Xu Chenyao took a deep breath, steadying herself before re-entering the hospital room. The weight of their previous conversation still hung heavily in the air.
"Grandfather," she said softly, approaching his bed. "I've been thinking..."
Grandpa Xu turned to look at her, his eyes still clouded with worry and something else she couldn't quite place. Regret, perhaps?
"I think it would be best if you came back to the city with me," Chenyao continued, her voice growing more confident. "I want to keep a close eye on your recovery and I can't do that if I return back to the city."
Her grandfather's eyebrows furrowed. "Yaoyao, that's not necessary. I can manage just fine at home. I know the kind of herbal medicine to make."
Xu Chenyao shook her head, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "Please, Grandpa. After what happened... I'd feel much better if you were closer to me. My apartment has a spare room, and I can monitor your health more closely there."
