Chapter 31 - Halt

Marcus led Samantha deeper into the woods, the quiet rustle of leaves and chirping of distant birds creating an eerie backdrop. As they walked, Samantha couldn't shake her curiosity about Marcus's past.

"Marcus," she began hesitantly, "what was it like for you... when you were first turned?"

Marcus paused, his eyes distant. "It was... chaotic. Overwhelming. The heightened senses, the newfound strength - it was intoxicating. But the hunger..." He shook his head. "That was the real challenge."

Samantha nodded, understanding all too well. "How did you learn to control it?"

"With great difficulty," Marcus admitted. "And not without... mistakes. But that's why I'm here, Samantha. To help you avoid the pitfalls I encountered."

They reached a small clearing bathed in moonlight. Marcus turned to face Samantha, his expression serious.
