Ilya turned to grandpa Xu and smiled "Grandpa sorry for my rudeness, I was just a little worried just now.."

"..."

Grandpa Xu's eyes narrowed as he looked at Ilya, his disapproval evident. "So, you're the man from country R," he said coldly. "The one who took my granddaughter away."

"That's one way to put it grandpa," Ilya replied, his tone remaining cool and controlled. But he made no move to shake hands or approach Grandpa Xu.

"Grandpa, please," Chenyao interjected as she patted his shoulder.

Grandpa Xu scoffed. "Yaoyao. I told you to end this marriage. People from country R always bring trouble for our family."

The tension in the room was palpable. Qiqi, sensing the hostility, retreated to a corner.

Ilya's face remained impassive, but his eyes had hardened. "Mr. Xu," he said, his voice still polite but with an unmistakable edge, "perhaps we should discuss this matter civilly. Would you care for some tea?"
