Chapter 6 - Lee Yi

The moment I opened my eyes, I saw Chen Wang standing over me, and I took a quick step back as Chen Wang retreated, his expression one of astonishment on his face.

"Master, I apologize. For frightening you," I nodded before standing up and massaging my sore head. I realized that I was still asleep on the hard desk before Chen Wang woke me up.

"What time is it?", I inquired as walked out of my office, "8 pm, I asked Xue Chi to clear off your schedule for today". My eyes widened in surprise, I slept that long. It must be because of the long day I had. As I exited the office with Chen Wang tailing behind, I heard him speak,

"Master about the thing you said before....I have not told others yet..should you reconsider...".

It was at that point that I froze. Why is my villain so controversial? Chen Wang was furious and scowling when I turned around to confront him.

I demanded, "Why do you say so, Chen Wang?" with a hint of anger undertone. But Chen Wang was in such a dazed state of mind that he failed to perceive that.

"Master, that man is evil, he is said to have done many crimes, he tortures his men and nothing is known about his childhood! How he was raised? We don't know anything! Master, you can't let him ruin you".

The moment Chen Wang uttered that my blood ran cold. Lead me to ruin, mine Lee Yi? Absolutely not!

Bai Ling's expressionless, motionless eyes met Chen Wang's and he froze in his tracks. Sweat trickled down his cheeks as he shook uncontrollably. Freezing air seems to be oozing out of the already icy eyes of Bai Ling.

"Master-Master.. I made a mistake—please forgive me". Chen Wang trembled as he spoke those words. He bowed his head to Bai Ling who just stared at him emotionlessly.

"Chen Wang", Bai Ling muttered as she gazed at him. He lifted his head to meet the expressionless face of his master.

"I shall not hear any word against Lee Yi in the future at all and even by others".

Everyone always hates the villain, why? Can they not have the right to live?

Seeing Chen Wang's terrified reaction to me made me stop and think about my actions. It was completely out of character for me to be so possessive and obsessed, and Bai Ling never displayed her feelings unless absolutely necessary. So far, I have no idea what is wrong with me.

As I locked eyes with Chen Wang, a sigh escaped me. "Chen Wang, in three days, I will be going to the Lee group as a bodyguard with two other men of ours," I exclaimed.

He then nodded as he bowed. I left my desk and headed home because I was sick of being here today.

Ignoring Xue Chi, who stood by the side, inviting me to dinner, I dove headfirst into bed after getting home. I explained to him that I need to get some sleep.

I intended to refine my abilities—shooting and working on the body—in the days leading up to my visit to the Lee group, so that I could take after the original owner.

The following day, I headed to the training field for some drills. Chen Wang stood there as he greeted me.

"Master", I nodded as I went to do my own routine automatically. Because the original owner's body had all the necessary information recorded in it, I was already familiar with the procedure.

Due to that, I dedicated my entire day to training; the following day was no different. Just like that, three days flew by because I was so preoccupied with my training.

I nervously paced my room the night before my trip to Lee Yi. I don't know how to face Lee Yi.

With the room divided by the curtain, the bed was encased in it. A tiny lamp in the corner was the only source of light in the otherwise pitch-black room. A man stood near the door, far from the curtain-closed bed.

He was dressed well, a tight suit embraced his body. Fearfully, he stood there and sighed. Gazing at the curtain, Bao Wei let out a heavy sigh. The sheer volume of work assigned to him by his boss was killing him. He muttered,

"Boss! When are you going to listen to me? Stop taking your safety so causally". He screamed at the top of his lungs to his Boss who was behind the curtain on the bed.

The curtain fluttered slightly as a silhouette was seen behind. A man leaned against the bedside, with his upper body naked. At his waist, a bandage was fastened. Attempting to remain motionless, he stretched out his long legs on the bed. His breath was heavy as a chuckle escaped his lips. Raven hair covered his eyes, hiding the true nature of the serpent.

His laughter caused his chest to move up and down. A solitary giggle echoed through the otherwise quiet room.  Another man stood beside him as finished up the treatment for the man. With his handbag slung over his shoulder, the doctor emerged from the curtained area adjacent to the bed. While the man on the bed played with a fidget spinner in his hand. His long fingers turned the spinner round and round till only Bao Wei was left in the whole room.

"Boss! You are laughing? When you got injured by a gunshot!", Bao Wei exclaimed as he rubbed his hair in irritation. He walked closer to the curtain as he spoke.

A laugh escaped the man on the bed, "What do you expect me to do? Cry? Hahaha Bao Wei you can be quite amusing sometimes and besides I am used to incidents like this. Instead of this tell me the update on our request to the Bai family."

Bao Wei pressed upon his glasses that sat on his nose bridge before speaking, "Boss they have updated us on it, saying that in 3 days they would send their best men".

While crossing his legs, the man on the bed could not help but burst into laughter. As Bao Wei furrowed his brows in disapproval.

"Best men huh? I see, Well the Bai family is the best in that sector". Bao Wei had an ugly expression as he spoke after that,

"We do not know that. They are renowned to be the best, but nobody knows who the head of the family is, except for the name, Bai Ling."

The man muttered the name "Bai Ling" while staring at the ceiling. As the name rolled off his tongue, a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes.

His mischiefness made the poor Bao Wei concerned for the future.
