Chapter 13 - WAIT FOR YOU

As the first light of dawn began to creep over the horizon, Stella stirred, her eyes opening with a quiet determination. She knew that the time had come for her to continue her journey alone.

Stella rose early, her movements quiet as she made her way to the nearby river. She expertly caught a few fish, their silver scales glinting in the morning light. Returning to camp, she prepared a hearty breakfast for Clever, her actions efficient and precise.

As they ate, Stella's expression turned serious. "I'll be back in three days, Clever. Wait for me here."

Clever nodded, his eyes watchful. "Be careful, Stella. You're becoming powerful, but you still don't know what lies ahead."

Stella's gaze flickered, her thoughts hidden. "I'll be cautious," she promised. "But I must do this alone."

With that, she turned and disappeared into the trees, leaving Clever to wonder what lay ahead. Though Stella's powers were growing, the future remained uncertain, and she knew better than to underestimate the challenges that awaited her.

Stella traveled far and wide, pushing herself to her limits without rest. Finally, she arrived at her destination, her senses heightened as she approached the entrance. As she stepped inside, memories long dormant began to resurface, guiding her every step.

With a sense of familiarity, she navigated the ancient halls, her footsteps echoing off the walls. She entered a grand armory, weapons of all kinds on display, but her eyes scanned the room in vain for the sword her father had sent her to retrieve.

Despite the array of deadly instruments, the sword she sought was nowhere to be found. Stella's determination only grew stronger, her mind racing with the possibilities. Where was the sword, and why was it hidden? She knew she had to find it, no matter the cost.

As she searched the armory, Stella's gaze landed on a dagger with an intricately carved hilt. Suddenly, a surge of recognition coursed through her veins. She grasped the dagger, and as she did, the air around her seemed to shift. The sound of grinding stone filled the air, and a hidden passageway to an underground layer swung open, revealing a narrow stairway that plunged into darkness.

Stella's heart raced with excitement and trepidation. She felt an inexplicable pull to descend into the unknown depths, as if the dagger had unlocked more than just a physical path. With a deep breath, she began her descent, the dagger clutched tightly in her hand, illuminating the darkness with an otherworldly glow.

As Stella descended into the underground layer, the air grew thick with anticipation. She saw it - the sword - nestled in a pedestal, radiating an ethereal light. With each step closer, she felt an electric thrill coursing through her veins, as if the sword's power was awakening within her.

Finally, she grasped the hilt, and a surge of energy exploded through her body. The sword seemed to come alive in her hand, its glow intensifying as she felt an unexpected presence beside her.

"It is I, your father," a voice whispered in her mind. "I have passed on the legacy of this sword to you, Stella. You are its rightful wielder now. This is your layer, and you will one day pass it on to your own child, just as I have passed it on to you."

Stella felt a sense of pride and purpose wash over her. She knew that this sword was more than just a weapon - it was a symbol of her destiny, and a reminder that she was not alone in her journey.

With the sword in hand and her father's words echoing in her mind, Stella felt an overwhelming sense of pride and purpose. She took a moment to sit down, collecting her thoughts and pondering her next move. As she rose to begin her journey back to Clever, she was met with a magnificent surprise: a majestic white horse, its coat glistening in the sunlight, waited for her outside.

Without hesitation, Stella mounted the horse, feeling an instant connection to its strength and grace. As she rode, the wind in her hair, she felt a sense of exhilaration wash over her. The horse's hooves pounded the earth, devouring the distance, and Stella's excitement grew with each stride.

She couldn't wait to reunite with Clever, to share her triumph and the sword's power with him. The journey, once arduous, now felt effortless, as if the universe itself was propelling her forward. With every gallop, Stella felt her heart fill with joy and anticipation, eager to face whatever lay ahead, side by side with Clever.

Though she was moving at a rapid pace, Stella's keen senses picked up on the faint sounds of screams carried on the wind. She reined in her horse and turned to investigate, her eyes scanning the horizon. That's when she saw them - a group of people being brutally attacked by a band of thieves.

Without hesitation, Stella drew her sword, its blade glinting in the sunlight. Undaunted by the odds, she charged into the fray, her weapon flashing in swift, deadly arcs. Despite being outnumbered, Stella fought with valor and precision, her sword slicing through the thieves' defenses with ease.

In the end, it was a one-sided battle, with Stella emerging victorious without a single scratch. The thieves lay defeated at her feet, their leader glaring up at her with a mixture of shock and admiration. Stella stood tall, her chest heaving with exertion, her sword still trembling with the force of her final blow. The people she had saved approached her, gratitude etched on their faces, and thanked her for her bravery.

As the dust settled, Stella turned to the group she had just saved and asked, "Why did the thieves attack you? What did you do to provoke them?"

The eldest among them, a wise-eyed old man, hesitated before responding, "The king's men have been hunting us. We fled the city to escape persecution, but it seems the king's reach is far. This time, we were lucky to survive."

Stella's curiosity was piqued. "Why did you leave the city?" she pressed on, her eyes narrowing slightly.

The old man's expression turned somber. "The king's rule has grown tyrannical. He taxes us heavily, and his men brutalize anyone who speaks out against him. We couldn't take it anymore, so we left."

Stella's grip on her sword tightened, her mind racing with the implications. She had heard rumors of the king's cruelty, but to hear it firsthand from these innocent people... her resolve to help them solidified. "I see," she said, her voice firm. "You're welcome to join me on my journey.

"I'll take you somewhere safe," Stella promised, her eyes scanning the horizon to ensure they were not being followed. The group nodded in agreement, grateful for her protection. With Stella leading the way, they set off towards the unknown, placing their trust in her.

As they journeyed, Stella's senses remained alert, her sword at the ready. She navigated through the winding paths and dense forests, her knowledge of the terrain guiding them towards a secluded sanctuary.
