his abilities.
Unlike the energy he had previously absorbed, this was from a level 2 extraordinary being, equivalent to level 2 energy.
It could be used to upgrade level 2 abilities or significantly boost level 1 abilities.
This was Sylas's own assessment, though he hadn't tested it yet.
Initially, Sylas planned to use this energy to upgrade his level 2 ability, Flame Control.
However, upgrading a level 2 ability to level 3 required a lot of energy, and the amount he gained from Alaric was minimal, hardly making a difference.
It was more effective to use the energy on his level 1 abilities.
Ultimately, Sylas decided to apply this level 2 energy to his level 1 ability, Innate Strength.
Instantly, the energy bar for Innate Strength was nearly filled.
It was just shy of leveling up.
Using level 2 energy on a level 1 ability was extremely effective.
Sylas estimated that one unit of level 2 energy was equivalent to ten units of level 1 energy.
The energy conversion ratio was tenfold.
Sylas figured he needed to absorb five level 2 Energy Crystals to upgrade a level 1 ability.
However, he hadn't encountered any level 2 mutated zombies.
So, for now, upgrading his abilities meant sticking to killing level 1 mutated zombies.
After finishing off Alaric, Sylas didn't waste any time. Monica at home was still waiting for treatment.
Sylas quickly retrieved Sirena and headed back to the villa area with her.
On the way back, Sylas was more cautious, constantly using his psychic power to form a shield around them to ensure their safety.
After the recent lesson, Sylas couldn't afford to be careless again.
"This is nurse Sun Meng. Let Sirena check on Monica," Sylas said without any unnecessary words, bringing Sirena inside to examine Monica.
Sirena was a bit surprised by the number of beautiful women there, but there was no time to think about that now.
The priority was to check on the patient.
Knowing Sirena was a nurse, everyone made way for her. Sirena took out her tools and immediately began examining Monica.
A minute later, Sirena sighed in relief and said, "It's pneumonia. Fortunately, it can be treated."
Pneumonia can be mild or severe. Without medication, it can be fatal, but with proper treatment, it becomes much more manageable.
"Pneumonia? Can it be cured?" Gina asked in surprise.
She hadn't realized her sister had pneumonia, which explained why her condition had worsened over the days without improvement.
"It can be treated. We brought medication," Sirena quickly assured her.
Sirena also felt relieved. She had been worried that it might be a different, untreatable illness.
Thankfully, it was just pneumonia.
In the clinic, Sirena was a skilled nurse and knew how to treat pneumonia.
Before, as a nurse, she couldn't prescribe medication freely.
But now things were different.
Even as a nurse, Sirena had to administer medication.
After all, finding a doctor now was impossible.
"I'll administer the medication first. Fortunately, this is a common illness and I know how to treat it. Otherwise, it would be troublesome."
"You still need to find a doctor. There are many conditions I don't know how to treat," Sirena said softly as she prepared the medication.
"Alright, I'll make every effort to find a doctor," Sylas said seriously.
For his own sake and for the sake of the other survivors in the base, having a doctor was essential.
And it would be best to have doctors from every specialty.
Even seemingly insignificant doctors, like dentists, were necessary.
Sylas made up his mind to visit hospitals today and bring back any surviving doctors.
A random task appeared before Sylas: "Rescue at least ten doctors. Reward: Master-level Medical Skills."
Sylas's eyes lit up at the task's reward.
He was delighted with this reward because it offered medical skills.
Although medical skills weren't an ability, their value and usefulness were undeniable.
If Sylas mastered medical skills, he could personally treat his women if they fell ill.
Even if all the doctors died, Sylas wouldn't have to worry about medical issues.
This reward came at just the right time.
However, completing the task wouldn't be easy, as he needed to rescue ten doctors.
Could he find ten healthy doctors in this city?
Sylas had his doubts.
Doubts aside, the task had to be completed.
